Duel Monsters Tournament ♦ Round 2

WHO: ANYONE AND EVERYONE
WHERE: Central Park and Harbor
WHEN: Monday, March 22
WARNING: Card Games are a warning in and of themselves.
SUMMARY: Round 2 of the duel monster's tournament. If your character has already been knocked out of the tournament, or if you didn't sign up, but want to duel you are welcome to do so! Instead of making a separate non-tournament dueling log we can just keep it all in here. So make a thread for your matches and have fun! I need the winners for the Novice by Tuesday 23rd 9pm cst
FORMAT: Whatever you want!

The second round of the tournament began with far less dramatics than the opening round. There was a more serious air to the event as the field was whittled down to the top duelists. There had been surprises in the first round. With top duelist eliminated so quickly it was impossible to know who would advance to the semi-finals.

This uncertainty was affecting Seto Kaiba more than he wanted to admit as he looked for his next opponent. He had made peace with Yuugi defeating him (to a point), but that only lasted so long as he remained on top. Being defeated by the best was a lot better than being defeated by someone who lost in the first round.

None of this was showing in his expression after his initial outburst the night before. However he was on a mission to find the person who had defeated his rival and see for himself what kind of duelist he was.

"That's me," Juudai agreed amiably, and then tilted his head to look at Alastair blankly. "Uhhh... you sound kinda familiar, come to think of it. Have we talked before?"

Alastair nodded. "Yeah, on the comm. I'm Alastair." He lifted his hand in a lazy wave.

"Hey, Alastair. Guess there's no point in re-introducing myself, then, since you already know me." Juudai shrugged. "Hehe, so since you're in the tournament... wanna duel?" He held up his Academia-issue duel disk to emphasize the question.
hackeralastair: (it's time to duel)

"Yeah. Yeah, I do," Alastair replied, raising his bootleg disk as well. He was feeling very confident after taking down Kiryu, and felt himself just one small step away from getting to challenge Kaiba. "You're on! I want to see what you've got, kid."

"Hah, no problem! You're going down!" he retorted playfully, though he was about as equally sure of himself as Alastair was -- which was to say he was feeling pretty good about this one. He took a defensive stance and activated his disk.

"Duel!!"
hackeralastair: (I will end you)

Winner: Juudai

Likewise, Alastair brandished his duel disk and let the scythe-arm clack out into position. This was going to be good.

He played hard and fast, but in the end it wasn't enough. He struggled to hold his own, and did well for a while, but he couldn't keep his Gorlag on the field long enough to do serious damage. Juudai had the upper hand through most of the duel and clinched the win.

The holograms vanished with a soft whirring as Solid Vision deactivated at the end of the duel. Juudai assumed his customary victory pose so quickly it was almost like second nature.

"Gotcha! That was a fun duel!" Grinning sincerely, he trotted over to Alastair. "That was awesome, Alastair! Man, there's so many good duelists here...! This tournament's really turning out to be awesome so far!"

Obviously, Alastair was disappointed by his loss. How could someone have such ridiculous good luck drawing the right cards? It was almost like Yuugi. But he lifted his chin and faced it as bravely as he could for now, in front of his opponent. "Yeah. You're pretty damn good yourself. It's...uh. Refreshing, to face strong duelists instead of pathetic newbies."
