[ Another nod, this time followed by a gentle smile. ]
More than good, actually. [ a tiny laugh ] This City tends break bonds as easily as we can make them, sometimes.

My friends... they cherish the bonds between people more than anything else. So, even if the friends I make here go back to their home worlds some day, or if I leave, too... I know that they would keep those feelings alive no matter where they go.
[ Her right hand moves, and curls into a fist against her chest — but, still, her left hand does not leave her right arm. How curious. ]
So... it doesn't matter, if the marks of friendship fade, or we're separated and unable to see each other again. I'll always keep the bonds that are important to my friends, and treasure those people in my heart.

One -- The little girl before him is hiding something.
Two -- She is also in possession of what seems to be a great many pseudo-filial bonds.
Three -- She would be the perfect candidate for his latest experiment.
He smiles, faking a gentle laugh. ]
I envy that conviction. Truly, I do.

You have friends that are very important to you, too, right?
no subject
Some. [ a pause ] None of them are here, however.
don't pretend i can't see those keywords ian
Do you keep in touch with them? [ She smiles, almost teasing. ] I hear it helps.
they are terrible, i know
Sometimes. When you become older, it becomes harder to do so, I think.
crane is becoming exponentially creepier the longer this goes.
it takes time for these things to happen
Time inures us to each other moreso than strengthens bonds we make in childhood. Between families supplanting bonds of friendship, and windows of opportunity to actually experience one another's company becoming smaller and smaller, it's hard for -- at least myself and those I grew up with -- to actually connect with each other all the time, if at all.
It's why I only count two men as being my "friends" instead of simply acquaintances.
by which i was still referring to keywords >>
[ She was, regardless, saddened by his story. ]
I'm sorry you feel that way. But... even if you are apart from the friends you know back home, you can always make new ones, here. It's been much easier for me to make friends here than it was back home.
oooooh. my mistake.
Would there be a point to it?
no subject
Of course there is.

[ Ruka frowns, thinking for a moment. ]
Like asking if there's a point to eating. Part of it's because it's ... necessary, but if it was only that, then people wouldn't bother making things taste good.
no subject
I see no need for it, no.
no subject
[ ... what time was it, anyway? ]
no subject
Do you think me mad, for it?
no subject
[ Car. Ruka slides her hands deeper into her pockets, looking away. ]
You probably have a reason.
no subject
And that reason would be?
no subject
Huh? I don't know... they would be your reasons, sir.

I'm asking if you think it strange that I only possess two friends?
no subject
No, that's not strange.
