SUMMARY: Jade's out enjoying the city after school.

[She drops off her books and stuff at home and spends a little time making a snack and eating. If any of the others are around she's more than happy to sit and chat with them. Or help them with their homework. Otherwise she's off to do her own thing. Like taking care of her garden or her pets. It's a daily thing for her to do both. When she's at home she's often out in her greenhouse.]


[She visits the park quite often. She usually picks a nice quiet place near the lake and just watches people and animals. Occasionally chatting it up with anyone around that wants to talk. Sometimes she can't help herself and ends up chasing after a squirrel. When that happens it's time to move on.]


[There's a local coffee shop she's become fond of. She's not a huge coffee drinker but their tea is really good. So she'll often curl up on one of the couches with a book or magazine and enjoy her tea.]


[Nearby that coffee shop is a little bookstore. It's probably the most amazing place Jade has ever seen. The books are practically piled to the ceiling and she can spend hours just rummaging through the stacks. It's probably where she's spends most of her time when out.]

friday afternoon; bookstore

[ it's the bookstore where kanaya finds her. she and rose are forming a book club, and she was trying to collect titles for their reading list. maybe something the faculty might actually find unobjectionable, rather than their typical reading habits.

when she sees jade, she folds her list and stashes it in one of the books she's picked up, holding it against her chest. ]

Finding anything interesting?

[dogwitch]

[By the time Kanaya finds her Jade already has quite the stack of books developing. The float along behind her as she continues to go through the remaining stacks of books.

She smiles and turns to look down at Kanaya before floating down to the floor.]

A lot of interesting books. I think I've just about found this whole series of books about talking animals that live in an abbey. They look like really good books. [She's clearly excited about this find.]

[glowsferatu]

In an Abby? [ she frowns, looking at her own books and wondering if that's the sort of thing rose would like to read. sounds weird enough. ] That sounds like it would be uncomfortable for her.

[dogwitch]

[Oh you know Jade. She loves her anthropomorphic fauna so these books are right up her alley.]

Uncomfortable for who?

[glowsferatu]

[ kanaya blinks, a little confused. ] The Abby you said they lived in, assuming the relationship therein is parasitic. If a more proper symbiosis, she may not mind as much.

[dogwitch]

[Jade blinks before letting out a laugh.] Oh no! An abbey isn't a person, it's a place. It's like a monastery.

[glowsferatu]

[ kanaya hunches her shoulders, embarrassed. ] Of course. How silly of me.

What is it they do there?

[dogwitch]

It's okay. It's one of those weird words that sounds like something else. Easy mistake. [Smiling.]

Live their lives. Fight off the other animals that want to take their home.

[glowsferatu]

[ fighting, living, animals. it was probably perfectly fine, but it lacked any of the keywords she looks for in literature, unfortunately. ]

Well, it should be enjoyable, then.

They have quite an impressive selection here, I find.

[dogwitch]

[Well, you know Jade and her interests. Of course it was her kind of thing.]

I certainly hope so. I haven't read any of the books before but they look really interesting.

[She glances around with a nod.] They certainly do. If it weren't for the Spacey powers I think I'd get lost in here. [A chuckle.]

Well, I don't suppose I have much need to overwhelm myself with so many facets of this selection!

Though I've also largely limited myself to only one or two departments. [ girl loves her supernatural romance and non-fictional books on human culture. what's she need anything else for? ] It's only recently I've had to put some thought into items with a broader appeal.

[dogwitch]

[Jade is often all over the place in the bookstore. She digs through every section from young adult fantasy to science books and everything in between. Her room at home is likely starting to resemble the book store.]

Oh? Why's that?

[glowsferatu]

Oh, it's just a small project we're undertaking. I'm sure we'll have more details to share once we've finalized them.

[dogwitch]

[Jade smiles and gives a little nod.] I look forward to it then.

[glowsferatu]

[ but kanaya leans in and whispers like she has some amazing secret she can't keep. she's excited, okay. ]

We're forming a book club!

[dogwitch]

Ooooh! That sounds fun.

[Jade claps her hands together and does a small, excited bounce.]

[glowsferatu]

[ kanaya meets her with an excited smile of her own. ]

It certainly should be, though I suspect we may encounter some difficulty moving beyond our typical literary fare.

[dogwitch]

[Jade gives a chuckle.]

Then you should ask for suggestions. Create a list, that way you have a variety of books.

[glowsferatu]

Well, that was the attempt I was making.

[ she looks down at the pile in her arms. romance, lesbian romance, vampire romance, lesbian vampire romance. variety is the spice of life! ]

Do you have any to offer?

[dogwitch]

[Jade takes a glance at the titles before snickering.]

You may want to add a few things to the list that aren't romance. Like maybe some adventure stories.

[ kanaya knew this, of course, but... ] I really wouldn't even know where to begin with the genre!

[dogwitch]

Hmmm... [Jade chews her lip thoughtfully.] Maybe with some classics? Well...the classics that haven't mysteriously vanished from this world, that is.

[glowsferatu]

I'm still acquainting myself with what those are on Earth. I don't recognize any of the titles.

[ it took her forever to recognize twilight before it disappeared, though the prominence of the movies helped at least. ]

[dogwitch]

Well... [She hums thoughtfully as she glances about at the nearby books.]

Oh! Here we go. A collection of short stories by Edgar Allen Poe. Classic and I'm sure you'd find it of interest. [The book floats off the shelf and hovers in front Kanaya.]

[ she makes a thoughtful noise as she tucks her selection under an arm and picks it out of the air, cracking it open to flip through the pages. ]
