WHO: Bakura & Edna
WHERE: Edna's fortress of fabulous solitude compound
WHEN: Let's say early Saturday
SUMMARY: Lyra has sent Bakura on an errand to Edna's. Edna spots Bakura's horrible taste in clothing.
FORMAT: Para

Bakura frowned with puzzlement, looking back at the directions Lyra had given him.

He was pretty sure this was where he was supposed to be...

Only the place looked almost like some sort of fortress and he couldn't figure out how on Earth he was supposed to get in. Maybe there was a doorbell...?

Edna was the basement or 'real workroom' of her compound. Since the latest news reports she had been working double time on super suits and contraptions. She didn't know exactly what they would be used for, but she knew supers. She had to be prepared for when they came in at the last second looking for something. Sigh. No planning.

She was in the middle welding a buckle shut when her proximity alarms started going off. The red sirens made it hard to keep working, so she flipped up the protective mask and hopped off her stool. "Oh, I need a security team again." She muttered to herself as she made her way to the screen displaying the outside of her gate. It didn't go off for anyone walking by, but if they stayed there long enough and didn't ring the bell it looked like vegas in the basement with all of the lights.

She pressed a button to turn them off and turned on a microphone and camera. "Hello," She said into the microphone, taking a look at the very puzzled boy. "Who is it? Are you lost?"

"Ah! Lyra's friend!" Edna interrupted over the last part of his sentence. "Ah yes, come in, dahling, come in."

Edna pushed another button and with a buzz the gates opened that would take him to the building itself. She pressed another door to unlock that one for him. She started on her way upstairs assuming she would be there by the time he made it to the door.

Edna had just pulled off the welding mask when she walked up to Bakura. The bow was a bit surprising to her, but she wasn't going to complain. "Wonderful!" Edna said taking the plotdevice item out of his hands.

She was wandering off to put it away in one fluid motion. "Don't just stand there, dahling," She said over her should. "Come in."

"Thank you, dahling," Edna replied setting the gift on a counter and heading back over to Bakura. "It was all I could do in such a short time."

She walked past him and towards two couches facing each other on either side of a glass coffee table. On the table was a pot of tea and several mugs. Edna knew she would be entertaining and had prepared. It was clear she was waiting for Bakura to sit down.

"So," Edna started leaning back on the couch comfortably. "I hope playing errand boy didn't take you out of your way."

[identity profile] daaaaaaahling.livejournal.com 2010-05-16 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
"mmhmm" Edna replied. The boy was very agreeable, definitely wanted to him please. Therefore, his answer couldn't necessarily be taken as truth. Finally done moving, Edna took the time to look at her visitor. He seemed nice enough, and she recalled speaking to him over the communicators. However...What on earth was he wearing?

It was like...a polyester monkey suit. "You didn't get pulled away from laundry day, did you?"

[identity profile] daaaaaaahling.livejournal.com 2010-05-16 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh...so you chose to wear that," Edna said, disbelief evident in her voice.

[identity profile] daaaaaaahling.livejournal.com 2010-05-16 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
"No, no stain..." Edna trailed off, noise starting to curl up with distaste.

"Is this some part of a fashion statement, part of a secret identity, or do you just not own a mirror, dahling?"

[identity profile] daaaaaaahling.livejournal.com 2010-05-16 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
"aaaah," Edna said, understanding the problem. "Each world has it's fashion I suppose. This world isn't too different from mine, but it's more different than yours, yes?"

She didn't wait for an answer before she continued, "Why didn't you tell me sooner, dahling? Surely you know I can help anyone look their best in modern fashion."

[identity profile] daaaaaaahling.livejournal.com 2010-05-17 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ten years is a long time in the fashion world," Edna explained. "No wonder you look like a thrift shop if your clothes are from that long ago. It just won't do, dahling."

Edna, hoped off the couch ready to start working on her new project. Sure she had other things to do with an incoming war, but she could take some time out of her day to help a fashion victim.

