WARNINGS: Tom always screws up when he tries to be nice to Baroona... So, we'll see.
SUMMARY: Baroona needs to get out of the City for a while. Getting people out seems to be Tom's job lately.

[Baroona had mentioned that the City was too much sometimes, so Tom had been planning to take him on a small trip for a weekend, just to help him feel more at home for a while. Besides, Tom figured that camping out with him was infinitely better than staying in the park where there could be rats and drifters and such.

Of course, Tom, being the genius that he is when it comes to hanging out with Baroona, figured that it would be a surprise, and didn't tell the other guy until he'd already rented a car and, by some miracle, got Baroona inside of it... Which, in retrospect was the worst idea ever, and the trip was pretty much miserable until he finally convinced the gladiator to take some medicine and fall asleep in the back.

Thankfully, he slept the rest of the way until they made it to the falls, and Tom woke him up.]

Oh... [Duh.] Yeah, that makes sense...

[And he's going to turn to the side and not look or anything.]

I didn't mean to disturb. I could just... go back to the campsite now.

[Saw it? It? Well, it was kind of hard not to see since Baroona was still standing there naked, but that wasn't the point.]

Well, yeah, kinda. It wasn't like I was looking or anything, though! I mean, it's not a big deal! We're both guys so it's nothing we haven't see, yeah?

[Can Tom just take that knife to his throat now?]

[] I'm not talking about that.

[Yeah, it's enough to make Tom recoil a little, taking a small step back, in case this somehow turns into something, though he's trying not to let it get that far.]

Yeah, I know... I see them.

[It isn't hard to see that Baroona is angry, and that it was about those tattoos. Tom didn't need to think it was about anything else, considering the time that they went swimming, Baroona refused to take off his shirt. Tom had always just assumed it was because of a scar or something, but this might have been worse, and the werepanther definitely had a few ideas about where they came from.]

Why did you get those?

[]

I didn't. [] They were given to me.

[Tom leans against a nearby tree, not moving any closer to Baroona, but he isn't going to drop the topic unless Baroona tells him to. This is probably the most that he's learned about the boy's past since they'd met.]

By who?

[]

My country.

[And now Tom is getting even more concerned and worried that his idea of it is right, but he's still clinging to the idea that he's hopefully wrong.]

Was it because of the military?

[] They were the ones who took me from my home.

So, [apprehensively] they took you away and forced you to fight?

[] They enslaved me and made me a gladiator.

Oh... [yeah, he really doesn't know what to say about that.] Is that how you became so strong?

[] It's how I became the champion.

I didn't know about that, that you were a champion. [Though, he says that with some degree of sadness in his tone.]
