WHO: Sally Blevins and Warren Worthington III
WHERE: All that Jazz and then somewhere to eat. McDonalds anyone?
WHEN: Monday at lunchtime.
WARNINGS: Nope
SUMMARY: Sally takes Warren out for lunch.
FORMAT: Para to start and then whatever.
Sally had spent the morning trying to figure out exactly where to try and take Warren to lunch. She couldn't afford anywhere high class. After innocently telling Sam that she might be taking her old friend to McDonalds, which had caused the boy to laugh, she wasn't all that sure how good an idea it was. Her options were limited. Well, unless she dipped into the money she was setting aside to buy a new wardrobe. Warren possibly warranted more than saving money for a killer pair of shoes. Possibly. Except it would be nice to have more than the pair she was currently wearing.
She headed over to All that Jazz just before the lunch rush and poked her head into Warren's office.
"Are you ready to go and try some fine cuisine?" she grinned.

Not fun.
Lunch break though? That was definitely more than welcomed. Once he was finished, Warren closed his laptop and pulled on his jacket (in a very untimely fashion, of course, considering the wings and all). "Where are we going? Do you need me to fly us, or...?"
no subject
She realized she was babbling and scrunched her nose, annoyed with herself. "But we should go instead of discussing the various ways to get there."
no subject
Just not often because walking didn't feel as natural to him; he couldn't help it! Today could be an exception though, since it was Sally and all, and they hadn't exactly got to spend much time catching up since she arrived.
"Shall we?"
no subject
Sally stopped outside the storefront with the golden arches painted on the window and grinned. "I hope you like burgers and fries!"
no subject
McDonald's.
Well then.
Wasn't there rumours around about how their burgers weren't actually burgers but were actually rats and people's fingers and stuff? Ahem.
Pushing that thought aside, Warren kept the smile on his face. "Of course I do!"
Maybe he'd get lucky and they'd have salads and lattes here, too.
no subject
She glanced up at the menu.
"Preferably without falling on my face."
Sally looked up at and grinned before turning to order herself a burger, fries and milkshake. She couldn't believe all the choices that were now available. A McRib? What in the world...
"And then whatever he's having," she told the cashier and stepped aside so Warren could order.

The lady behind the counter cleared her throat impatiently, and Warren glared. "Give me that Filet O'Fish thing. Chicken Caesar salad...and fruit parfait?"
Okay, maybe it wouldn't be that bad. But it was so cheap! That surely would affect the quality and possible bacterial levels, right? Eek.

"I'm not exactly sure what it would be like but that's probably the best way to describe it. It'll take some time to figure it all out." She handed him his soda cup and began filling her own. "It won't be like real flying but it's an approximation of it."
She gathered their tray of food and waited for him to pick a drink. "How's your car?"
no subject
"Oooh let's see. My alignment is screwed up. The street salt wrecked my paint job. The interiors had drinks and food and garbage all over the place--not to mention clothes. It's sitting in the shop at the moment; I took it there when I went around returning all of the video games and music instruments and clothes and whatever I could to all of the disgusting stores they came from."
Grumble, grumble.
"I'm just thanking God that they couldn't find a way to spend anything in my bank accounts."
no subject
She took a breath to calm herself down. Talking about fake Dazzler easily riled her. "Other you wasn't so bad. That sucks about your car though. You can get it fixed, right?"
no subject
Warren scrunched up his face and finished pouring his drink and stuck a lid on it. "The car'll be fixed. It's just more money to cough up. You know. Because I obviously don't spend enough already."
Henh.
no subject
"I'm not actually laughing at you." Oh she is. "I had this weird flashback of when we were all on Ship and getting scolded for one of Tabitha's schemes. And that is the exact kind of expression you would've had."
She grinned and dipped her fries into her milkshake. "Memories."
no subject
"You're hilarious," he deadpanned and unwrapped his sandwich. His interesting sandwich that didn't look like real fish at all. "How's Tabby doing anyways? I heard she and Sam broke up."
no subject
Sally stared at her fries for a long moment as she tried to get her thoughts in order. "She's not at the X-Force base anymore. Domino stopped me on my way home from All that Jazz one night to talk about Cable and then basically ask me to keep an eye on her. That's hard to do when no one knows where she is." Some days she thinks no one really cares either but best not to dwell on that right now.
She looked up and frowned, her food forgotten for the moment. "The last time I talked to her she was going on about foxes and something trying to get her. I told her to come to me and I'd help keep her safe but she said I couldn't do that and be safe and then she cut the feed. Something is wrong and I don't know what to do."
no subject
"Maybe you could ask the Cuckoos or Rachel to look for her telepathically?" Warren suggested. Maybe Tabby just didn't want to be found and was talking crazy talk just to be able to get away for awhile, who knows. "Even if you don't go and talk to her, at least you'd know she's safe?"
no subject
"I don't know. Maybe?" She sighed and poked at her fries. "Everyone says she's different than the girl I used to know. Do you think she is?"
no subject
And Warren honestly believed this. If Cable hadn't gotten into his head both times, then the Horseman in there would have gotten people killed. Straight up. Cable had even apologized to Warren after, saying he only did it because it needed to be done.
"Did you ever think that maybe he had a reason to go in there? You're the one who said there's something wrong with Tab, and I'm sure if you noticed, he did too."
no subject
Sally shrugged and took a moment to eat some fries. "I think he probably was wanting to help her."
no subject
"Have you ever considered talking to Nate about it?"
no subject
She perked up considerably as she remembered how old Cable was at the moment. "I'll have to wait until he's not a teenager anymore though," she snickered. Younger Cable would never cease to be amusing.
no subject
An amused snort. "How's that going?"
no subject
She shook her head and picked up her burger. "Definitely better than worrying about what some of the others who have been switched in are up to."
no subject
"But if you're having fun, then he can't be all that bad, right?"
no subject
"Our lives are very weird." Grinning, she took another bite of her burger. "And what do you mean you were somewhere relatively close to his future?"
no subject
"Year 2993. It was about 1000 years off of Cable's time, but it was ruled by Stryfe and, to some degree thereafter, Apocalypse. You want to talk about having a crappy life, well that place about sums it up."
