You say you're wrong, you're wrong

WHO: EVERYONE
WHERE: City Hall
WHEN: 7:00 PM, EST
WARNINGS: RAMPANT CHAOS
SUMMARY: This is the townhall meeting, where everyone can come and show up, and wave accusations and shout to their little heart's content. They can also discuss skrull accusations in a calm manner if they really want.
FORMAT: Tagger's choice!

[ And the large room where the City Council met was open for business. The walls were lined with seats, there were rows and rows of seats, nice lighting, and even a couple tankards of coffee open for business. Look, he wasn't a complete monster! There was security, but they remained silent and observed, instructed only to interfere if things were escalating to violence, and only then. Most of the Mayor's staff were already there before people started to arrive, and they were sitting in most of the seats reserved for the City council. There wasn't music, but it would be a good half hour to forty five minutes before the actual proceedings got started.

When they did, it was all about an open forum.
]

[ooc; we're going to get the log up early! The plan is for everyone to go ahead and have fun tagging, and the ooc post will be up later tonight! ♥ ]

open

[No invisibility. Not like the Porter room. The threat was at least an identified one, and if this was a plot, he was going to draw it out into the open. He wanted to see who stood where, and who fingered whom.]

[Not coming to the meeting would've been irresponsible -- she knows that, but it doesn't do much to make her feel more at ease about this place. The moment she spots a familiar face (mask), she steps over to Ghost and stands next to him, arms crossed over her chest. She's in human form for now, if only because if she decides to do something silly like offer to prove that she isn't a Skrull, she doesn't want to risk dying of a massive infection.]

This is a terrible idea.
hacktivist: (it slips right out of view)

[personal profile] hacktivist 2012-02-22 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
But it is an idea. [a slight headcock in her direction] For all that I don't trust the Mayor, unlike the imPorts counseling fatal patience, he seems to be making a move towards resolution of the crisis.

Has anyone treated you badly for being an alien?
gofortheoptics: (Human - fiddling with comm.)

He did seem genuine during the short time I spoke with him through the communicators. I just hope he's prepared for a good deal of transparency, considering what's going on.

[And how hard it is to get people to agree to things like this.]

Not so far, no. I came like this in the event that someone decides to try and force someone to prove they aren't a Skrull. If what it takes is some tiny piece of flesh, it might be worth it.

If he is one of them, he is note-perfect. [but that goes without saying.]

I would not encourage them.
gofortheoptics: (Human - sad and confused)

[personal profile] gofortheoptics 2012-02-23 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
I guess you're right about that. This crowd looks like it's waiting for an excuse to bubble over.

[ The Negotiator was pinged by Ghost's appearance. That was the one who had discovered the skrulls in the first place. He considers it before approaching, all human'ed up, walking with a cane. He was interested in what information this person had - and what he could find out. ]

Excuse me.
hacktivist: (but he changed me i'm his ghost)

[personal profile] hacktivist 2012-02-22 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
[He ran a quick face scan, didn't hit any matches. Cocked his head. No way anybody would let a non-import in here.]

Yes?
futurebatwoman: ([A] considering)

[personal profile] futurebatwoman 2012-02-22 08:20 am (UTC)(link)
[ She watches him from her position in a back corner of the room, tracking both him and anyone watching him, much as she's watching Sherlock and Mitchell and everyone else she suspects a little bit. ]
hacktivist: (ain't it hard sometimes to say)

[personal profile] hacktivist 2012-02-22 10:55 am (UTC)(link)
[He doesn't feel the eyes on him quite as much, at first, since he's sure he's being watched, but after a little while he turns to look at her directly. Silently.

Wondering if it would cause or allay suspicion, not to move. To move. To draw a potential lynch mob her way, too... Judging, weighing. Disliking the situation.

Then he broke, and flew over, landing lightly in front of her.]

I can't stay long speaking to you--it could draw negative connotations. If I am outed as a Skrull, I would like you to have access to my list of current suspicions. Work with the Midnighter, he is either trustworthy or an expensive enough enemy that his defection speeds us towards an inevitable endgame.

[a beat]

I know your outing yourself to me was an accident. I intend to be worthy of the regard it would have taken naturally.
futurebatwoman: ([A] determined)

[personal profile] futurebatwoman 2012-02-22 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[ She doesn't know what what she was expecting, but as he comes over she does her best to remain relaxed and unconcerned looking for anybody watching. ]

It's okay. I have a trump card and witnesses to me being not a Skrull, even if I'd rather not have to play it.

[ She leans forward a little. No one's too close, which is good. ]

Okay. And Sherlock? Do you think he's worth the risk, or not?

[ a pause. she looks down, then back up with a wry smile. ]

Thank you. I appreciate it.
hacktivist: (there were 1s and 0s everywhere)

[personal profile] hacktivist 2012-02-23 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
I would not like to say your torture was fortunate. But you can play it to your advantage.

[Ghost twitches with a physical backwards recoil at the mention of Sherlock. He doesn't say anything for a full thirty seconds. Then finally] No.
futurebatwoman: ([A] apprehensive / sad)

[personal profile] futurebatwoman 2012-02-23 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
You can call it what you like. Fortunate is as good a word as any, I guess.

[ She flinches at his reaction a bit herself, and closes her eyes for a long moment. ] Like that, huh.

Frag it.

Ghost.

[Houston steps up next to Ghost, using his speed to get through the crowd easier.]

This whole meeting's giving me a bad feeling...
