Well, when I'm wembling west...

WHO: /Ruka, Tonks, Andromeda Tonks, Lily Potter, Luna Lovegood, Ginny Weasley, and Hermione Granger.
WHERE: a large, popular department store in the City
WHEN: Sunday, August 21st 2011
WARNINGS: Hideous outfits may pop up! Polyvore may become a timesink. Don't worry about the ladies though, Ruka is there to chaperon them.
SUMMARY: They've had over a week of relative quiet in the City. It's time to go shopping and then lunch.
FORMAT: Quick to start, then whatever. There is no posting order, multi-threads are encouraged.

Invitations had been sent out, either by text or by verbal invitation. Originally, it was just supposed to be Tonks, Ruka and Lily Potter but then others had arrived. It didn't feel right to Tonks that they be left out, so they'd been invited too.

The more the merrier, right?

Tonks looks up at the large, multi-level department store. It's big, gigantic even. Everyone is bound to find something they like, she thinks.

She's standing by one of the entrances. All that she has left to do now is wait for everyone to arrive. Tonks is easy to spot, her hair is a vivid shade of vermilion.

"They've actually..." Tonks puts down the purple shoe. She's not into them anyway. They look nice but she can't walk in them. Her mother's story just cements her vow to never wear a pair. "Really?" Ow.

"I don't know what possesses pureblood mothers to think buying their teenage daughters shoes taller than some of their wands is a good idea." She smirks, though, and shakes her head.

"And yes, really. Very dangerous. Although, I suppose if that's what they're going for..."

"Forget witches, how do Muggles walk in these things?" They didn't have a Supersensory Charm or anything. Did they possess an amazing sense of grace? Were they just lucky? Did it come with practice?

"I think I'll just stick with flipflops, they're much more comfortable anyway." And she can get so many for so less!

Andromeda has raised her daughter to recognize bargains and not be completely ridiculous. She's glad it stuck.

"I can only imagine what Muggle women do in them. I suppose they just practice until they're able to walk properly."

Tonks can think of a few things to do with them that will not involve walking. She does not voice them to her mother, however. "I'm glad I arrived here in my boots. I'd hate to have to break in a new pair."

"If the Porter had taken me five minutes earlier, I would've arrived in my knickers. Imagine the embarrassment, not for myself though." Tonks falls into the middle of the range as far as shopping goes. She can take it or leave it. It's not something she has to do but she doesn't mind it either. "D'you need anything Mum?"

"I probably ought to pick up some more suitable clothes," she says casually, "As I'm going to be starting at the clinic soon enough."

"Oh, you did? Congratulations Mum. When did you start?" Oh, Andromeda. You're getting to be such and adult. "What d'you have to wear?" Thank Merlin Tonks doesn't have to wear a uniform to work.

"It isn't so much a matter of what I have to wear as what I think I probably should. Muggle scrubs, more than likely."

Maybe she'll be able to find some with cute animals on them. She wasn't sure whether that would be considered inappropriate or not; it depended largely on how many children they had at the clinic regularly, she supposed.

"Ahh, hrm. Well, at least those are practical." Mum, please don't look for ones with wee bunnies or cows, please. "Maybe solid color ones so you can mix and match?" Her intentions are completely obvious.

What about kittens, Nymphadora. Everyone loves kittens.

"Well, we'll see what we end up finding." If there are adorable animal prints, she WILL find them. And insist that they are the best deal because they're ... on sale or something like that.
