WHO: Hiei, Yusuke Urameshi, probably Kurama and Yukina and Kuwabara later.
WHERE: Some street somewhere, then the MAC.
WHEN: tonight
WARNINGS: no
SUMMARY: Hiei, sick as a proverbial dog, decides he maybe ought to go get some help.
FORMAT: mmm paragraph to start and...idk maybe quick will be better if so we can switch in the comments.

Hiei had known something was wrong. He had known it yesterday when he developed a cough and inexplicably runny nose, both things he had never really experienced before; at the time he had merely written it off as a human bug and raised his body temperature to burn it out.

Now, with a staggering fever and even worse symptoms, Hiei rather thought it was time to seek someone else's advice. Kurama's, maybe, or Yukina's, though he would hate to bother Yukina and--

--his mind was wandering. That was far from ideal.

So he staggered down the street, aiming himself in the general direction of the MAC, and focused on staying on his feet.

Throw Kuwabara in there too bb. He'd best be showing up with soup.

It'd started out with the fever. Which, okay, Yusuke had written off as just being overheated and discared his jacket. But then he'd started throwing up, and shivering so badly he'd had to put his jacket back on. Curling up in bed had seemed like a reasonable course of action, except he'd always hated being stuck in bed. And it was worse here, because there was no Keiko to come by and visit him. So he'd yanked his jacket on, grumbling angrily under his breath, and left the apartment.

Nevermind that he had to keep stopping to lean against buildings. He was going out exploring and he was not sick. If he said it strongly enough, it had to be true, right?

He made it a few blocks before realizing, oh hey, he knew that familiar, staggering midget. Maybe walking over and nudging Hiei with the toe of his sneaker wasn't the nicest way to make an entrance, but Yusuke's limited social skills had taken a nose dive along with his health.

"Hey, Hiei."

FF YES. THIS LOG IS SRS BSNS. AND BWAHA, "IN SHORT."

[personal profile] spiritgun 2010-03-17 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Nah, already done that today."

He supressed the urge to keep pushing with his foot and knock Hiei over. There would be plenty of time for midget-tipping later, when Yusuke could properly enjoy it. Right now, he was already about to topple over himself if he didn't lean against something. Not that he'd admit it. Ever.

"You got that thing they were talking about on the comm?"

SNRK. /REFRAINS FROM SHORT JOKES

[personal profile] spiritgun 2010-03-17 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
Now was not the time to point out that it wasn't drivel. This argument could wait.

"You heading back to your tree? I'll give you a boost, if you need it." Yusuke asked, at least attempting tact.
spiritgun: (looool srsly?)

PFFT. SHORT JOKES ARE TTLY ALLOWED WHATCHU TALKING ABOUT.

[personal profile] spiritgun 2010-03-17 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
There was nothing that could stop Yusuke from snickering just a little at that. The thought of Hiei toppling out of a tree was funny, in a really juvenille way. But then again, it was Yusuke. That sort of thing was right on his level.

"So where are you dragging yourself off too?"
spiritgun: (looool srsly?)

IGNORE THE PINT-SIZED DEMON. FOLLOW YOUR HEART BB.

[personal profile] spiritgun 2010-03-17 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Because you need me to help you get there."

Two staggering invalids were better than one, after all.
spiritgun: (feeling lucky punk?)

OF COURSE. BRING ON THE SHORT JOKES.

[personal profile] spiritgun 2010-03-17 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
"Aren't we full of compliments today." Yusuke said, coughing. He'd take another round of Genkai's training over this, and that was saying something.

"I'm fine. Now shut up and let me help you."

[personal profile] spiritgun 2010-03-17 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Which would have happened. Really, it would have, except Yusuke was having enough trouble keeping himself upright without the dead weight of a tiny demon involved. Which mean Yusuke's options were sort of limited to pushing Hiei along with his foot.

"Yeah, you do. C'mon, stop being difficult."

YUSUKE IS TAKING NO CHANCES.

Yukina couldn't quite explain the feeling that nagged at her to get back home to Kurama's apartment, but it was persistent, and she had cut her time at the Clinic short. She had done what she could with her healing abilities, while keeping a good portion of her spirit energy in reserve. A very strong gut feeling was telling her that she needed to conserve it for something, and it was a good idea to trust instincts.

She arrived home roughly twenty minutes after Hiei and Yusuke had fumbled over to the apartment. In spite of having a somewhat full day, her eyes were wide and alert.

"I'm back," she greeted as she entered the apartment. She took her shoes off, and noticed that Yusuke was there. She also sensed Hiei's spirit energy somewhere nearby...although something was off. Yusuke didn't seem quite right either.

