It was going to be a full day for Bakura, showing Momiji around the shop to help him pick a job onto of his usual routine and chores.

He wasn't expecting to grow bunny ears. Really, he had no reason to.

"Aaa--" Bakura rubbed the back of his neck. "Un, it's just a little weird, that's all. Not used to it yet, sorry!"

He went to sit down again before making a small noise and shifting so he was sitting at the end of the chair, looking very embarrassed. "I'm more worried about one of the other employees seeing," he admitted sheepishly.

Momiji gave him a curious look. Bakura acted like he liked the other employees pretty well. "Why? Are you afraid they'll say something?"

"U--- un... Something like this... I'm supposed to be the one in charge," he tried to explain. "There's appearances to keep up, you know?"

It was one thing to come in as a robot, especially when everyone was new! But now? With 3-- no, 4 stores he was responsible for?

Momiji nodded absently. "That's the reason for the hat then. But I don't think that anyone would think any different. If things like this happen a lot, I'm sure they'll understand."

"Maybe..."

There was just that unspoken line between Import and Native. And something like this only reinforced it.

Only not really since this was also happening to NPCs but Bakura didn't know THAT yet.

Momiji had already begun to realize that, after chatting with Jordan about the state of affairs between the people of this world and those who were not. "I'm sorry this happened, but it'll all turn out okay." He said cheerfully, deciding that Bakura looked too nervous about this whole thing.

Bakura was still rather hung up on appearances and being how he should be, even with the improvements he'd made. But he gave a smile nodding. "Un. I just have to hide it for a few days, after all!"

"Yeah, that's the spirit." Hey look at that Momiji was being useful. "Now, what should i be doing Boss?"

"Aaa~aah! Don't call me that for start!" Bakura laughed, blushing slightly. "Let me get my hat, then I can show you around the floor and see what you want to try out!"

"But that's what you supposed to call the person you work for!" Momiji argued, grinning. "I can't call you Bakura-kun at work, that's disrespectful."

Oh he recognized this fight. He lost it with Shuichi!

"Aa~aah... if you really have to use something different, you can use Ryou-san. But almost everyone just calls me Bakura at work. Sometimes with a Mister..."

"Fine, Ryou-san it is." Momiji nodded, mostly to himself. "Now isn't that better."

Matsuka was... running a little late. Ordinarily he'd have arrived within minutes of Bakura, in time to get some coffee or tea started before settling down to work; his co-workers seemed to enjoy it, which made it rewarding for Matsuka and worth a bit of extra time in the mornings.

But this morning he was preoccupied, and came hurrying up the stairs to the office a bit behind his normal schedule, out of breath and flushed from the cold. "Ah, Ryou, I'm sorry..."

Bakura smiled at Momiji, nodding before he reached for his hat, carefully setting it down over his ears and holding it in place.

"If anyone asks, it was a horrible accident in the shower that I'm hiding," he joked with a smile before heading for the stairs, only to nearly run into Matsuka.

And lose his grip on his hat. Which again fell.

"It's all right, don't worry about it!" he assured with a smile. "Everything all right?"

"You got it Ryou-san!" Momiji saluted, trotting behind Bakura. And then came another guy rushing into the room, whom Momiji could only assume was another worker.

For a moment Matsuka nearly just poured out his worries right there - but the presence of another person made him check himself, and that gave him the moment of focus he needed to take another look at Bakura.

He blinked.

"Ryou... your ears..."

"Aaa..." Bakura scratched at his cheeks a moment. "The Porter..." he half explained.

And that really explained everything. "Ah," Matsuka said, inclining his head a little in understanding. "Another one of those things..."

A beat passed before he looked up to Momiji, apologetically. "I'm sorry if I was rude just now."

Momiji who had been amusing himself by further examining the room, looked up when spoken to. "Ah, it's okay. You're fine." He held up his hands dismissively, smiling.

"I'm Sohma Momiji." He bowed slightly, figuring he should be on his best behavior if he was to work here. "It's nice to meet you."

It was how you could tell when someone had been in the City any length of time that that short explanation was all that was needed.

"I offered Momiji-kun a job," Bakura explained with a smile, retrieving his hat and again trying to carefully settle it over his ears. "Part time while he's at school."

"Ah, that's good." Matsuka smiled at Momiji as pleasantly as he could manage, although he was still a little bit distracted. "I'm Jonah Matsuka - I work in the office in the mornings. I'm glad to meet you."

"If you work in the mornings, I guess I won't see you much." Momiji shrugged. Oh, well. At least they'd been able to meet. "Ah, but I hope we get along anyway Matsuka-san."

"Aaa, that's right! If you're coming in around classes, you'll be on the afternoon shift, won't you?" Bakura realized belatedly, still trying to keep his hat over his ears. It really wasn't working too well.

But he wasn't so distracted at his own plight to miss Matsuka's own distraction.

'Everything all right?' he thought aloud.

Matsuka's smile faltered very slightly as he caught the thought from Bakura.

I - could we talk about it a little later? Right now isn't...

The thought trailed off as he tried to focus on what Momiji had said. "I'm sure everything will be fine," he said. "I'm glad that you'll be joining us, anyway. Ah, I'm a little late this morning, but if you'd like some tea or coffee I can start some...?"

"Yeah, is that a problem?" Momiji asked, attention held on Bakura. He hoped not, he had just talked to the school about enrolling. He'd feel bad if he had to go back and drop out.

Turning to Matsuka he shook his head and smiled. "No, thank you. I'm not thirsty." And he'd never had too much of a taste for coffee anyway. Everyone he knew made it too bitter. Momiji much preferred sweet drinks.
