C&C HOLIDAY JAMJAR ICE HOTEL HELL: PARTY
WHO: AHAHAHAHA. Just... just tag yourselves in.
WHERE: The Gorsewick Hotel
WHEN: December 19th. 5PM-7PM for setup, 7PM onward for dinner.
WARNINGS: Let's just cover for your basics unless something more specific comes up.
SUMMARY: Miles Edgeworth and Remus Lupin are hosting the second comm-wide holiday party and have rented out the dining hall in the Gorsewick for the night. Everyone comes in for food, warmth, and (relatively... hopefully...) civil company. Whether or not they can leave is another story.
FORMAT: IF IT FEELS GOOD, DO IT! Long prose, action brackets, rapidfire dialogue, present tense, past tense--whatever floats your narrative boat!
The Gorsewick is not all that large a hotel, although it would very much like to grow up to be one someday, a mere five stories tall and having only a small parking garage to its name. The owner is clearly an optimistic sort of fellow, building a place like this in the City despite the risk the existence of imPorts poses to it and the hits the tourism industry has taken from their antics; bigger places than this have been smashed to pieces by enormous grey lizards with bad cases of heartburn.
Sadly, it just isn't paying off. At a time when people should be on vacation, packing his rooms to the max, the Gorsewick is... really, really empty. The groups renting out the dining hall are pretty much the only things keeping it afloat this month.
Still, appearances must be upheld, and although it is mildly understaffed, it is currently no less well-cared for. The handful of people on duty that night are friendly and the place is clean as a whistle--no bugs, no rats, no dust, nothing like that. He may be running a sinking ship, but the owner is damned determined to keep it a tidy one on the way down.
Come on in.

Open!
But he was here anyway--admittedly, he'd only come because he couldn't shake the feeling that the other Yuugi thought he should--and there was food and frankly, standing around and not eating was more awkward than finding himself a spot to squeeze in at one of the tables and filling himself a plate.
So, once he felt he could do so without attracting the attention of too many people, he found himself a spot at one of the tables and scooped a bit of food onto his plate.

Despite the ladies' flowered derby hat she was wearing, Ysera looked like something that had stepped right off a Duel Monsters card with her green hair, elven ears, green and gold clothing and cloak, and small horns.
no subject
while he himself was perfectly normal-looking, of course, but Ysera was easily the most striking. It was time for a 'durr, pretty girl' reaction."H-hello," he stammered in Japanese (he already had his communicator ready for any tranlsating that might be needed during this party), feeling rather stupid as he tried not to stare. She had her eyes closed anyway so it wasn't like she could see him, right? "Merry Winter-- Christmas to you, too," he added hastily.
no subject
Responding in slightly fumbling Mandarin, "Are you enjoying the party?"
no subject
"Oh--Yeah, it's great," he answered when he looked up again, his tone a great deal more enthusiastic than he actually felt. Only after speaking did he realize that she had switched languages on him and probably done so because she couldn't understand him, so the lie was totally unnecessary.

When she spoke, it was in Common again, rather than Chinese. "I am Ysera, it is nice to meet you."
no subject
She was going to open her eyes to read her communicator, wasn't she?
"I'm Yuugi," he greeted in return after checking his comm again. "It's nice to meet you, too," he added, pausing for a second before shrugging to himself and inclining his head in a small bow because it was the polite thing to do.
no subject
"Might I ask where you are from, Yuugi? I am unfamiliar with your language..."
She's sorry if she's unnerving you, Yuugi, but she has a feeling opening her eyes would be even more unnerving.

Yuugi drew back and nearly dropped his communicator in surprise, shooting a few quick glances to his left and right as though someone might appear and tell him what was going on. Which of course did not happen.
Okay then...
Uh.
Giving Ysera a rather wary look now, he checked his comm for the translation again and then swallowed once before answering. "I'm-- from Japan. I speak Japanese." A pause and then he went on, sounding not entirely sure of himself. "Uh... Where are you from?"

"I came here with the other Yuugi," he explained, forfeiting personal comfort in favor of clarity in the way that he referred to the guy who looked so much like him. He still wouldn't admit to having another self but he could say 'the other Yuugi' when speaking to a third party, since so many people knew the other one as the original Yuugi anyway.

"Umm... Yeah! I think so," he answered in response to Bakura's question, turning his attention back to the table so the other boy wouldn't see he was faking some of that optimism. Honestly, things between the Yuugis were still pretty awkward, though not close to as bad as they'd been in the beginning.
no subject
"Aa, that's good!" he smiled, in too good of a mood to pick up on the fact that Yuugi's optimism was forced. "Getting the hang of City life now that you've been here longer?"
no subject
He'd been doing everything he could think of to NOT 'settle in' since his arrival, to be honest. Minus coming to this party, but he'd only done because he felt an obligation to the other Yuugi. He still didn't really want to be here.

That was one of the large differences between him and Yuugi. Yuugi had family back home, family and close friends. All Bakura had had had been Yuugi.

It was time to talk about something else now.
"So, I guess you know a lot of the people who are here tonight?"
no subject
Oh, a topic switch! He loved topic switches away from awkward things that were going wrong!
"Aa-- un!" he smiled, rubbing the back of his neck. "Probably around half of everyone here!" He wasn't sure how accurate that was, but he had seen a lot of people he knew!
no subject
"Ehhh, really?" Yuugi glanced quickly around the room again, confirming what he already knew--there were a bunch of people here. He blinked. "How did you meet them all?"
