He took a liking to that park. Small, genearlly quiet as far as population went, and the atmosphere was almost always pleasant. Children had that effect. Their personalities were brighter, louder than the anxiety-ridden passers-by on the sidewalk yards away from the green. It gave Blue a sense of peace that he had a hard time keeping hold of. He would have to bring Jomy here to experience it. It was...almost healing. Comforting. If he closed his eyes, Blue could imagine those children running around the Shangri-La. Safe. Content. He imagined what it would be like if those Mu children were here...
And that anchored him back to dread. As free and wonderful as it all was...there was so much, too much threatening it. Soldier Blue was more inclined to a positive hope than most of his comrades, but all the same...So much danger. So many volatile variables in these many powers. A quiet, bubbling chaos. No wonder there was so much underlying fear in the humans. It colored the city--the living community seemed like one that was holding its breath, allowing a smile but at the same time bracing one's self for something dreadful. A lot had happened in such a short time.
He was there to clear his mind and try to find the right questions to the right answers with the right words. Trapped or not, he was uncertain of his status in this world. Knowing such a thing would be of benefit, but...
A yelp from one of the younger children drew his attention outward, watching the small game of tag. He himself was of hardly any notice; he allowed the minds of the people around him to shroud his appearance to something uninteresting, masking his vibrant eyes and hair for something more sudued. It made people watching easy and without fear. A part of him sat with an anticipation, waiting for another familiar notion to come his way. It was the same bench he'd come across Claude, after all. His...friends brought him solace. It would be nice.

He stretched his arms out while he walked and, having gotten some distance into the park, sat heavily on a park bench. As he was situating his school bag, he realized that he'd sat down beside somebody. He might have flinched in surprise, because he'd... Somehow failed to notice, which was weird, considering that he was a pretty unique-looking guy. After a pause, he held up a hand in an awkward, little wave. "Hey."

And suddenly Blue noticed was not indistinguishable as he was to others. He straightened up, turning his head fully to regard him, frowning as he looked.
"...Do I...know you?"

Red eyes, though... That was definitely something foreign, beyond even the degree that he, himself, was from another country. Yukina had red eyes. Hiei did, too, now that he thought about it, and he was sure that he'd seen them here and there among the populous of the Makai. "You were brought here, huh? I was, too."
He had this English thing on lock.

Hiei?
Ah. Blue blinked, eyebrows raised again. It looked as if the stranger's question was what confused him with the timing. "You're an acquaintence of Hiei," he said point blank, as if it were already established. Only then did he shift, backtracking. "Ah...I'm sorry. Yes. I was, as you were. I'm called Soldier Blue." He faintly bowed his head in greeting.

Maybe that was just the way this guy functioned, though. Maybe he couldn't help it. And even if Hiei was the acquaintance that they had in common, of all people, he couldn't very well hold it against the fella. He didn't seem bad, after all, and Kuwabara had a good intuition.
Finally, he settled on merely correcting Soldier Blue on a trivial matter. "You don't have the say the whole thing. You can just call me Kuwabara."

He paused, a silence that quickly began to feel awkward before he was compelled to speak up to stop it. "And...You may call me Blue. As the others do."

A small, pursed-lipped smile tugged across his face at the sound of laughter and the remark itself raised his eyebrows just slightly. This one suffered the scrutiny of the demon, too, then...a common link. "I have managed," he said. "And I believe my presence doesn't make him suffer annoyance as strongly as it had before."
no subject
Which was the general truth of it, in Kuwabara's opinion. True, the guy had moments in which he was vaguely redeemable, but exaggerated dislike was the most he had to offer where Hiei was concerned.

"I only speak as one who has never interacted with demons before now," he said. "It is hard to know what one is to do without precedent."
no subject
"So." He smiled. There really wasn't much he could enjoy less than assuring somebody that Hiei was just, for the most part, a nasty fellow. "It's just that Hiei spends too much time being angry and unreasonable."
no subject
"You're a great deal more knowledgeable about such things. I'll accept that reason."
