Where The Institute
When Friday March, 19th- early afternoon
Warning Confusion? Tension? idek
Summary Rogue finds Remy
Format Whatever works~
Rogue found that once she was in the air... the lay out of the place made a lot more sense. Green eyes scanning around, she found her route and started making way to the "Institute". This was so surreal. What was this place, and why were so many of the X-Men ported here... and from different times no less?
Everyone spoke to her so casually... as if they had already made this place their new home. She wasn't sure if it was all an illusion or mind trick... but what she figured was it was best to roll with it with cautious optimism. Hope for the best, accept what has happened, and if something goes wrong: a couple of good sturdy punches would give her a jumping start of fighting her way out. But it all seemed so real. It had to be real.
She found the Institute in no time, and landed to the ground. Brushing her hair off her shoulder, she looked around. Remy. Where was he...? Was he really here too?
Rogue let out a breath. It would be just her luck to have him here. She wanted to have a less than positive reaction to that... but even with everyone else that had contacted her since her arrival, she was glad that out of all those voices that Cajun was one of them. Whatever that meant.

nice.
It was a good thing she hadn't been facing him when he spoke, because, oh lord was the look on his face lecherous. In an effort to not give her enough time to recuperate, he started his tour off rather suddenly, hastily stepping up to her side, his jacketed arm threading around hers at the elbow.
"Dis is de new an improved copy'a Xavier's Institute f'Higher Learning. Scott's de headmaster wit' Emma Frost -- don't know if ya remember her, but she's an X-man too, an datin' Scott t'boot -- and dere's somet'ing like twenty of de X-men lvin' here at any given moment."

Rogue listened in, absorbing the information. Lordy, she really was stepping into another dimension wasn't she? "Well, twenty ain't bad." She looked down the hallways, then back to him. "Emma an' Scott?... Ah s'pose stranger things have happened." She shrugged her shoulders.

As soon as the words left his mouth, he felt a slight sliver of unease run up his spine. Was he really going to explain everything that had happened? The Decimation, the Civil War, the Skrull Invasion -- all of the events that had made mutantkind even more feared and reviled by the rest of the world? Was he going to explain how Jean had died, again?
A change of topic was definitely in order.
"Alright, where we gonna go first?" he quickly blurted, covering the change of topic with a hip bump. "We don't have a Danger Room, so I can't take ya on a round de world tour jus' yet."
no subject
He jumped ahead, trying to change topic again... but Rogue wasn't going to let this slide. She was rolling with this enough. She stopped, sliding her arm away from his. "...Remy." Rogue turned towards him. It was clear he wasn't the one from her time... and maybe something had happened. She didn't care, but she wasn't going to pretend she didn't hear him. "...Ah'm... gonna be honest with yah, an' Ah hope you'll do the same f' me." She looked at him intently. "... Ah ain't expectin' to hear everythin' from you... Ah'm not even gonna ask." She folded her arms across her chest. "Ah'll let well alone... If y' think yah need to tell me somethin', do it... but..." Her eyes drifted away. "Don't pretend, even for a second, that Ah'd prefer to be lied to..."

"--It ain't dat I'm lyin', chere. Ya know I wouldn't do dat to ya." He scratched the back of his neck, licking his lips. "S'just dat a lot'a t'ings have changed between...whenever you comin' from and whenever I'm comin' from. I wanna try an ease ya int'a all'a it without scarin' ya t'pieces."
work post XD woot
She laughed lightly, in slight sarcasm. "As if things weren't complicated enough." She pushed her bangs back, leaning her temple against the palm of her hand. "...Ah'm sorry... it... really came out of nowhere. And there yah were, bein' cute doing your tour."
i can finally tag today aaaaaah
"Nah, don't worry," he replied, waving her off dismissively. "When we do get de time, I'll fill ya in on all'a de little details." he laugh "-- Can't be much, yeah?"
On the inside, he knew it was more than he was letting on, that anything he told her after his kangaroo trial at the hands of Magnus would blow her mind. After all, the Ana he knew didn't touch, even when under duress. "Sides, I can be cute any day of de week."
yaaay
Rogue laughed a little, letting the tension out. "You kiddin' me? Now don't you go lettin' that get to your head, Cajun." She couldn't help but smile. He was going to milk it, as always, but maybe it was the distraction she wanted.
She walked up beside him. "So... no Danger Room. Where do y'all train then?" Rogue decided to carry on.

