WHO: Bakura & Edna
WHERE: Edna'sfortress of fabulous solitude compound
WHEN: Let's say early Saturday
SUMMARY: Lyra has sent Bakura on an errand to Edna's. Edna spots Bakura's horrible taste in clothing.
FORMAT: Para
Bakura frowned with puzzlement, looking back at the directions Lyra had given him.
He was pretty sure this was where he was supposed to be...
Only the place looked almost like some sort of fortress and he couldn't figure out how on Earth he was supposed to get in. Maybe there was a doorbell...?

She was in the middle welding a buckle shut when her proximity alarms started going off. The red sirens made it hard to keep working, so she flipped up the protective mask and hopped off her stool. "Oh, I need a security team again." She muttered to herself as she made her way to the screen displaying the outside of her gate. It didn't go off for anyone walking by, but if they stayed there long enough and didn't ring the bell it looked like vegas in the basement with all of the lights.
She pressed a button to turn them off and turned on a microphone and camera. "Hello," She said into the microphone, taking a look at the very puzzled boy. "Who is it? Are you lost?"

"Aaaa- I'm Bakura Ryou, Lyra sent me... She said she called ahead..."

Edna pushed another button and with a buzz the gates opened that would take him to the building itself. She pressed another door to unlock that one for him. She started on her way upstairs assuming she would be there by the time he made it to the door.

He gave a small polite bow, presenting what Lyra had given him. "This is for you, from Lyra."

plotdeviceitem out of his hands. She was wandering off to put it away in one fluid motion. "Don't just stand there, dahling," She said over her should. "Come in."

She walked past him and towards two couches facing each other on either side of a glass coffee table. On the table was a pot of tea and several mugs. Edna knew she would be entertaining and had prepared. It was clear she was waiting for Bakura to sit down.

If he would have known he was going to be invited in, he would have brought a gift-- though, really, Lyra's errand was like one...

It was like...a polyester monkey suit. "You didn't get pulled away from laundry day, did you?"
no subject
It was an odd question, to say the least!
And made him a little paranoid that he had somehow already gotten something on his jacket this early in the day.

"Is this some part of a fashion statement, part of a secret identity, or do you just not own a mirror, dahling?"

She didn't wait for an answer before she continued, "Why didn't you tell me sooner, dahling? Surely you know I can help anyone look their best in modern fashion."
no subject
"I've... never really much thought too much about clothes or fashion... That's more Anzu-chan's thing."
To be fair, the only part of his appearance he really gave much thought was his hair. And that was out of necessity rather than anything else!"

Edna, hoped off the couch ready to start working on her new project. Sure she had other things to do with an incoming war, but she could take some time out of her day to help a fashion victim.

If he had had any idea on anything involving clothing, that might have been a hint right there.
"Aa-- sorry," he appologized with a small bow of his head. Having offending something with this clothing was definitely a first..!
He blinked as Edna got up, getting up as well on reflex politeness, not quite getting what was going on.

Edna jumped up on a stool next to one of the tables which held a sketch book and a wide array of fabric swatches. "Don't just stand there, dahling. Hurry up now."
no subject
That and he had no idea what was being expected of him. He was starting to wonder if Lyra had set up him for something...
no subject
"So are you looking for something business wear or just something casual to replace the monkey suit?" Edna asked as though Bakura had come there for the purpose of getting her help and it wasn't just being forced on him whether he liked it or not.

"You're not allergic to anything, are you dahling?" She shoved a card with wool fabric swatches at him, partly to test colors and also to see if he broke out in a rash from touching it.

"This should fit you," she said poking at a half-finished suit. "It's not done yet though, you have to wait until you can wear it."
assuming it's a normal plain clothes suit :)
Bakura was pretty sure he wasn't at all being listened to, but still was trying.
Part of him really hoped she wasn't going to expect him to start wearing suits. He didn't want to start looking like a salary man so soon...
If it's something weird I'll tell you
"No you're right!" She exclaimed suddenly. "Completely the wrong color. Don't worry, I'll make it something more suitable."
no subject
He let the protest trail off. Aa~aa, it was worse than when Toph or Lyra decided something!
... he was going to have to talk to them when he got back. This really did smell of a setup...
He gave a small, defeated sigh. At least he didn't have anything planned for that afternoon.
And now replies become delayed as work starts to get going.
"Fine fine, business suit is too much," she conceded. "You want something more casual. Baby-steps."
*gives tea/coffee*
"Aa-- sorry, I wasn't meaning to be insulting or anything!" he said quickly at the look. "This just really... wasn't at all what I expected or anything! Clothes and things like that... it's not something at all that I really pay much attention to." As long as what he was wearing was clean, fit him properly and was free of wrinkles or stains, really, what did it matter?
Ugh
"I thought kids were more interested in clothes," she said flipping through fabric swatches of different weights of cotton (it was almost summer). "All about getting the opposite sex to pay attention and all that."
... lemonaid and cookies instead?
the ugh was directed at work, not you :)
She tossed another swatch card at him, this time with cottons and a few linen thrown in. "Which weight?"
aah, good :D
He caught the card on reflex, blinking at it a moment. "Is there really a difference...?" he asked timidly, looking over the fabrics. He really hadn't ever given any sort of thought to clothing before. A shirt was a shirt. If it was too heavy, wear it in fall or winter...

Edna was quickly loosing faith in this boys ability to dress himself even with the proper assistance. "Okay, I know what I'm going to do. You come back and pick up the clothes in 2 weeks, okay? Okay."
no subject
He blinked a few times. "Eh? Ah-- you-- you really don't have to..." he attempted to protest again.

Really, you'd think he'd be used to being overridden by now.
"There's no rush, please take your time," he said politely.
no subject
Even though she had other things to be doing, some simple sewing work would be a good breather every once in awhile when the fumes from her new fabrics was too much to take. "I'll see you in two weeks! You tell Lyra I said 'hi'!"
no subject
And with that, he took his leave, a little relieved to be out of that situation.
