when I step out I'm gonna do you in
WHO: Koltira
deadelfwalking, Lady Liadrin
liadrin, Toro
hangtherisk
WHERE: Somewhere with a lot of clothing shops
WHEN: Shortly after moon-related adventures
WARNINGS: ELVES
SUMMARY: Fantasy characters attempt to update their fashion sense with the help of a slightly more modern friend. Hilarity ensues??
FORMAT: Pararara
Koltira stood in front of the window display, mentally comparing himself to the mannequins behind the glass. Liadrin was beside him, frowning thoughtfully. Despite the still-contentious nature of their relationship, they had both come to the conclusion that they needed to work a little harder to blend in with the people of this City. Of course, certain features neither of them could hide; their long, thin ears and unearthly eyes were impossible to disguise, and Koltira's ashen, cracked-marble skin would forever set him apart.
But they could at least update their clothes, though Koltira had some misgivings.
"Honestly," he said, "I realize it's prudent to keep the attention on us to a minimum, but it's foolish to go without armor. So far I've found this city no less dangerous than any average stretch of land in Azeroth."

YESSSSS....he is a sharp-dressed man.
"While I agree with you, Koltira, I feel like there are plenty of times that our armor is unnecessary. For example: sleeping, or eating, or most of the time we spend indoors. Besides, I would like to have something to wear on special occasions."
The mannequins all had their hair down, she noticed. Reaching back, she pulled the ribbon from her hair and shook her head a few times, allowing it to settle neatly around her ears. "We've fought in wars, how hard can it be to find an outfit, right...?"
sorry for the delay! RL eats my soul
He didn't know the pointy-eared man who'd saved him from a phoenix-like crash a couple weeks back save for his name---Koltira---and the fact that he was every bit as exotic-looking as his named implied. Toro wasn't well versed in the styles of the future, but he did know a thing or two about blending in. He figured he owed Koltira for saving him, so he'd do his best to help him and his lady friend around the mall.
Well, they sure were easy to pick out in a crowd, what with the glowing eyes and hefty armor. Touching down and extinguishing his flame, he waved.
"'Lo!"
no worries m'darlin <3
"Bal'a dash, Tom," he said. Images of their past meeting rose up to the surface of his memory--the boy's fall, Koltira catching him and setting him carefully on the city's cement sidewalks. He noted that, although the young man was clearly not one of the usual residents of this city, that he was, like Koltira and Liadrin, one of the 'imPorted', he wore the flimsy cloth outfits favored by the majority population. "Perhaps you can offer us some advice on all of this."
He gestured to the mannequins with a sweeping motion of his hand. "We are somewhat at a loss."
YAY. :3 Is all good.
The newcomer looked nothing like what she pictured someone associating with Koltira to be, but then again, neither was she. It was a great relief to watch Tom greet the grim looking Death Knight so fondly. He deserved to be treated with kindness for all that he had sacrificed for his people.
Snapping out of her moment of quiet contemplation before either of them noticed, Liadrin quickly arranged her mouth in a polite smile, bowing with one arm swept behind her back.
no subject
"I'm not sure how good my advice'll be, but I'll give it a shot!" Toro said cheerfully, then all but tripped over himself when the pointy-eared lady bowed at him. "You, uh, you don't need to bow at me or nothing. I'm Toro."
no subject
He nodded at the boy, already grateful to have some kind of assistance. He barely understood the expectations and mores of his own society any more, much less those of this city. To Toro, he said, "We thought we should try to ... blend in. As much as people of our race can blend in among humans."
Koltira jabbed a thumb at the frosted glass window and the name printed there--Abercrombie & Fitch--and said, "Do you suppose this kind of shop is appropriate for that purpose?"
no subject
Her hands settled on her hips, she followed Koltira's extended finger to glance at the store front once again. There were a good number of people milling about inside, touching and picking up most everything they could find for inspection.
"It certainly seems popular, this place."
