(no subject)

WHO: Rue, Fakir, and Mytho.
WHERE: That one hippie yoga a school.
WHEN: Backdated to right after the switchback Monday night.
WARNINGS: Flailing, the assumptions that come with waking up in bed with two teenaged boys.
SUMMARY: Rue is switched back from her tiny self. Nothing wrong there. Rue is switched back from her tiny self while sleeping with Fakir and Mytho. Shit.
FORMAT: Paramagraph

Rue had fallen asleep fairy early that night, exhausted by the excitement of the past two days. She couldn't remember ever staying with her prince so long, or having so much fun. It was wonderful, and a very secret part of her guiltily hoped she could stay here forever.

While she was deep asleep, thinking these peaceful thoughts, her slumbering body blurred a little around the edges, and she felt an odd jolt, not painful, but more than enough to wake her up. When she opened her eyes, she was met with Mytho's sleeping face, and at first, in her grogginess, thought nothing odd about it. He'd finally forgiven her, she thought, and had come to comfort her.

With this lovely thought in mind, she shifted slightly to snuggle closer to him. As she did, she moved her foot a little, and felt it hit another warm leg on her other side. Puzzled, Rue sat up on her arm, and craned her neck to see who it was.

And then a high, piercing, feminine scream echoed through the house.

Mytho's eyes shot open in utter terror at the scream. A terror that all but doubled as he realized who it was screaming.

Rue. Not the small Rue whom had been a comfort, but the older Rue, the one who had-- who had--

He scrambled back away from her, chest heaving, utterly petrified.

AT LAST, A CHANCE TO USE THIS ICON IC

Awoken (naturally!) by the shrieking, Fakir shot bolt upright with a garbled yelp, looking around in frantic horror for the source of the screaming. When he saw Rue, he thankfully didn't join her in screaming. Really, it took him a moment to parse exactly what was going on. When he did, though...

"Shut. Up!"

[identity profile] lovemedangit.livejournal.com 2010-03-11 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
Mytho didn't respond, just curling into himself, starting to shake.

The Rue that didn't make him afraid, the Rue he had felt what he had hoped was happiness with...

No... no, no, no, it wasn't--

His shoulder's hunched in as the Raven's blood grew stronger, feeding on his fear and anguish.

"That damned machine did something. It's hard to explain, so just calm down so I can try," Fakir spat. He looked over at Mytho, concerned. "Mytho?"

[identity profile] lovemedangit.livejournal.com 2010-03-11 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
Mytho's shaking didn't subside. "... went back to being that Rue..."

[identity profile] insourarmor.livejournal.com 2010-03-11 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
"The same one that brought us here. You're not helping by shouting, so just..." Fakir sighed, hands clenching at his sides. He went to Mytho, dragging the blanket from the bed with him to cover him up. "There isn't any reason to be afraid."

[identity profile] insourarmor.livejournal.com 2010-03-11 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Fakir shot her a killing look and wrapped the blanket around Mytho. "It changed you, like it changed a lot of other people. You became a little girl, like you were when you first knew Mytho. At least, I think the machine did it."

[identity profile] lovemedangit.livejournal.com 2010-03-11 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
Mytho clutched at the blankets. "Before you starting hurting me...."

There was a edge in his voice, unstable and uneven as his hair hid his eyes.

[identity profile] insourarmor.livejournal.com 2010-03-11 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Very little. Five years old, maybe," Fakir replied, straining to keep his voice level and calm. The change in Mytho's tone wasn't lost on him. It unsettled him.

[identity profile] lovemedangit.livejournal.com 2010-03-11 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
"You took her place again..."

[identity profile] insourarmor.livejournal.com 2010-03-11 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Mytho brought you here," Fakir said, oddly enough without any bitterness. He put an arm around Mytho's shoulders and hushed him. "Pull yourself together. She isn't going to hurt you."

[identity profile] lovemedangit.livejournal.com 2010-03-11 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
"Isn't going to hurt me...?" Mytho nearly laughed. "She always says that... have you started believing her, Fakir...?"

elllll jaaaaaaaaaaaay D:<

[identity profile] insourarmor.livejournal.com 2010-03-11 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
Fakir recoiled, almost shuddering. That... that wasn't good.

"I won't let her hurt you," he said, hoping to placate him. "Just be calm. It's all right."

[identity profile] lovemedangit.livejournal.com 2010-03-11 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
Mytho looked up, eyes still mostly gold, but losing ground to the red of the Raven's blood. "How many times do I need to sacrifice myself until you're happy...? How many times forgiving only to be hunted and hurt once more...? Kraehe... Rue... one face for another until every mirror is shattered like my heart!" he ended on a near hysterical shout, eyes darkening. "Should I give it to you, Kraehe...? Rip it out myself and hand it to you so you'll finally be satisfied...?" His voice trembled, fingers digging into the blanket.

[identity profile] lovemedangit.livejournal.com 2010-03-11 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
Mytho gave a small, unstable smile. "Every time I've forgiven you, you've hurt me even worse, Kraehe..."

[identity profile] insourarmor.livejournal.com 2010-03-11 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
Fakir felt almost trapped in this situation, two people shouting over him, Mytho losing his mind again. And Rue there, angry but (hopefully) not dangerous. He stood, drawing a deep breath and holding his fists at his sides.

One hand, though, didn't stay in place long. It shot out, open palmed onto the wall with a loud, attention-grabbing WHAM.

"Rue. Shut up. Do you have any idea what you've done? There are some things that can't be forgiven, and that you can't fix just by begging and pleading and apologizing. And after- After what you did, rotting his heart out like you did, changing him, I'm surprised he's trusted you this long."

This all would have sounded totally reasonable, if harsh, if the volume of his voice hadn't been creeping up with every other word.

[identity profile] lovemedangit.livejournal.com 2010-03-11 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
"Until you sacrifice what's left of my heart to your father...? Or until I do it for you...?"

[identity profile] lovemedangit.livejournal.com 2010-03-12 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
Mytho tensed at that. "Then why do you make my heart hurt...? Why did you do this to me, Kraehe?!"

[identity profile] insourarmor.livejournal.com 2010-03-12 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
"And the thought of having him was worth losing what you loved about him?" Fakir asked a moment after Rue had fallen silent. His voice was cold, but not distant. Rather, it was pointed and direct. In a way, he resented the return of his enemy just as Mytho did.

[identity profile] lovemedangit.livejournal.com 2010-03-12 06:18 am (UTC)(link)
Mytho gave a low, humourless laugh. "So even in that, you wanted to hurt me..." His voice was unstable, wavering in pitch. "To break my wings before they had even grown..."

[identity profile] insourarmor.livejournal.com 2010-03-12 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Fakir opened his mouth to attack Rue again, but relented. Partly in hopes to put an end to the hostility in the room that was upsetting Mytho, and partly out of something he would later rationalize as misplaced sympathy.

He sighed.

"Rue. Just leave."
