What are words for [closed, complete]
WHO: Alastair
hackeralastair and Kiryu
satisfiedsigner
WHERE: the ol' motel
WHEN: after 5 Tuesday
WARNINGS: doubtful
SUMMARY: the boys get into a discussion about their desires (before Alastair goes and satisfies one at a club with Soundwave)
FORMAT: Para to start but if ya wanna quicklog, go for it~
Alastair had spent a good portion of his work day not actually working so much as fiddling. In between actual company-related programming, he had been skimming the network, looking for all the past instances of the Porter-voice and the Iron Suit interfering in the lives of the superhumans, hunting for any evidence that anyone had tried to do anything about its meddling. Aside from the one technopath who got her brain fried, anyway. He knew he was no technopath, his hacking skills wouldn't be enough to sneak in a back door and jack his way into Grinbitch's systems. But gathering information was the first and most important step.
At five on the dot he blasted out of R&D and hopped on his bike, making it home in record time. He had forgotten to encrypt his responses to Soundwave, so he assumed Kiryu knew what his plans for the evening were. But that was later - he wanted to get back to his friend, to relax for a bit, change, eat, and see how Kyosuke was doing, first. No matter what other desires were firing in him, warring for attention, the desire to look after his "brother" was one of the stronger ones and demanded to be obeyed right now. Alastair made a lot of noise coming in, dropping off his stuff in his room, and pounding up the stairs to find Kiryu.

As for Kiryu, he was moving about Saitou's room, which now had a second mattress, packing things into a couple boxes. Mostly his own things, since Saitou never accumulated much. He'd switched back to his Dark Signer form sometime during the day; one of his long lasting desires was to be dead again and that was as close as he was going to get.

"Of course we are." He shrugged, pointedly not look at Alastair while he spoke. "When he comes back, he'll need his stuff."
no subject
"So. I take it that means you want one of the three-bedroom flats," he noted, not upset, but not teasing any longer.
no subject
"Yeah," he answered finally. "It might be good to have extra room anyway, just in case. It's not like either of us won't have the money for it."