"Is something wrong?" she asked after a moment.
spiritgun: (Default)

Well hello you!

[personal profile] spiritgun 2010-03-20 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
Yukina saved Yusuke from the awkward mental debate he was having about whether or not to inquire after Kurama's mother and life with said mother. Goddamnit Kurama, why you gotta leave openings like that? But nevertheless, Yukina to the rescue. Yusuke flashed her a bright smile, or as bright a smile as someone who was feverish and had spent most of the morning throwing up could manage.

"Hey, Yukina." He said, shifting around on the sofa. "I've got the flu, and I think Hiei does too. Kurama's making soup. How've you been?"

hey thar bb~

[identity profile] aromaticpain.livejournal.com 2010-03-20 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah, Yukina. You've returned," Kurama said with a smile, looking up from his in-progress soup.

"Hiei is in my bedroom sleeping. I'm sure he'd like to see you."

Also, Hiei is short.

Late tag is late!

[identity profile] maidenofice.livejournal.com 2010-03-21 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm doing quite well, thank you," said Yukina with a small smile, although she frowned with concern at the thought of both Yusuke and Hiei being ill. "The 'flu'...that's the same thing all the people were coming into the Clinic with today. I'm sorry you're not well, Yusuke. I'll be sure to heal you. But if you're able to eat still, that's a good sign. Once you have some soup, I'll heal you afterwards."

She nodded to Kurama, concerned that Hiei was actually sleeping in a bed. Even if Hiei had promised he would come to her for healing when he needed it, Yukina was still fairly sure that he wouldn't have come unless he was feeling absolutely horrible. Still, she was glad that he was here with friends rather than out somewhere outside suffering alone.

"I'll go see Hiei then...but have you heard from Kazuma? I do hope he's not sick with this as well. I'm glad you haven't caught whatever this illness is, Kurama."

Come to think of it, Yusuke hadn't heard from Kuwabara since that video on the comm, but Kuwabara was alright, judging by that. He was probably just off studying or being old and responsible, or something.

"I'm fine, Yukina." That was Yusuke's story, and he was sticking to it. It was just a little flu, nothing to worry about. "Go heal Hiei. Maybe he'll complain less if he's not throwing up everywhere."

Good luck finding him. He's so small, he might have gotten lost in Kurama's sheets.

Late tag is also late!

[identity profile] aromaticpain.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
"I hope he's not throwing up in my room," Kurama mused quietly, his soft tone rather belying the sarcastic nature of the comment.

"Yes, why don't you go check on him, Yukina. I'm sure he'd love to see a familiar face."

The short joke in this tag has been excused on account of tormenting Hiei with Yukina exposure. You're welcome.

[identity profile] maidenofice.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
"I hope he's done with throwing up all together," said Yukina worriedly, making her way quickly to Kurama's room.

She opened the door quietly and closed it behind her, approaching Hiei's bed slowly. Oh no, that didn't look good at all. Hiei looked very ill, and she hoped she wasn't interrupting rest that he very clearly needed.

"Are you awake?" she asked softly. "I'm here to heal you, and Yusuke too."

[identity profile] maidenofice.livejournal.com 2010-03-24 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
"I'll take care of Yusuke as soon as he has some of the soup Kurama's kindly preparing. Yusuke said you've been throwing up...so if I heal you first, then you'll be able to eat some of the soup, too. And then you can get some food and rest and be all better for tomorrow."

She noticed the stones, and it added more weight to her theory that Hiei was, in fact, her brother. However, she wasn't going to bring the topic up with him. Not now. He was obviously ailing, and if he'd wanted to talk about it, he would have brought it up himself at some point.

She touched his forehead, eyes widening a little as she realized how hot his skin was.

"When did you first notice that you were sick?" Yukina asked.

She held her hand to his forehead and used a very faint bit of her spirit energy to create a little bit of paper-thin ice to try to cool Hiei down before she started to heal him.

[identity profile] maidenofice.livejournal.com 2010-03-24 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm glad you didn't wait any longer to come here," she said softly. "Some people have gotten even sicker with the same kind of illness, and I heard a few have actually died."

With the time she'd spent in the City, she was becoming increasingly more proficient with using her healing abilities - largely because she was getting so much more practice than she once had. Yukina was able to use her spirit energy more efficiently now than she had before, and heal more damage with less energy. Learning more about medicine in other worlds and starting to study more about how bodies worked also helped.

Yukina began to use the healing energy. She worked in silence so that she could focus better.
