WHO: The Doctor and Lyra Silvertongue
WHERE: A Pizza Place
WHEN: Saturday the 2nd
WARNINGS: None
SUMMARY: The Doctor and Lyra have pizza and talk.
FORMAT: Whatever.
The Doctor was in high spirits as he went to the pizza parlor that Lyra had recommended. He wasn't necessarily a big fan of pizza but it was hard to pass up a good old fashioned New York slice of pizza. Or City slice of pizza. Plus, he'd get to talk to Lyra Silvertounge and that would be exciting. He wondered if she'd have the alethiometer. Oh how he'd love to have a look at that. So, it was with a broad grin that the Doctor neared the parlor.

Despite the man's protests otherwise, Lyra was fairly certain he was some kind of seer, or else was working with her father. Although why the man was so enthusiastic about meeting her, she couldn't guess.

"Look at you, live and in the flesh, how exciting! This is really just brilliant."
no subject
"I don't understand why you're so excited to see me- I'm hardly anyone important," she said, gesturing for him to sit down opposite from her.
"What kind of pizza d'you like?"

As if his brain suddenly switched gears, the Doctor glanced over at the pizza and the toppings to offer.
"You know, I like a bit of everything."
no subject
"A bit of everything it is then!" she declared as a waiter came up to the table.
"So... You're a Doctor, en't you? A scholar?" she asked, trying to figure out who on earth this man was exactly.
no subject
"Destined to bring about the end of destiny," the Doctor said, although he sensed her unease with the subject and decided not to push it too much.
"Ohh, and look at that, they have two kinds of bacon. Isn't that brilliant? And the Doctor. And no, not a scholar really. Never liked studying much, always liked doing. Much more fun an educational that, doing is. Who wants to read about how a plane flies when you can take one up yourself?"

"What about different universes?"

"Different universes? But doesn't that... What about Spectres and Dust leaking out?"

"You've been to a lot of different worlds, haven't you. Have you ever heard of anything like what's going on in the City right now? With the 'porter and all?"
no subject
"Specifically like this? No. But similar things? Suuure, happens more often than you'd think."
no subject
"People getting pulled into another world, and what happens there... not really affecting their own world?" Lyra asked, "Well, if it's hard to notice if you're anywhere but the place it's happening, maybe it en't so surprising."
"Why are we really getting pulled here then?" She asked as the pizza arrived.
no subject
"But I intend to find out."

"I'm not sure if anyone really believes that line about us replacing the police force. Not when most of the people who've joined the new one are from this world to start with. And there aren't enough people ported in to replace the police, not even considering the powers it gives them."
no subject
"Several years now, no one's decided that they wanted to be a police officer?"

Lyra grabbed a slice and took a few bites.
"Some of them are too young, like me. Some of them are... well, they're bad people, and some of them just want to live normal lives," she continued.

"Of course, you'd have to ignore most of the stuff that happens here to do that," she added.

"Although there are some people who... well, they're evidence that the 'porter talking about heroes was probably a lie."
no subject
"Very, very bad news."
no subject
"And people don't work together to stop them until something horrible happens."
no subject
Thinking about her second commend, he took another bite.
"Sometimes that's what it takes to bring people together."

"Other stuff... Well, people can't stop what they don't expect."