"I've done it before," he said softly. His voice shook a little, with pain or anger, he wasn't sure. "What else am I supposed to do? It's not like I can just walk up to that bitch and ask for him back. If it were that easy, there'd be about six more people here already. I have to believe he'll come back."
no subject
He decided he could confide in his friend. His voice was just low enough that the music didn't fully drown it out. "I've been looking for a way to get in and reprogram it. To make it give us what we want. But I can't do it. Not with just computer skills. I can't."
no subject
He paused suddenly, looking thoughtfully down at the mark on his arm. "We probably have enough money to visit Peru for a while, don't we...?"
Alastair's next statement made him look up again, still thoughtful though now actually looking right at him. "Well, I can't help with that. Yuusei was the computer guy, not me. We could all build stuff, but he was the programmer. And there was some technopath girl who got fried when she tried messing with the Porter too a while back, wasn't there? So you couldn't just talk to your boss either..."
no subject
He began to pace a little, treading just inside Saitou's room without going too far. "And we just sit and whine about it, and let it happen. We say we can't do anything except hope and pray - just like you would to some god on his throne in heaven. The kind that never hears our prayers, the kind that lets tragedy happen and never cuts us a break. I'm done giving it that kind of reverence and authority over my life. I'm not gonna let it toy with the people I care about!"
It took a minute for him to realize he was ranting and raving while he paced. Alastair stopped and ruffled a hand in his hair. "Sorry, what? Did you say something about Peru? Sorry, Kyosuke. I've just been thinking about this all day. Looking at the network and seeing if anybody tried anything against the Porter before. You're right, there was the chick who got her mind fried, and the Iron Man-lookalike got blown up. Which makes me think that trying to hack the Porter is going about it the wrong way..."
no subject
"It does act like one," he said, sinking down on his bed. He finally reached out to turn his radio down. A little. Just enough that they didn't have to yell. "But so did that damned dragon, and he's hardly worth my respect...and so did Security..."
A smile crept across his face as he remembered the strike he'd finally taken against Security. It was a pity he was caught so soon after that; his small act of terrorism was so brilliant...
"Peru doesn't matter. I want to visit, but not as much as I want that bitch to get what's coming to her...maybe force her to listen." He reached out to grab his duel disk from next to the head of his bed. Such a basic, rudimentary duel disk compared to what he'd known back home. "When I wanted Security to listen, I used force. They had to pay attention to that..."
no subject
He scratched his chin thoughtfully. "You and I have never really talked about working together before, have we, Kyosuke...?"
no subject
He looked back over at his friend, eyes gleaming with anticipation. "No, we haven't. Did you have something in mind?"
no subject
The grin faded only by a degree or two. "I wonder. What kinds of things can you do? With or without your power - you know, just in case our neighborhood tyrant were to try to stop us by taking powers away again."
no subject
"We did just fine under the circumstances. I might not have trusted the right people, but we still succeeded where no one else did. Of course I wouldn't have gotten caught if I'd had resources like that."
no subject
He gritted his teeth, earnestly willing Kiryu to understand. It was an idle comment, this reaction caught him completely off-guard. He held Kiryu's gaze, staring into those golden-black eyes with firm conviction.
no subject
He just really hated any implication that he wasn't as good as someone else, and right now, he felt that even more than usual.
He still felt tense, even trying to force himself to relax again.
"I can do a lot of things," he finally murmured, certainly feeling in the mood to boast. "Summoning fire and cards, but you know that. I'm pretty sure those are my only powers. I can hold my own against Saitou for...long enough. I rigged a bunch of duel disks to blow up part of the Security building. Dueling, obviously. Our duel-cuffs were my idea...they destroyed the disk of the loser...actually, I'm really good at blowing things up..."
no subject
He leaned in closer; among the desires being amplified in his mind was one that made it so easy to eliminate personal space. His voice was a murmur in Kiryu's ear. "Here's a thought. What if...I found a way to hack into the security around the Porter building, and disable everything...and you planted some explosives around its precious room. Do you think it would listen to us then? If we threatened its existence in a much more visceral way?"
Alastair laughed, low and wicked. "I mean, I could steal a plane and fly it into the building, but I'm not desperate enough to throw away my life this time. We're not gonna lose. We can win."
no subject
He hardly tried to move away when Alastair got so close. The intimacy was hardly unwelcome on his side either.
"Sounds like fun. We'll have to set off at least one as a warning, to prove we're serious...maybe something that won't do too much damage." he trailed his fingers over the duel disk again, his own demeanor almost calm but certainly eager. "She'll have to listen; there's no way she could disable anything physical. You think you can hack her security systems?"
no subject
"It'll be difficult," he admitted, "I won't lie. But I'll get through. I'll spend every day and night on it if I have to. The key is to hack the systems around it, so the Porter doesn't realize it's the target. Not until it's too late and I'm in, and I'm blocking cameras and shutting down motion sensors." He gave another low chuckle. "Yeah, it can't disable your work if you don't connect them to its systems. It won't see you coming at all."
Alastair purred a low, thoughtful hum. "What do you wanna blow up? The lobby of the Porter lab? The MAC? I bet...if I lay an obvious trace and get it to follow my hacks, it'll be distracted. You can get in pretty close."
no subject
"If anyone can do it, it's you." Kiryu reached over to briefly ruffle Alastair's hair. "I know you can. Especially if you know you can."
Kiryu imitated the hum, moving to comb his finger through his own hair. "Not the MAC. I doubt that would make an impression on her. The actual building would be better...as close as possible. Something that would actually endanger her."
no subject
"I won't rest until I've traced all the security connections, hacked the passwords, and disabled everything for a block radius around the building," he bragged. "Hmm. There's gotta be another lab or even a storage closet or something real near the porter-room. Something that'll have lower security, but still be dangerously close to its vital systems. That would work, hmm?" Alastair draped an arm around Kiryu's far shoulder. "I bet I can find floor plans of the building somewhere in Stark's files..."
no subject
He nodded, absently going back to playing with Alastair's hair; if it was going to keep Alastair's attention on him, he was hardly going to keep from indulging his own desires for the moment. "Floor plans would help...but that should work. I know it'd put me on edge if I were her..."
no subject
He nuzzled the crook of his companion's neck. "Looks like I'm in for a couple of long days and nights. What do you need to get started?"
no subject
He shrugged a little, fingers brushing over Alastair's face and neck. "I'll have to look into acquiring a few explosives. But I know people; that'll be the easy part. Adapting them into things that aren't suspiscious might take a day or two."
no subject
"So~...you need a couple days for engineering. I need a couple to make sure I've got every hackable route covered. Sounds like a plan. Should we aim for...mmm closer to Friday? The sooner the better. If we sit on this idea too long, the Porter could pull another one of its tricks on us." He flashed Kiryu an eager grin. "We gotta get the jump on her."
no subject
He leaned down, pressing kisses to his friend's neck as he spoke. "I didn't have anything planned for Friday. I could have things done by then easily." He smirked back up at Alastair. "She'll be listening to us once we're done. No more tricks~"

Crap. That's right, his date. Alastair remembered, but didn't break off right away. He lingered for a little while longer, enjoying every moment himself, though he drew nearer to a point where he could pull back and grin.

He had to blink down at him for a moment before he remembered. "Oh yeah, you have to leave soon..."
no subject
He took a deep breath. The frustration of having to stop would resurface later, surely. Those boys at the club wouldn't know what hit them.

He tugged at the buttons of his "nice" work shirt. "Lemme go change and I'll meet you downstairs. Mm?"
no subject
"Sure. Don't take too long..."
