Gotham Knights [Closed, In Progress]
WHO: Batman and Harvey Dent
WHERE: Harvey Dent's office
WHEN: The evening of this. Backdated.
WARNINGS: N/A
SUMMARY: The Dark Knight and the White Knight meet again...
FORMAT: Para, I guess? Unless you'd prefer Quicklog.
He knew the time would come for this eventually, and since he had found out that Harvey Dent was here-- not Two-Face, but Harvey Dent, Bruce had been preparing himself. Harvey Dent had been a good, upstanding man. Two-Face had been mass murdering psychopath. Two sides of the same coin. Dent had always still been in Two-Face, holding him back from becoming a total monster like the Joker. But now... Now this was again Dent, and as much as Bruce wanted this to be just like it had been once, just like before, he knew it could never go back to that. The hope could never be as bright as it had been back them, the trust as complete, because he knew, now, that just as Dent had been in Two-Face, holding him back, Two-Face, or the potential for Two-Face, lurked in Harvey Dent.
But the Dark Knight could only accomplish so much without support in the government, in the police, and there was so much more he and Dent could do together. It was a risk. But it was one Bruce knew he had to take, if not for his own sake, then for the sake of the people of the City, and, perhaps even for the sake of Harvey Dent, in the hope that this time, maybe he wouldn't be too late. Maybe he could save Dent. Maybe this was a rare second chance.
It was a late night for Harvey Dent, but that was no surprise; even though the City was, in many ways, better than Gotham, in others it was worse; they lacked a cohesive police force capable of patrolling and handling the entire city. While a police force was forming, it just wasn't big enough; as often as not, crises were dealt with by vigilantes instead of official law enforcement officers. This, naturally, could lead to... legal difficulties. Still, the fall of darkness outside, despite signaling a long night ahead for Dent, did hold some consolations. Including an old friend, lurking in the shadows, just like always.
"Dent."

"Dent."

And then add in the whole guns fiasco. He wanted one of those gun. It would make things so much more easy. Just take the gun, fire it, and them bam. Carnage and Bullseye were without powers. He sighed, flipping through a file on Carnage he pulled from the police station.
He hoped his kids would forgive him. He had been pulling all-nighters for ages.
Harvey was so engrossed in his work that he didn't notice an old friend sneaking into his office. At Batman's words, Harvey jumped up. Was that...it sounded like Batman. But then again, that Hush guy sounded like Batman too. There was only one definite thing: someone was in his office. In one fluid motion, Harvey reached into a desk drawer, grabbed a pistol and stood up, aiming the pistol at various corners around the room.
"Who's there?"

The Dark Knight emerged from the shadows, not particularly concerned that Dent would fire, but ready to evade if he did. It was prudent of him to have a weapon of some kind here. After life in Gotham, it was probably second nature, and even here, with all the metahumans, someone like Dent made a tempting target, particularly to men like Crane and the Joker who would take joy in twisting him into the Two-Face they remembered. The more prepared he was for that, the better.
"I believe you wanted to see me."

"I did want to see you. Really...it was just because I didn't know if you were here or not." He sighed, then ran a hand through his hair. "Fair warning though, I might not be 'your' Dent." He sighed. "The only costumed from the Gotham I know are you, Scarecrow and Joker. I hope that doesn't change anything. Also...nothing." It was no use mentioning Rachel. Nobody here knew her.
"What do you know about Riddler, Catwoman and Harley Quinn...most specifically, the last one. I'm her lawyer." His face reflected a confused look, and he grinned awkwardly. Yeah, that was weird for him as well.

It was good to see Harvey smile again, he had to admit, instead of Two-Face's twisted half-smile, half-sneer. Of course, unlike Harvey, Batman never smiled, but the very fact that he was here when Harvey asked for him spoke to a trust that few held. For almost anyone else, it would be Batman setting the terms of the engagement, not the other way around.
"I'm not surprised. I'm not from the same word as most of the rest of us seem to be, though one that closely parallels theirs.
"Edward Nygma, aka Riddler is an egotist and an intellectual. He's intelligent and an excellent detective, when he puts his mind to it, and can devise deadly traps, but it's all a matter of whether he has the time to prepare. He has a compulsion to leave riddles and clues at the scenes of his crimes, though I've heard he may have broken that compulsion. If he's caught unawares, he's far less dangerous, though I wouldn't underestimate him enough to say he probably won't have an ace or two up his sleeve. The others claim he's turned over a new leaf and tried to go straight, but I doubt he'll ever stray too far from the shadier side of the tracks.
"Catwoman was a thief. Still is, in my world, but here she seems to be working with us, at least. This isn't the first time she's killed Black Mask, but given what he's done, I think our concern should be capturing and imprisoning him. Besides, the teleporter appears to have given her phasing; holding her against her will would be... difficult.
"Harleen Quinzel, aka Harley Quinn was once a promising young psychologist. Then she was assigned to Joker. Joker breaks most of his psychologists. He decided to twist her into his own plaything instead, and she became enthralled by him. She's not as dangerous as Crane or Joker, but she is willing to kill, given the right circumstances. It does seem like she's lost all memory of her relationship with the Joker since she's come back from the dead, though that may be a side effect of the trauma from him betraying her like that.
"I take it you know enough about Black Mask and Hush?"
no subject
With Catwoman, Harvey just wanted reassurance that she was on the level. Batman didn't seem too concerned about her so neither was he.
Harley was the real knot in the plan. He was going to represent an ex-psychologist who had been driven crazy by a man she no longer remembered. He bit his lip slightly. That could be a problem. Insanity was always a bugger to deal with in court...his mind strayed to Crane and how many criminals he got off with the 'they're insane' policy. The defense could probably use the same sort of thing for Harley to prove she's not fit for testing or whatever.
"Yeah, I've learned enough about those from the others warning us. I just have a few more questions. One: can I help you with anything? You're here, I want to do something. And two," Harvey smirked at Batman, "Riddler's name cannot be Edward Nygma. Come on. E. Nygma? That sounds like something a bad cartoon villain would be named."
