WHO: Alex and Amara
WHERE: The X-Mansion
WHEN: Sunday night
SUMMARY: Alex and Amara haven't really properly met yet. So they do.
FORMAT: Qqqqquicklog?

[It's night-time and Alex has just gotten back from bodyguarding at one of Dazzler's gigs. He's venturing into the kitchen, intent on fixing himself up a late-night snack and maybe watching some brainless television- although constantly being on the ground at the music scene is starting to get him a little wary of entertainment and showbiz.]

[She looks up from her books, broken out of her intense concentration on the material. Most of the stuff she could teach from common sense about her powers alone, but, she had to be sure.]

Oh... hi. You're up late.

[It felt a little weird to be so familiar with him, talking with him besides customary hello's and goodbye's but Amara was at least attempting to branch out a little with the X-Men in general.]

I'm making some lesson plans.

[She flips through another page, sticking a post-it in the place she wanted to remember to go back over. Amara was nothing if not thorough.

Should she ask him where he was or was that nosy? If he wanted her to know, he would tell her, she decided. Social etiquette aside, it was important to be curious but not TOO curious.]

I've taken a job as an instructor here.

[Being a singer was probably very dangerous. Amara could imagine that having a bodyguard like Alex would probably be beneficial.]

Earth science, for one.

[It was kind of her specialty, if she did say so herself. Which she didn't-- but Amara was definitely thinking it.]

[At that, Amara looks visibly surprised. While she found it fascinating, she didn't think anyone else would ever think it was worth studying. Not anyone around her age, anyway.]

Oh-- really? I started really learning about it after my powers emerged, since they are linked to the earth. It's fascinating, don't you think?

[Well. Someone was excited. Amara can't help but smile a little.]

Yes. By moving the tectonic plates within the Earth's crust, that's how I can create earthquakes. Not enough to demolish a whole city but it can do considerable damage.

[And also linked to how she was feeling that day-- before she got a handle on her power.

Right.]

I'm not sure. Maybe. I don't want to accidentally hurt anyone.

[Sure, she could potentially show them how lava is formed but... a little dangerous.]

i hate you

[That was probably the one image Amara did not need in her mind. Good job bringing up her ex-boyfriend who died, tragically, in a volcano during M-Day. Claps for that, Alex.

She stiffens noticeably.]

I see. I've been in an active volcano before.
