And I can end the planet in a holocaust

WHO: Rot Team and those who will try to stop them.
WHERE: Washington D.C.
WHEN: Shortly after this post
WARNINGS: Violence and desecration
SUMMARY: The Major was counting on the heroes of the City to not act in force to stop the nuke. He was wrong. Time for a monumental battle.
FORMAT: Whatever works.
NOTES: Don't forget to add your character's tags as they join in!

Welcome to Washington D.C., heroes and villains. Since it’s so late at night, there aren’t many bystanders as Chronos teleports Rot Team into position on the National Mall. The security personnel who are present stand no chance against the supervillains the Major has assembled to ensure his plan’s success. There are screams and sirens as the chaos begins, the air full of panic and frantic phone calls. Beneath the Atlantic Arch of America’s World War Two memorial, the nuclear bomb continues its deadly countdown. If it goes off, the world will be forever changed, and not for the better. Whatever defence plans the Capital has, they don’t include a way to stop nuclear-armed supervillains, at least, not within less than an hour.

It’s all up to the heroes. They have to get to that bomb in time, and they’ll have to fight their way past every bad guy the Major has been able to recruit. No pressure, heroes. Time to save the world.

let me know if I should correct this @_@

[ It was always more difficult when his opponent had seen his techniques before, but it only made it more of a challenge. And if anything Saitou liked a challenge every now and then. Fighting those who were weak did nothing for him; nothing to satiate his bloodlust. Slade, however, was anything but.

And that shows immediately when his ears pick up the shing of a blade being drawn, and Saitou can't help another grin. No staff this time, hm?

Though his Mind's Eye ability isn't there for nothing. With a quick twist of his torso his sword clashes to meet Slade's weapon, shifting the rest of his body to face Slade. Up-close battles were fine, as well. He was certain Slade hadn't forgotten his point-blank attack from before. He was perfectly fine with using that again.

You brought a sword.

it is marvelous :3

[ These fast reflexes of his are particularly noticeable, and troublesome. But what was a challenge without some obstacles. It doesn't go unnoticed, though, that Slade hasn't called forth his flames from before. In a way, Saitou is both relieved and pleasantly surprised by that fact. So he could finally have a proper death-match once more. It had been a long time coming.

Saitou blocks Slade's attack again and brings one of his legs up for a high kick to his mask. Perhaps the armor he wore would make damage minimal, but it would at least throw him back a few steps to give Saitou more leverage and distance. And enough room to attempt another Gatotsu aimed for his chest.

[ There was a familiar squelching sound as Saitou's blade connects. An effective stab, at least at his side. Though Hijikata's Hirazuki is just as simple to use to make a sideswipe on the wound to inflict more damage. However after doing so Saitou jumps away, putting enough distance between them again and idly flicking the blood off his katana. His eyes are completely focused, however. There was absolutely no way any distractions would cause him to falter. This was a personal matter, as well. And he was going to make sure Slade paid his debt. ]

[ Saitou narrows his eyes just slightly as Slade patches up his wound. In the future he'd have to make sure he didn't get Slade enough time to do so, otherwise this battle would be fruitless.

And he realizes he's waiting again for Saitou's attack. Whatever Slade's expecting, he's uncertain, but the element of surprise worked best in larger areas of battle. The closed-off room their first encounter had taken place made it difficult for anything not point-blank and up-front. But now there was much more space, and space was something Saitou preferred.

A moment later he decides the right second to strike, seeming to disappear completely and reappearing at Slade's back, making a strong downwards slash toward his spine.

[ Saitou immediately twists his body around, his Mind's Eye recording Slade's motions and where his muscles and bones would be shifting next. The clanging of their two blades rings in his sensitive ears, but that's easily ignored being that there were more important matters at hand. Such as Slade making contact to his ribcage.

Slade may have had a goal to break a few ribs, but again Saitou shifts his body position to where Slade mostly hits his side. He knows at least one's going to crack, but one he can spare. It wasn't anything he hadn't experienced before. He again attempts a downwards slash toward his chest, ducking down to dodge wherever Slade would strike next.

[ Balance is definitely key to a battle, no matter the type. And for Slade to go after his is expected. He manages to get out of the way in time, but loses his footing for a second. It would be all Slade needs, though, to try and get another swing in. Best for him to hit faster before Slade can take that advantage. He makes a number of maneuvers to aim for pressure points on Slade's limbs to either slow him down or get his balance off. If anyone was going to go down, first, Saitou was adamant for that not to be himself. ]

/latches onto forever. also I think Saitou can get in his finishing move in the next 2 tags, maybe?

