Oh lord, won't you buy me a colour TV
WHO: Vash, Elisa, open I guess
WHERE: Somewhere in the City
WHEN: Wednesday night
WARNINGS: none
SUMMARY: IDK Vash is homeless, Elisa's a cop, and the City's the same as it ever was.
FORMAT: Whatever. Paragraph to begin with, but we can switch to whatever's most convenient.
Vash's home these days was a cardboard box. When it was dry he would unfold it and sleep on top of it. When it was wet he would fold it up and use it as his roof. He'd sneak into the YMCA and take a shower thrice a week. It was a hard life. In many ways it was worse than his life in his world. There were ways, however strange and unpleasant, to survive a hike through the desert. Here you had to root through dumpsters. You had more choice. But a choice between indigestion and food poisoning was not a choice Vash wanted to make.
At the moment Vash was wrapped in a blanket, trying to go to sleep.

As she walked past an alley, something drew her eye. Her cop instincts, ever present, told her that this was something that needed investigation. Drawing her gun, she crept down the alley. A large black cat with big green eyes meowed at her as she past. When all she saw was a homeless man, she lowered her gun. "Hey, buddy, you okay?"
KURONEKO SAMA!
YES

She paused for a moment, considering. "So... you're unemployed. Wanna change that?"

Elisa asked him if he wanted to change his employment status, his grin widened. "Would I?!" he exclaimed, clasping his hands in glee.

He certainly seemed earnest. "How about coming to work for the cops? McClane might be able to do something about your tags, and we'll definitely get you a shower and lodgings." She paused. "Don't screw up."

The prospect of working for the cops was a sobering one, though. He'd probably have to keep the whole 'most wanted man of No Man's Land' thing a closer secret even than he had so far. Then again, these weren't the same people, and this wasn't the same world. And a treacherous voice whispered that it would be nice to sleep in a bed again.
"I'll do it!" he said.

"A desert planet." he replied. "We see actual rain once in a red moon."

"So, what're your skills?"
no subject
"I guess the best way to describe what I do is that I'm good at resolving situations non-lethally."

Having a negotiator would be a damn good thing right about now.

Elisa seemed suspicious, which was just as well. Vash had always avoided talking about himself, in case it came up that he was THAT Vash, the Humanoid Typhoon. Here he hadn't really had to worry, until just now. Oh, the irony.

It sounded more like the guy had a deathwish, but his intentions seemed good. Maybe if they trained his bad habits out of him? No, she was thinking like she had a full precinct at her back. She missed having manpower. Still, they needed bodies, and if he was as good a sniper as he was claiming, then she'd take him.

And there was a hint of irony in that statement, if Elisa could catch it. Vash regretted killing, but he didn't regret killing Legato nearly as much.

"So, how about this police job?"

The walk down to the station was passing remarkably quickly. "So, would you be fine with arresting people? Knowing the law and upholding it?"