The kitchen was, by and large, a near-replica of the kitchen they had all shared at Xavier's, right down to the wide counter located not a foot from the refrigerator. Warren and Scott had always been sentimentalists.
"Ya want something t'drink? Eat? Dis tour won't be nearly as entertainin' if ya focused on an empty stomach, rather den..." he trailed on purpose, trying to catch Ana's gaze with his, glancing at her out of the corner of her eye. "Well, rather den." He chuckled.

When he trailed, he did catch her eyes a good moment before she looked back away; shaking her head silently. "A drink sounds good. Guess the porter killed mah appetite.." She looked back at him with a slight smile. "Give this Southern gal a bit, and Ah'm sure Ah can work one up again." She needed something to give her some energy... she just got here and she had a feeling things were going to be tough for her for a while. She turned, leaning against the counter.

He snickered and went to open the refrigerator, thinking back on how good everything had been, about how he missed how close the X-men were back in the day. Everything seemed so simple, so easy to understand; before the Decimation and the war and...Everything had gone out of whack and no one knew why. It just seemed so unfair.
"Always nice t'hear dere still ain't nothin' dat can get ya down f'too long, chère," he quipped back at her, turning back to face he with a bottle of water in each hand. "You want somet'ing stronger, o dis gonne ba enough f'now?"
no subject
"Somethin' stronger? Shoot, Ah ain't that down." Rogue let out a soft laugh and reached for one of the bottles of water. "Ah got tougher skin than that."

"Where to next -- de gymnasium o' de garden?"
no subject
She pushed off the counter. "Oh, we even have a garden now~"

"You got a mind t'stay at de Institute, o...?"
no subject
"..You're stayin' here, right?" She didn't know why she asked that... it wasn't like the thought of him in the Institute would dictate if she was going to stay or go. She had to get used to the idea that this wasn't the same Remy she knew back home -- well, it was and it wasn't-- in any case it wasn't really fair for her to stay sore at him, though it left all these feelings she didn't know what to do with.

His next bit of news wouldn't be any easier to break, either. "Actually, I'm stayin' wit' Lorna in de first Institute dey built."
And there it went. Fire in the hole.

She had to remind herself she didn't have a place to pry into his business. She wanted to, but she wasn't even sure if the Rogue from his time would be in any place to pry either. Outwardly she was clearly bothered, but true to her fashion she pushed it aside.
no subject
"Ana, wait! Wait!" he blurted, trying to grab her by the arm. "It ain't like dat, alright? It's just dat --" Remy closed his mouth, teeth making a clicking noise. He couldn't tell her...He couldn't tell her so much, not just yet. "--It's complicated, alright? We need t'be away from de team right now for different reasons. Dat's it."
no subject
She turned towards him. "Its fine. As much as Ah hate being left in the dark.. Ah don't think Ah could handle any more light today." Especially since she had the distinct feeling it wasn't good.
She tilted her head, narrowing her eyebrows. "Just don't make me worry about you. That's all Ah need." Rogue pushed a hand against his chest.
no subject
"Chere, dat's one t'ing you know I can't promise," he admitted, looking down at her with a somber look. "But ya know I'll try t'de last t'keep it off your mind. Ain't no force in heaven o'hell dat gonna take me away from ya."
no subject
"A blessing and a curse." Rogue smiled at him, pulling away.
After all this, a part of her did feel that it was necessary to find Scott and talk to him.... hopefully he'd fill her in a couple things himself so she didn't feel so out of the loop. She looked down the hall. "Funny how this place is so familiar... 'cept Ah'm more lost than I think Ah've ever been." She would need some time to adjust, that was for sure.
