SUMMARY: BRING OUT YOUR DEAD
FORMAT: Whatever.

It was a wide clearing of dead grass and dead trees. It was warm if a bit windy, but the greenery wasn't springing to life just yet. Just as well. Cable had a shovel and a pile of bodies telekinetically lifted from around the MAC. There were about a hundred at best and he had a lot of work to do. He dug his shovel into the earth and moved dirt aside, ready to dig up a massive pit. There were too many bodies for individual ceremonies. They were nearly unidentifiable. He left the ones sort of recognizable behind for family ones, but these...these weren't meant to be seen.

He had a cooler too with a sandwich and beer and lighter fluid and matches. Whoever showed up, showed up. He just had a job to do.

Jack Bauer drove up in a pickup truck he'd taken off the street. The truck's owner wasn't in a condition to complain about it, since he was among the bodies piled in the back. His face was grim behind his sunglasses and beard, and he said nothing to Cable, just gave a nod before grabbing a shovel and starting to dig.

Jack paused to put on a surgical mask scavenged from a drugstore to go with his gloves, then resumed digging. He wasn't going to vomit, even though the events of the past few days had been among the worst things he'd ever seen. The real danger was keeping his rage under control, his rage at those responsible for the loss of innocent life, and for himself for being retired while it was happening. His hands gripped the shovel tightly as he dug.
