Remus had been to enough Christmas parties in his lifetime to know when one would end disastrously, including those that had been specifically dated to avoided interfering with other Christmas plans that the guests might have. This was one of them. But his tolerance had kept him quiet, the happy act of cleaning and decorating taken to as easily as any other task he did.

The twins had also been enlisted to help, given the important task of stringing a length of bright red ribbon and pine up the staircase to the second floor. The soft white lights that followed were magic. In fact, none of the lights, save for whatever lamps or overhead lights that Miles insisted upon, were run by electricity, and many were candles, kept only from setting anything ablaze by a flame-freezing charm.

By the time the morning of the party rolled around, the house looked as if it had been pulled straight out of a Christmas card, Remus borrowing from what he remembered of Christmases as Hogwarts and the Burrow, including a single bit of mistletoe in the entry. The snow helped, piling nicely (if in an oddly organized fashion) outside thanks to a little help from Miles, adding to the image; if nothing else, Remus was happy with it, the certainty that he would wind up having to transfigure another person into some sort of object nagging at the back of his mind.

Tin whistles, toy rocking horses, and sprigs of mistletoe were likely going to be very common later in the evening, he mused, tapping his wand rhythmically against the palm of his hand in thought as he checked everything over once more, walking through the sitting and dining rooms and out into the backyard where the tree house had been built out of ice and wood into the tree there. The floating green structures that Kyle Rayner had promised to provide were still missing, but they would be there soon enough.

He pocketed his wand and walked back into the house, shaking free the snow from his boots, and glancing at the clock. People who had offered their assistance had been asked to come early, which meant that the kitchen was soon going to turn into a madhouse, the extra stove only offering so much help. It also meant he had best make tea before he was banned from the room.

"Edgeworth's study," he motioned to the hallway between the stairs and sitting room. "It's at the end of the hall near the back of the house."
shiromadoushi: (Yo!)

Bakura nodded. "Thank you!" he smiled, starting towards the kitchen with his first load, wanting to make sure the food was all taken care of before taking care of the other things that weren't so perishable.

Edgeworth poked his head out of said kitchen after a moment, hearing voices elsewhere, only to see Bakura heading up his way with the armful of foodstuffs.

"Ah?" he mused to himself, wiping his hands on a cloth. So it looked like the first of the prep help had arrived.

"Good morning, then."
shiromadoushi: (Happy ^_^)

All I know fo WHAT he made is that there's salmon that needs cooking, cream puffs, cookies & soba :D

"Good morning! I hope I'm not too early!" Bakura greeted with a huge smile and a small laugh, entering the kitchen to set down the bags gently. "There's six things that just need to be reheated, two that need to be fully cooked, but are all ready to just go into the oven, and three that need refrigeration until they're ready to be served!" he announced. "Let me just take care of my other bags, I'll be right back!" he waved, near bounding off again.

He returned a very short while later, shaking out his apron and tieing it on as he walked.

"Not at all," he replied, making room for Bakura to enter. "I prefer punctuality."

He poked through the bags on the counters, finding and mentally classifying each dish according to what Bakura had listed off--the fish would need to go in, surely, but the cookies were obviousy done, and... well, he wasn't quite sure what the last thing was, some kind of noodle, but it seemed done.

Edgeworth nodded and waved Bakura off while the young man ran to get the rest of his stuff, refrigerating and setting aside the contents of the bags as necessary; when the other returned, he glanced at the apron and allowed himself an amused smirk while gesturing at it.

"Hm. I suppose Remus will have little to say about me now, the next time I choose to use one. Oh--and, er. Thank you. For the assistance."
shiromadoushi: (Embarrassed laugh)

If I were less lazy, I would go find a traditional Japanese menu for this, buuut :)

Bakura gave a small laugh, rubbing the back of his neck. "If it saves a shirt from getting stained, it's worth any teasing from wearing it!" he smiled. And besides, any teasing from his friends was easily deflected with the threat of them not getting to eat what he made, so he wasn't bothered at all by it any longer.

"And it's no trouble!" he continued with a grin, going to check the dishes that hadn't been put away and going to put the box of cream puffs in the fridge. They were a light cream, and those always stayed best chilled. "I'm glad I could help, really!" he smiled, getting up again to refrigerate the soba as well. It was good cold and with everything else that would need heating, a cool dish would probably be a relief later!

no no it's okay <3

"That is true enough," he agreed, thinking of some of his own clothing and how very upset it would have made him to have a splash of popping oil stain it.

There was plenty enough room in the fridge still, and a nearby freezer consisting of a large metal box filled with suspiciously neat and organized compartment walls of ice to boot for when that got filled up.

"This is your fish, however, so I would be pleased to allow you to cook it as you feel is best. I will assist you in that if needed while working on my own items. Is that a satisfactory agreement?"
shiromadoushi: (Yo!)

"That's perfectly fine!" Bakura assured with a smile. "And anything you need help with, please feel free to ask me! I did all the the prepwork for what I brought at home, so it all just needs to be either cooked or heated if anything at all. That way I can help out as much as needed with everything else!"
