WHO: Sally Blevins and Amara Aquilla
WHERE: Shops in the City
WHEN: Thursday, 5/13, early afternoon
WARNINGS: nope!
SUMMARY: The girls go shopping for prom!
FORMAT: parashoppers
Sally had no clue about what she was supposed to get for prom. All she knew about the event came from multiple viewings of Pretty in Pink and she had a feeling that was very dated. Which meant that most of the dress options in her closet wouldn't work for the dance, though she had little to go on for what exactly a prom dress should look like.
Thankfully Amara was accompanying her on this shopping trip. Surely the older girl knew a thing or two about prom dresses.
"So...does the length of the dress matter?"

It happened a lot-- something looked good on the hanger but looked not that great on the body. And... really. Did Sally really wear that boring underwear? It seemed so... sad.

"So, weird question probably, but where do you get your...uh, bras and stuff? Because like I figure now that I'm dating again and everything I'm thinking I should wear some...fun things."
She was turning brighter shades of red the more she spoke.
"I did have on these ones with little cacti yesterday that seemed to be a big hit."

"We can go to store afterward. It's close by."
Of course, Amara spent a ridiculous amount of money on her underthings-- what, she liked to be fancy-- but she was sure Sally could find something for herself... and Sam.
Oh God that was so weird.

It didn't look like Amara had injured herself so Sally zipped up the next dress and checked herself out in the mirror. It was a little too short.
"I don't think this one works either. But, okay, that sounds doable to go to the other store too."
no subject
"What kind of dress are you looking for, exactly? Color, style... Maybe that will help us find something for you."
Amara had on a red gown that was way too expensive but it fit her nicely. It would go in the "maybe" pile.

Except she had no idea what his favorite color even was, so she scrambled for her purse and pulled out her phone to text him that question. It was okay that she didn't know things like that yet, right? She was not going to be asking Bobby for any advice on this. Not with him and his ridiculous 'you have a Southern fetish'.
"I don't know is leather okay for a prom? Sam likes leather."
no subject
"... does he," she said lightly, clearing her throat, ever the picture of serenity. "Leather is hardly appropriate for prom so I suppose we'll just have to go with plan B. Why don't you pick out some dresses that catch your eye?"
Make that a week she would have to go without looking Sam in the eye.

Though apparently there was a phase where everyone had leather uniforms in the future so what did she know. Sally was certain that the random team of Roberto's she was on in the future would have them all be decked out in leather. It seemed like something he'd get people to do.
She returned to the dressing room a few minutes later with a variety of dresses. Every single one of them looked like it had been taken out of a Madonna video from the 80s. Seriously, the girl needed help.
"Maybe I should just wear a simple black dress and cowboy boots and call it a day."

All of the ruffle and lace made her a little sick.
"One moment," Amara got redressed and went back outside for more dresses. Sally liked red. She wanted short. She apparently really, really liked Madonna. A few moments later, Amara came back with a red dress (http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/edressme_2106_426403778) that combined all of those things. "Try this on."
And it didn't make her want to throw up. So far, so good.

Or at least it would go into the pile of maybes. Now all she needed to do was find the perfect shoes and underwear to go with it!
"What about you?"
no subject
"I am currently deciding between these three," she pointed to a red and two blue gowns she had hung up neatly.

She tried on the sparkly dress before turning to look at Amara. "Which do you think is more prom-y?"
no subject
Thank God.
"Do you feel good wearing it, is the question."
no subject
She nodded towards the other dresses. "Now, what are you going to end up wearing?"
no subject
"What do you think?"
no subject
She changed back into her clothes and hung up the dress. "Do you know if there's a theme for the prom or not?"