[ Son of a bitch. Saitou swears under his breath at the hard blow to his back. That was the last place anyone wanted to get hit by an opponent, though he recovers fast. Slade certainly wasn't the first to make such an attempt and Saitou plans on making him regret ever coming that close. He twists his body at blinding speed, making a hard slash across Slade's chest that was certain to get some blood spraying. He's in the process of doing so again, as his body twists back around, either to make that first wound deeper or another one right next to it. ]

It does! Feel free to take him down in your next tag! c:

[ Fuck, that burn on his face was going to sting in the morning. It almost throws Saitou a few feet back, but now, oh now, Saitou has Slade right where he wants him. Perfect distance. Perfect amount of space, distraction, and flurry of activity. He'd been avoiding Saitou's blows with some ease, for now, but that was about to change.

Especially when Saitou thrusts his sword forward in a near-perfect Zeroshiki stance, right where that blood had spurted out of Slade's chest. Make that wound even worse. Tear that hole in his side that Slade had avoided their last encounter, rip enough skin and muscle apart right by his ribcage. Render him immobile. I have you. He couldn't dodge something this point-blank twice. This was the end and both of them knew it.

[ And just like with Usui, Saitou only lets a small smile grace his face. Otherwise, still as calm and expressionless as ever. The burn where Slade had punched him still stung horribly, but it wasn't fatal and that was all that mattered. For a few seconds he simply looks down at Slade in his weakened state, slowly shifting out of his stance to examine the damage. Had Saitou hit Slade's torso any higher, it's likely he would have taken out a lung and some other organs. From the looks of things, though, most of what was ripped to shreds was just muscle. Normally this would irk someone like the former Shinsengumi, but considering how the City was with death, this was more than ideal.

He remains silent in the meantime, still looking Slade over, before turning his head just the slightest to take out his phone and make an anonymous 911 call. It wasn't something he did for his opponents. It was more something Battousai would do. But this was the City and not Kyoto, and there was nothing Saitou could do about that. Better a criminal be apprehended than free. Better to have his deathmatch settled to his satisfaction, as well.

It's interesting what he appears like without his mask, Saitou quirking one eyebrow just slightly. There was no mocking in his body language, or tone. That had been a worthy fight and one he wondered at times he would lose.

[ Saitou gives him the smallest of grins at that. It had been exactly that, really. He was definitely going to have to collapse when teleported back to New York, but this was worth it. His unsettled match was complete. At least one of those was complete... (Thinking on the Battousai now just irritated, him, though. That chance was over.) ]

The same.

[ It's odd. Normally right now he would have sent a killing blow. He would have given another warrior an honorable death in battle. However even his Zeroshiki hadn't meant to be immediately fatal. Slade's wounds would kill him, yes, if not tended to soon, but in Saitou's world? In any world where death reigned? That Zeroshiki would have ripped off his torso instead of just ripping a hole in his side. And that would have been the end of it.

Maybe living in the City for over a year was getting to him.

That was a thought for another day, though. This was his part in keeping the City safe. The Shinsengumi would be proud.

... Maybe she would be, too.

[ ... Well whatever smile Slade has caught disappears at his question. And it won't show again for the remainder of their time together. He would ask that, the bastard. Does he even care what he stole from him? What he helped steal from him? Something Saitou will never get back?

Saitou's gaze is hard, tone steely and obvious undertones of fury directed at more than just him.

[ His silence is thick and heavy enough for Saitou to understand. Of course he could understand. But there were some things Saitou could never forgive. The Battousai making an oath never to kill being one of those. Every corrupt politician of the Meiji just proving his point more that the new government was a sham and didn't deserve to exist. Every time someone slandered the Shinsengumi name and called them nothing but dogs.

A heavy sigh leaves him before he realizes it, turning away and saying nothing as well. There was nothing to say. The only thing that he could cling to, now, from home, was the fact that he still remembered his wife. Although his behavior here had him acting more like she was dead. Technically, yes she was. He was a widower in this era but at least he knew he was one.

Just as silently he pulls out a cigarette from his pocket, lighting it without a word and simply waiting for the medics to arrive. When they showed he'd slip back into the shadows, see if his aid was needed elsewhere. His work was done, here.