[identity profile] daaaaaaahling.livejournal.com 2010-05-17 02:37 pm (UTC)(link)
The main floor of Edna's compound was set up as a work area, with multiple tables of different fabric and 'normal' projects she was working on for the population at large. The sitting area she had just vacated was off to the side but in clear view of the work stations.

Edna jumped up on a stool next to one of the tables which held a sketch book and a wide array of fabric swatches. "Don't just stand there, dahling. Hurry up now."

[identity profile] daaaaaaahling.livejournal.com 2010-05-18 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hi what? you're already here." Edna said, not looking up from her sketchbook. She had traveled to Japan for fashion shows, but hadn't been expected to learn the language.

"So are you looking for something business wear or just something casual to replace the monkey suit?" Edna asked as though Bakura had come there for the purpose of getting her help and it wasn't just being forced on him whether he liked it or not.

[identity profile] daaaaaaahling.livejournal.com 2010-05-25 01:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"Replacing the monkey-suit it is," Edna responded flipping through some of her designs. The boy was a fashion victim but he had a nice build, he could be used to model some of the fashions she had already designed. She would tell him that would be expected later, for now she just had to get him out of that outfit.

"You're not allergic to anything, are you dahling?" She shoved a card with wool fabric swatches at him, partly to test colors and also to see if he broke out in a rash from touching it.

[identity profile] daaaaaaahling.livejournal.com 2010-05-25 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Edna wasn't listening to his protests, as they didn't matter anyway. She was already off of the stool and over by a dress form before Bakura got his half-sentence out anyway.

"This should fit you," she said poking at a half-finished suit. "It's not done yet though, you have to wait until you can wear it."

If it's something weird I'll tell you

[identity profile] daaaaaaahling.livejournal.com 2010-05-25 01:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Bakura wasn't being listened to. Edna gave him and the dress form an appraising look.

"No you're right!" She exclaimed suddenly. "Completely the wrong color. Don't worry, I'll make it something more suitable."

And now replies become delayed as work starts to get going.

[identity profile] daaaaaaahling.livejournal.com 2010-05-25 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Edna did hear the sigh, and gave him a look for it. He didn't want the help of the world's best fashion designer? With what he was wearing he wouldn't know fashion if it came up and bit him in the butt.

"Fine fine, business suit is too much," she conceded. "You want something more casual. Baby-steps."

Ugh

[identity profile] daaaaaaahling.livejournal.com 2010-05-25 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Edna waved him off, but still looked a little put out. "That's very obvious, dahling." She knew he didn't put any thought into it the second he walked in the door.

"I thought kids were more interested in clothes," she said flipping through fabric swatches of different weights of cotton (it was almost summer). "All about getting the opposite sex to pay attention and all that."

the ugh was directed at work, not you :)

[identity profile] daaaaaaahling.livejournal.com 2010-05-25 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're going to get attention either way, " Edna told him. "But there's good attention and bad attention. Your monkey-suit...bad attention."

She tossed another swatch card at him, this time with cottons and a few linen thrown in. "Which weight?"

[identity profile] daaaaaaahling.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"Of course there's a difference," Edna said. "They hang differently. They feel different. I can work with anything but I wanted to know if you had a preference."

Edna was quickly loosing faith in this boys ability to dress himself even with the proper assistance. "Okay, I know what I'm going to do. You come back and pick up the clothes in 2 weeks, okay? Okay."

[identity profile] daaaaaaahling.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
As with the rest of his protests, Edna wasn't listening. "You just leave everything to me, I'll see you in two weeks to pick up your clothes. I could have them done sooner, but I'm a little busy with super suits right now."

[identity profile] daaaaaaahling.livejournal.com 2010-05-26 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're too cute," Edna said face down in her sketchbook. "2 weeks is taking my time."

Even though she had other things to be doing, some simple sewing work would be a good breather every once in awhile when the fumes from her new fabrics was too much to take. "I'll see you in two weeks! You tell Lyra I said 'hi'!"
