WHO: Obi-Wan Kenobi (
taughttolisten) and Friends!
WHERE: A TOP-SECRET LOCATIO--no, no, Ben finally got an apartment. With actual bedrooms so no one's sleeping on a futon on the floor anymore!
WHEN: Evening, May 14th, 2010.
WARNINGS: It's a family dinner. Considering this guy's CR, somebody's gonna feel awkward about something.
SUMMARY: Obi-Wan got an apartment! And also it's his birthday, though he hasn't told anyone that because his personal life is full of hilarious fail. And also also he wants to have one really nice night with the people he loves in case he has to go to war tomorrow.
FORMAT: Paragraphonomy
He wouldn't necessarily have called the new apartment a mess, but it was proving somewhat harder than he'd anticipated to rearrange the detritus of moving into something that looked like it could be lived in comfortably. Still, he had a dinner table, and he had chairs and the proper utensils for serving a large group; the cats were settling in nicely, and best of all, there was a small bedroom for Fakir and Mytho, with twin beds and a spacious bookshelf and plenty of sunlight.
For one evening, at least, Obi-Wan was resolved to set aside the all-too-familiar thoughts of war. Tomorrow he could be the General. Tonight he wanted to be a man surrounded by family.

Despite keeping an eye on her and the door in anticipation of guests, he was managing the kitchen rather well, having shooed Ben out so he could properly greet everyone.

BUSTIN INTO UR THREDZ
Yes, he'd taken up that challenge. Even with things as they were in the city, Luke hadn't been able to resist. And at the least, it'd be humorous.
"Ben?" he called, turning his head toward where he could feel the Jedi Master's presence, a fountain of the Light side. "It's Luke."
OH NOES :)
oh mah gaw XD
It was rare that any memory of Anakin didn't bring pain with it, but this was one of those moments. He found himself recalling Luke's father with perfect clarity, completely free of any darkness: a young man who liked nothing better than getting one over on his former Master, flying circles around him and delivering a prissy imitation of an old lecture.
"All right, all right," he managed, wheezing a little. "Double helpings."
don't doubt the power of the Skywalker derp
"Maybe next time we can time it, even."

But she'd arrived, and knocked on the door as well a soft little rap before leaning against the door frame.

It took only a moment to excuse himself. When he opened the door, his smile was deeper and warmer, genuine, without any expectation.
"Mara. Thank you so much for coming to my housewarming."
no subject
"Yeah, it's no problem," she mentioned. "Looks like you have a nice place."

An enthusiastic mewing from somewhere near Mara's ankles cut him off: apparently Gon had decided to pester the newcomer for attention.

"Cats?" she asked. "No wonder your furniture is in controlled chaos."

This hadn't really changed when people had started arriving.
More arrivals! Some time after Luke staggers in
They'd met up at the Sunshine Bakery to pick up the cake he and Bakura had made earlier that day. He'd figured Bakura needed to make himself useful somehow if he was going to mope around their home all day. Of course, thanks to Bakura's involvement, all Fakir's whining to Sanji about not wanting a girly cake had been rendered pointless. He'd never seen such a fruity cake in all his life.
Now, as he walked (very carefully) on the way to Ben's new apartment, Carley nattering away beside him, he just had to hope that nobody at the party would poke too much fun at it.
o hai
"And when we got there, the conveyor belt had started, and the thief was rolling into the garbage compactor below. But Jack," she paused, sighing happily at the thought of Jack, "He saved the guy from being crushed to death! And then he punched the guy into the crowd just like someone as awesome as Jack would do."
She sighed, dreamily, "He's so cool."
Of course, that wasn't why she was here. Sure, talking about the past sounded like a good idea, but she wasn't in the past anymore. Actually, no. She wasn't in the future anymore. Now she's in the in the past-Oh this was too confusing. She just wanted to see her friends.
HELLO
"Is he all you talk about?" he asked as he started up the stairs, feeling as though he already knew the answer.
SUP?!
She sighed, "What's been happening with you, anyway?
NOT MUCH U?
No, no, and definitely not.
"I'll be changing schools soon, but that's about it," he finally said.
NOT MUCH AT ALL
Dying was a touchy subject. As someone who'd died and then come back, she knew it must be hard. So she decided not to touch upon it, "...Duck?"
oh that is cruel ))):

It would never not feel weird to say that.

"Right as I was ported back home, I died."
no subject
"And you're fine now," he said. "Like me."

She decided not to mention the series of events between her dying and being "fine". Considering she couldn't remember. Of course, she'd been told some of the terrible things she'd done, but she didn't want to think about it.
