[It was Tom's first couple weeks running the bar, and, surprisingly, it had gone pretty well so far. The transition itself was a bit of a challenge, but once he'd become accustomed to it, it really wasn't so bad at all. In fact, he found himself even enjoying the work, even if it meant extra hours for the time being, since the promotion and port-outs lately meant that they were running a bit understaffed.

That wasn't why he was pulling other duties besides just managing the place, though. Working behind the bard was one of the best jobs he had, and he really enjoyed it. He got to talk to people at the bar (and occasionally have a drink or two himself). It was the social aspect that he liked, which was why, to maybe draw in a few new regular customers, he was offering free drinks for the week.]

Comics aren’t so much a place. Unless we go to a comic book store, which… [Not so much the social place. He does have another idea though]

Hey how about sports? The Institute's got grounds.

[Raph is curious, however; he keeps hearing about this place, and that makes him wonder.]

So what's the deal with this 'institute'?

[ Yeah Julian just throws that term about like everyone knows. :| Hey, they usually do. He shrugs. ]

Xavier's?

It's a school. It's kind of my school. Except my version was up in Westchester, and it got totalled a while back. The one here's a pretty good replica.

It was mutant school, pretty much. Taught everything a regular school would, but had things like power training too. And it was a boarding school. Think this world's model is too.

[Xavier's? What. The. Hell. He knew Julian was superpowered but-- that he just thought was part Porter. But now some of the things he said fell into place...]

[He's like, a baby X-Man or something!]

I get ya. Never been to school myself... don't think I'll start anytime soon.

Yeah. And scrounged books, and stolen cable...

[He grins. They got by. He didn't know how to explain how lucky they were, really, but he knows that they were.]

Your dad taught you to steal cable? ...That's pretty cool. Specially if no one noticed, what with you guys staying hidden and all that.

Well, no. Cable came later, as Donnie got older. All sorts of manuals end up in the dump, you know? He learned from all of them.

Eventually, we had cable.
