Bakura ran down the hall to his friends' apartment, banging on the door. "Alastair-oniichan! Kiryuu-kun! Saitou-san! Are you in there?!"

Bakura nodded, making a visible effort to pull himself together, reaching up to cling to Alastair's shirt slightly as he did so. "Why now..." he asked in a small voice that was still a bit shaky. "I-- if you need it, I have Aoshi-san's comm, you can have it, just in case.. just in case of something like this again."

He had to think about that for a second. "Maybe. I don't know - I'll worry about it later. Right now, just...here, sit down before you fall down." He had to go and close the door, anyway, and make it look like they weren't in here conspiring over anything. Aome had come to investigate the door and sat at the end of the hallway, staring at them and lashing her tail a bit.

Bakura nodded, sitting down slowly, half hiding his face in his hands, trying to further pull himself together and stop worrying. Kiryu and Saitou could take care of themselves, after all... right?

Jono had met with Cole outside of Hell Towers, and the two of them had taken the long elevator ride to the tenth floor. Saitou's apartment was just down the hallway, and Jono knocked immediately, standing back just in case. No telling what Hajime - or his friends - might do.

"Police, open up!"

Cole stood behind him a little further back, hands in his pockets.

This was gonna be an ass-ton of fun, he could just feel in his little grumpy bones. Still felt weird to do all this cop-ey things for some reason, despite him being here so long, but he was here.

"Careful." He added quietly.

Alastair took another deep breath and let it out before going to answer the door. When he opened it, his face was as blank as ever. "Yeah?" he wondered casually. "What's going on?"

The door swung open, and Jono looked into the face of Alistair for the second time in 24 hours. Behind him, Jono could make out a fluffy white head; the distraught healer from the night before. Oh, this would go well.

"We're looking for Saitou Hajime," Jono said honestly, but didn't add the part about the arrest warrant. Not yet. Part of him still couldn't believe they were doing this.

"Have you seen him?"

Cole really had no idea what to expect, especially looking at these two. He kept his hands in his pockets and stayed quiet, but gave Alastair a brief nod just to show he was with Jono.

Nodding back, Alastair shifted out of the way in case the two wanted to come inside. He recognized Jono, at least. "I don't know where Saitou is, no," he said, rather honestly. "I haven't seen him since we all went to work yesterday morning."

Bakura got up, eyes wide. "He's not-- he's not at work...?" he asked, walking over, still a little shaky as he looked between Jono and Cole. "Something-- something didn't happen to him, did it?!" There was an edge of worried panic in his voice which he didn't even really need to fake.

Jono didn't really have the heart to answer Bakura directly; the kid was a wreck, seemed like.

"Mind if we come in?" He asked Alistair instead. It was doubtful Saitou was here, and it seemed the two blokes had no clue about what had happened, never mind that they might be harbouring him, but Jono and Cole had a duty to fulfill.

"We just need to ask a few questions." Cole added quickly, pretty much thinking along the lines Jono was.

"Yeah, sure," Alastair shrugged, putting an arm around Bakura's shoulders to guide him out of the way of the bigger guys. "It's just me and Bakura here - I'm looking after him, after what happened last night...with Blue."

He shot Jono a meaningful look. "...should we be worried? Is he right, did something happen?"

Bakura leaned in to the half embrace, seeming to almost be half hiding against his brother as he let himself be guided. "He's-- he's not--" he broke off, as if he just couldn't finish his sentance.

Jono followed Alistair inside, but didn't sit down: regardless, he tried not to loom too much.

"You might want to have a seat for this," he told the boys, then looked over at Cole and back.

"D'you mind if Officer MacGrath takes a look around?"

Jono wanted out of there. He was no good in these situations.

Cole followed in, taking his hands out of his pockets this time and rubbing his hands idly.

He gave Jono a brief 'wait, what' look before simply shrugging and nodding. These things weren't much of his forte either, especially having never been a police officer in his life. He never had to question anybody like this, much less search somebody's house. Was there some kind of 'right way' to do it, besides shuffling around...?

He looked at the others expectantly.

Best he kept his mouth shut in case he said something stupid.

Alastair looked from Jono to Cole with a slight sense of suspicion, but there wasn't anything he was hiding. Kiryu and Saitou hadn't even been back to grab clothes or bags or anything, they were just gone as if out for the day. "Yeah, I guess," he said without hesitating too long. "Just don't let the cat get out, she's around here somewhere."

He made Bakura go back and sit on the couch again. "Now. What's so big and important? What the hell's going on?"

Bakura was shaking a little as he went to sit, looking to be barely keeping himself together as he expected to hear the worst possible outcome.

"Last night, about the time we were handling the case in Central Park, Saitou Hajime assaulted Assistant Commissioner Maza," Jono said neutrally, then paused. "She is in the hospital as we speak. He was resisting arrest on grounds of murder. Saitou fled the scene, and we've not been able to trace him. Maza is in the hospital, currently."

He sighed. Bakura looked like he was about to fall apart.

"I don't think I have to tell you how bad this is."

"I'll... keep it in mind." Cole simply said with a raised eyebrow.

He watched them for a minute, eying Bakura especially. Poor kid. He tried to give the most reassuring look he could before he got to work. Figured he might as well start in this room, even if it was kind of awkward having some guy toss your stuff around in the middle of your conversation. The logic was that they could at least see what he was doing, but...

For now, he went around opening the drawers, cabinets, whatever was around to open as he carefully inspected the open surroundings.

He would have added something, but Jono pretty much summed up his feelings too.

Even though he knew what Saitou did months ago, having it stated like that even took Alastair aback enough that he didn't have to feign surprise. "What? He...did? Wait, murder - whose murder, what are you talking about?"

Bakura stared, utterly stunned. "He-- Saitou-san wouldn't-- he wouldn't do something like that!" he protested, voice shaking.

He also didn't have to fake any surprise, having utterly no idea of what had gone on at all.

"One John Cavil," Jono said; Hajime'd already broadcast it to the comm long ago, apparently, so there was no point in being discreet now.

"I'd not thought he could attack another officer, but he did at that," Jono said, voice slightly bitter; he tried to level out his tone. "We've evidence he did it, and not just from community posts."

"It's important that we catch up with him, and fast."

"... You never know, people suprise you sometimes." Cole murmured very quietly to himself at Bakura's comment as he kept poking around. Realized he said that outloud, he covered it up by adding to what Jono said.

"Before anything else happens."

He never talked to their 'suspect' much, so he didn't have much of an opinion on the guy or much of an idea what was 100% happening. But he knew what had to be done NOW.
