Time to make the doughnuts

WHO: OPEN
WHERE: EVERYWHERE
WHEN: between Wednesday morning (3/17) and the end of the zombie plot
WARNINGS: prolly icky violence
SUMMARY: ZOMBIE FIGHTINGS. This is an open log, like last time, so go where you will, form your own zombie-killing teams or meet new fellow fighters on the street! Tag yourself in, and use subject headers to indicate time and/or location as you wish.
FORMAT: everything.

They're everywhere.

So many people falling sick meant so many zombies suddenly flooding the streets, pouring out of the hospitals where no one could help, stumbling out of their homes, obeying their master's orders.

They need to be taken down before they kill the healthy. Before the City is in ruins and the living are wiped out. They need you, heroes.

MIND IF I CUT IN, LADIES?

He hadn't been far behind, but also removed from the battle. He had no true wish to participate in the rescue of others, particularly if they were of little use to him, which he considered Koltira and Jaina to be in the useless category. However, the Scourge and the possibility to personally burn down the Lich King himself was too great a temptation.

Therefore he came, lending what mana he could to the Sin'dorei, and keeping plenty in reserve for himself. Around him, the scourge fell in droves, the zombies not able to come close before his sheer aura of dark energy drove them back, and then he lashed out, a trail of blue flame surging from the ground in the path of the direction he was looking.

He wasn't moving. Light damn him, he wasn't moving!

Liadrin stumbled to her knees beside Koltira, slipping an arm beneath his neck in an attempt to hoist him up to his feet, to coax him from his own misery long enough to get away. It was the first time since returning that she'd been able to look upon his face and all she saw staring back at her was guilt.

But it didn't matter, she hadn't rushed here just to leave him behind. Her fingers clamped down on the back of his breastplate, snarling in determination as she began to stand. Her leg gave out just as she managed to rise a few inches from the ground; she'd not eaten, not slept, not done anything but spend and siphon magic. Adrenaline was the only thing giving her strength. Again she tugged, and this time was successful in dragging Koltira onto her back. The consecrated earth was holding the ghouls at bay, but turning back meant walking back into the battle, and it would be almost impossible for her to cast.

It had been some time since she'd barked orders, but her voice rang out clear and strong as she called to her allies, "Clear me a Light forsaken path through this mess and end them all!!!"

Lyra, who had almost reached the spot of consecrated ground, shouted her assent to Liadrin. She redoubled her efforts, and telekinetically tore into the zombies, smashing the ones near her with the pieces of rubble she'd gathered, moving forward until she was standing on the very edge of the consecrated ground.

She and Pantalaimon snapped their gazes to Liadrin for an instant, both girl and daemon's eyes filled with the same wild intensity, waiting for her to move towards them while they kept destroying the undead that drew near.

Toph, not far behind Lyra, slammed her feet into the pavement and flung her arms straight out. The ground itself lifted and flipped over in huge blocks, crushing any undead in its path.

Backing along to keep close to her friend, she kept at it, sometimes crushing the things with blocks of pavement, sometimes sending them flying.

Link heard Liadrin's call for aid and rushed through the hordes, dodging and diving like the lithe, fast little warrior he was. He pulled his bow from his inventory and an arrow from his quiver.

Now would be a really good time for a Light Arrow to work! he thought to himself as he drew back the arrow on the bow. He turned around briefly to see Liadrin struggling to keep Koltira in her grasp. She was tired. Exhausted really. For the sake of this City... Link turned back to the horde in front of him and the arrow and bow began to glow with a bright, holy light. Scourge in the immediate area hissed and drew back.

Then he fired. The arrow didn't stop when it hit one zombie. It didn't stop when it hit two, or even three. It cut a burning, searing swath through the masses, only stopping once it had lost most of its momentum.

He panted a bit. Using Light Arrows was a huge draw on his personal stores of mana, which were quite small. He then turned back, searching the crowd for Lady Jaina. She would need assistance as well.

"Lady Jaina!!"

When he drew nearer the building, Tirion paused, only long enough to gauge the situation. Lady Proudmoore's spells were impossible to miss, and she seemed to be holding her own; as such he veered more towards Liadrin's position, trusting that the other Paladin would be at Koltira's side.

At Liadrin's call for assistance he smiled grimly, forging ahead and attempting to do just that, cutting down the ghouls in reach between them. As soon as the blood elf was in sight and within earshot he paused to cast a blessing upon her-- too distracted by the battle for anything as complex as a proper healing, having always been more a warrior than a spellcaster-- before taking out another swath of the undead.

Also Late...

Ken stayed at the back of the group, by Toph's side. Always sure to keep a watch on Lyra as his eyes lit up with a crackling blue energy. The boy telekinetically pushing large groups of zombies to the ground.

