that roadtrip song from a goofy movie softly plays
WHO: Geddoe and Zel (still cured btw)
WHERE: All over the friggin country...FOLLOWING A RAIL LINE MORE OR LESS
WHEN: 1/29 to....whenever they get back in one piece...AT LEAST A WEEK.
WARNINGS: elle doesn't capitalize in action brackets OH NO seriously idk what to warn about
SUMMARY: screw this snow noise we're going out west. totally not going to get lost along the way.
FORMAT: no
So once upon a time, two men from high fantasy settings decided that record-breaking snowfall on the east coast was stupid and also being hassled by local authorities for magically blowing up things wasn't much fun either. The solution was clear: Get the hell out of Dodge the City.
By train. Because lots of people took the train - it has to be totally fine, right?
A series of train rides with hopes to getting to Arizona. Here's some threads of what happens along the way and after. ENJOY.

actually no, he's landing with his armful of kindling. hey old man. have a huff and a glance over your way on return.]
no subject
There you are. Good work.

zel dumps his findings on the ground rather unceremoniously, grunting a reply. he takes a knee and gets to work making the pit.] We're going to have to move if we stay out here another night. This is all I could find close by.
no subject
[he looks up at the sky, then, and the growing twilight]
...this will do for tonight, though.

he leans back, shifting weight off his knee to his backside and scooting away, dragging a few unneeded pieces of wood along with him. forgetting just what he was about to do a second ago gives him pause to consider - huh - that he hadn't been camping outdoors in a long time. longer still with the body to actually feel and appreciate the heat.
weird.]
no subject
That's more like it. Good one.
no subject
Did your unit roam around and camp out like this? Back before.
no subject
[he glances up and omfg is that a smile?] ...they were of the mind that anywhere you couldn't get a drink was uncivilized.
no subject
Huh. [he lays back, head cushioned by his hands.] I know the type.
no subject
Ran with a few besides Lina, did you?
no subject
...usually not by choice.] It's some kind of weird side-effect of Lina just being Lina. She drags people into her messes and weird ideas, usually for the long haul.
[dryly:] Or she'll just wheedle into your business and not leave well enough alone, which in turn drags you into her business...
no subject
So you're part of her crew, and not the other way around.
no subject
beat.
...yeah, he is. dangit. sigh. resigned:] Not by choice. I said she's nosy, so.
no subject
It happens to the best of us.
[the fire is hot enough for cooking, by now, so time to roast some tasty rabbit-kebabs. Mmm]

he mulls and grumbled about this and that in silence for a while, attention brought back by a particularly loud crackle from the fire. his head turns on habit, but he can't see geddoe from the way he's laying at the moment. well, whatever. it's not like there's other people to talk aloud to and cause confusion.]
Do you want any of them to show up here?
no subject
I neither want it, nor don't. [another pause, much shorter though] It would be nice to see a familiar face, but I get along fine without them. I'm not sure I want to inflict Ace on the female population of this world, though.

He's resilient, though. Queen hasn't killed him yet, not for lack of trying.

[the chuckle trails off after a bit. Ahh...funny]
Does it make a difference? Having someone from home, here, I mean.
no subject
well...] I guess.
It's something to pay attention to.
no subject
[mulling, while cooking. Hahaha "cooking"]
Granted. An incentive not to ignore everything is a good idea...
no subject
zel sits up eventually, rubbing the back of his head. it's not very comfortable laying on your hands for so long. but that's fine, because food will be soon. he frowns a little, still mulling his response over.]
Or...if you'd rather not have them exposed to this place for whatever reason.
no subject
I traveled alone for many years; being without my team is no big deal to me.
