(no subject)

WHO: Sally Blevins and Amara Aquilla
WHERE: Shops in the City
WHEN: Thursday, 5/13, early afternoon
WARNINGS: nope!
SUMMARY: The girls go shopping for prom!
FORMAT: parashoppers

Sally had no clue about what she was supposed to get for prom. All she knew about the event came from multiple viewings of Pretty in Pink and she had a feeling that was very dated. Which meant that most of the dress options in her closet wouldn't work for the dance, though she had little to go on for what exactly a prom dress should look like.

Thankfully Amara was accompanying her on this shopping trip. Surely the older girl knew a thing or two about prom dresses.

"So...does the length of the dress matter?"

"No. Take it off. Try the next one."

It happened a lot-- something looked good on the hanger but looked not that great on the body. And... really. Did Sally really wear that boring underwear? It seemed so... sad.

As Amara stepped out of the dress she had tried on, at the cacti bra comment, she tripped in the dress and hit her head right on the mirror with a loud thunk. It wasn't that she didn't like Sally. But thinking about who she was wearing the underwear for was just... a little weird.

"We can go to store afterward. It's close by."

Of course, Amara spent a ridiculous amount of money on her underthings-- what, she liked to be fancy-- but she was sure Sally could find something for herself... and Sam.

Oh God that was so weird.

Immediately, Amara was regretting offering because now she couldn't stop thinking about the two of them and that deeply, deeply, disturbed her. She wasn't going to be able to look at Sam in the eye for at least 48 hours.

"What kind of dress are you looking for, exactly? Color, style... Maybe that will help us find something for you."

Amara had on a red gown that was way too expensive but it fit her nicely. It would go in the "maybe" pile.

More information Amara really could have gone without knowing. If Sally started talking about how Sam liked leather in bed, she was going to have to draw the line.

"... does he," she said lightly, clearing her throat, ever the picture of serenity. "Leather is hardly appropriate for prom so I suppose we'll just have to go with plan B. Why don't you pick out some dresses that catch your eye?"

Make that a week she would have to go without looking Sam in the eye.

This situation was a lot more dire than she thought.

All of the ruffle and lace made her a little sick.

"One moment," Amara got redressed and went back outside for more dresses. Sally liked red. She wanted short. She apparently really, really liked Madonna. A few moments later, Amara came back with a red dress (http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/edressme_2106_426403778) that combined all of those things. "Try this on."

And it didn't make her want to throw up. So far, so good.

Amara handed Sally another dress to try on. This one silver and just a little sparkly. She liked Dazzler, right? She must like sparkles.

"I am currently deciding between these three," she pointed to a red and two blue gowns she had hung up neatly.

"I think the one you're wearing is the most flattering." She was sure Sam would like it. And on the plus side, no leather in sight.

Thank God.

"Do you feel good wearing it, is the question."

Amara studied the dresses. They were all beautiful but she wore a lot of red so that left the two blue dresses. "Maybe the lighter blue one since it's summer." It had some gold in it, which was also pretty. She could wear pretty gold shoes with it that hopefully wouldn't get ruined.

"What do you think?"
