Well, when I'm wembling west...

WHO: /Ruka, Tonks, Andromeda Tonks, Lily Potter, Luna Lovegood, Ginny Weasley, and Hermione Granger.
WHERE: a large, popular department store in the City
WHEN: Sunday, August 21st 2011
WARNINGS: Hideous outfits may pop up! Polyvore may become a timesink. Don't worry about the ladies though, Ruka is there to chaperon them.
SUMMARY: They've had over a week of relative quiet in the City. It's time to go shopping and then lunch.
FORMAT: Quick to start, then whatever. There is no posting order, multi-threads are encouraged.

Invitations had been sent out, either by text or by verbal invitation. Originally, it was just supposed to be Tonks, Ruka and Lily Potter but then others had arrived. It didn't feel right to Tonks that they be left out, so they'd been invited too.

The more the merrier, right?

Tonks looks up at the large, multi-level department store. It's big, gigantic even. Everyone is bound to find something they like, she thinks.

She's standing by one of the entrances. All that she has left to do now is wait for everyone to arrive. Tonks is easy to spot, her hair is a vivid shade of vermilion.

“You fell right down? Down the chimney?” Ginny’s so caught up with imagining how that must have looked that she actually stops laughing for a minute, and then bursts out with it again. Oh, this isn’t funny really, it’s technically very dangerous, and she can just picture Hermione telling both of them off for making light of it. But it’s too good a story. “Now I’m just disappointed it wasn’t near Christmas! Though Neville would make a very odd Santa.”

"I think he'd be a delightful Santa," she said, clearly taken by the idea. "Though I'm not sure he'd agree with me. Perhaps if we found some friendly reindeer, though, and a nice sleigh--" Okay. Hermione definitely wouldn't approve of them using their magic like that. "Anyway, yes. Once you look back on it, it's really quite funny, isn't it? Plus, Mrs. Potter was quite kind about it, considering what her poor chimney went through."

Ginny wasn’t exactly taking this seriously, but the thought of it greatly amused her. All she could picture was Neville dressed as Santa and riding in a Charmed sleigh for Christmas. She decided then and there that Neville must never find out about this. She didn’t think he’d go for it at all.

“Well, it’s certainly an interesting way of getting to know your neighbours. And Neville said he was staying with the Potters so they can’t have been so very angry with the two of you.”

That was quite likely one of the wisest decisions Ginny had ever made. Particularly in light of the ever-present amused gleam in Luna's eyes.

"Perhaps they are keeping him to get a headstart on the presents," she said with a guilty giggle. "No, that is mean -- he was very nice about it, actually, considering that I could have killed us both."

She frowned. Then added, unnecessarily, "Which would be far less funny."

"Yes. That would have been rather more serious." Ginny frowns a bit. "But you didn't, so don't worry. Probably not something I'd try again in a hurry though."

"Yes, I think that would be wise." Luna nodded. "Though that's no excuse not to keep trying to fly -- even if it may be a while before I go back on a broom."

Ginny tilted her head to one side. “Why a while, Luna?” She shrugged. “You shouldn’t leave it too long, you know, you might get leery of it. Charlie always said the best thing to do when you fell off was get straight back on. Mind you, he does work with dragons, so maybe not the best person to look to for safety. But he usually knows what he’s talking about with flying!”
