Long Time No See [INCOMPLETE]

WHO: [livejournal.com profile] itsnotaddiction  Matt, [livejournal.com profile] phallboy  M
WHERE: MAC, M's apartment
WHEN: Mid-day, October 16th
WARNINGS: None.

The long elevator ride up to the tenth floor gave Matt time to consider what had happened.

If Mello was taken from our world to this one before he could fully execute our plan, does that mean we failed? Is Kira still operating or will Near figure it all out? Is it possible for us to go back?

His train of thought was interrupted, however, when the elevator came to a smooth halt and the metal door pulled aside.

"Tenth floor," an automated voice proclaimed.

The door to the seventh apartment was just to his left, and he didn't hesitate for even a moment before knocking.

If the bastard's not home, I'll smack him... I hope I'm allowed to smoke inside.

Mello was home and wearing a hole in the carpet. All the distance he'd managed to make from his old life in the past couple days had come crashing down on him. What did it matter whether Stark was on his ass or not if he'd failed in his plan? The whole powers thing was messing with his head. He needed some balance and objectivity, but probably the best he was going to get was Matt.

When he heard the door, he rushed over and yanked it open. "Matt," he said. "Fucking hell. Get in here."

He closed the door behind him. "Food, over there." He pointed to the messy table across from the mini-fridge. "Smokes, scattered pretty much everywhere. I disengaged the smoke alarms, so knock yourself out. I don't have a PSP, but we can probably arrange that."

He sat down on one of Stark's plush chairs and groaned. "God, but this is messed up."

"Yeah, well." Mello shrugged, leaning his head back against the chair's cushion. "It's pretty good for a jail cell, I guess." He paused. "And you're not getting the bed."

He watched as Matt took another drag on his cigarette, thinking about how to answer his question. Kicking off his boots, he sighed and gazed at the ceiling. "Well, I got to that lab - the one you arrived in - without my gun and started shouting at that metal cocksucker, Stark. He gave me a room but no answers, and then he sort of hinted that I might have acquired some kind of bizarre power. Then I got into a fight with a teenage princess who throws fire and almost got the rest of my face burned off, except for the part where I ran away from her faster than she could shoot fire at me. Which kind of answered the powers question. Then I talked to a bunch of people, most of whom were unhelpful assholes, did some retcon to find out where the police went, tried to take over the investigation effort, failed utterly due to a vote of zero confidence, had coffee with Hulkling and shared cute stories about super-powered wars, and . . . yeah, that's just about been my week."

Mello rubbed his eyes. "I'm way out of my depth here, man," he said to Matt, digging around on the table for chocolate amongst the wrappers.

Matt & Mello discussed Kira, the case, and how much it sucks that they're not home and that Near is probably doing all sorts of shit without them. There was semi-gay bonding. THE END.