Wormmon was by his side the small insect like digimon spitting a steady stream of of webbing, entangling ghouls right and left.

Despite the anger and desperation that had built up over days of being unable to stop this horrible plan, Jaina found her spirits bolstered by the presence of her allies - they had allies, even so far from home - and turned to help Liadrin clear a path as she'd asked.

"Freezing Field."

A sudden gust of bitterly cold wind howled through the area, with small pockets of frozen air coalescing into existence in a rough line in front of Liadrin. The bubbles swelled and then - without warning - exploded, bursting in pulses of magical energy that were made all the more lethal by the spikes of ice propelled outward by every blast.

Finally, Mar'i landed. There was now plenty of room for her to land and pause with little problem. And pause she did, and for a moment, it seemed as if she exhausted her power.

Then she turned back to the zombies, and her hands lit up again as she allowed herself to hover a few inches off of the ground. A long starbolt suddenly shot out of each hand, incinerating zombies with a several yard radius. After a minute, the girl began to twirl, a half-human helicopter cutting down swaths of zombies like fan blades.

Liadrin felt her own sweat mingle with the traces of ichor from Koltira's wounds as it seeped down through the cracks in her armor. She wanted to scream every last curse she'd ever heard to his limp body in Thalassian for having to carry him in such a state. She wanted not to have to admit to herself that he'd given up the fight.

The Blood Knight trembled wearily mid-step and she paused in fear that she would collapse, but unexpectedly her strength was bolstered by the Light-- just barely-- and she set her eyes upon Tirion and the others doing their best to clear a path. Even if Koltira could not care for his own life, they would do it for him. With such determination in mind, she rushed through the crowds, ramming and trampling any creature that got in her way. Liadrin did not slow until she'd reached the very edge of the battle, until she was sure he'd be safe.

And that was exactly where she dropped him as she struggled to catch her breath.

SURPRISE CAMEO

[identity profile] necromaniacal.livejournal.com 2010-03-19 07:15 am (UTC)(link)
"Lordaeron," the necromancer spoke from above, his voice hoarse and unnatural. Even with the reverb of undeath, something was not quite right with Kel'Thuzad. While normally full of spitfire on a good day, the Lich looked particularly skeletal and drained of energy, no doubt from having held Koltira and Jaina for as long as he had. "Esarus thar no'Darador. Peaceful land of the people, by blood and honor we serve. Common is such a simple language...wouldn't you agree?" A few of the broken zombies had slowly (very slowly) begun to rebuild themselves -- shadow magic danced around their corpses and weaved their way anew in time with Kel'Thuzad's fingers, also laced in shadow.

"To think the principals of Lordaeron would carry over into their most hated enemies...even the Scourge. In the honor of our master and by our blood, we serve." When his laughter came, it was broken, chipped, and not at all the spear of sound it once had been. "Haven't you realized it yet, heroes? Death is inevitable. Undeath will follow each and every mortal to fall in this dirt clout, no matter how far away from Azeroth we are placed."

The Lich swaggered, but he dare not leave the safety of height -- not with all the righteous fury brewing just below. The zombies he had worked to reconstruct rose again and launched themselves at the group -- it was hardly the horde that was first their when they arrived, but it would have been enough to be an irritant.

"And Liadrin, my dear..." Kel'Thuzad added as he prepared to retreat. "Master will be wanting his toy back when you're through. Do try not to damage it any further. Otherwise...Shorel'aran." With the rasp in his voice coupled with his human accent, the Thalassian was barely even recognizable, almost blasphemous. "Lovely to see you again as well, Miss Proudmoore...though I had expected much more out of you. I suppose Antonidas wasn't as wise as he claimed."

With that, the Archlich left the heroes to the remnants of his horde, disappearing almost as soon as he had made his presence known. He would need to locate the Lich King soon if they wanted to preserve what they had worked so hard to start.

Damn them. Damn Kel'thuzad and the Lich King to the darkest pits of Hell. For everything they had done. For everything they had made them do in Azeroth, for what they had made Koltira do in this world.

With a snarl, he let loose his fury upon the undead. The power of frost coming to his hands, unleashing a Howling Blast upon a group before resuming cutting down every zombie he could with his runeblades. Revenge would have to go unsated once again, the Lich King and Kel'thuzad out of sword's reach, but his anger could at least be used.

Aw, damnit. If she'd been closer to the retreating lich, she could've stopped him from going anywhere. It'd still almost be possible to catch him, but that would mean leaving Lyra and Ken and everyone, which was unacceptable. She had faith in her teammates, but knew that she was probably way better equipped to deal with this kind of thing.

Growling, the tiny blind girl doubled her efforts, smashing the zombies left and right and generally unleashing mayhem on then.
