A Very Weasley Birthday Party
WHO: Ron Weasley, anyone who lives at the Trollburrow, and *Open to any of Ron's friends who'd like to make an appearance!
WHERE: The Trollburrow
WHEN: Evening of Thursday 1 March
WARNINGS: None. Well, possible pranks and things. Weasley Warnings.
SUMMARY: It's Ron's birthday and we're having a party!
FORMAT: However you like.
Not even a week has passed since Ron Weasley had been found sleeping on a spaceship, where he'd been hidden for weeks while a Skrull ran around wearing his face. Now that Skrull, along with all its friends, is gone, and the whole City is still feeling the aftershocks of that event.
But that doesn't matter tonight. That's because it's Ron Weasley's birthday, and in all fairness he'd be getting a party anyway. But after the week he's had, he definitely deserves one. Fred, George and Ginny have fitted out the Trollburrow for the occasion, and all of Ron's friends have been invited.
A huge space has been cleared in the main room, and there's a table with all sorts of cakes, buns, cookies, ice-cream, and fizzy drinks. Across from it is another table where presents can go, and there's music playing from somewhere that's not quite clear. Some very friendly balloons are floating around the place, and will loudly sing Happy Birthday on request. Or if you get too near. Or if you look at them funny. Regardless, they're floating around the place and making a general nuisance of themselves. The room is lit up with dozens of glowing, colour-changing orbs which are floating just below the ceiling.
Everyone is welcome. Happy birthday Ron!

So, he felt more inclined to keeping quiet and watching everyone else. At least for now. He did get something for Ron using the money from the Porter and is holding the wrapped parcel in both hands, waiting until Ron is free from one of his siblings so that Harry can hand it over.

Here he is, though, and so Ron figures he can stop being discretely out-of-the-way and start being friendly.
"How are you, Harry? I'm glad you could make it."
no subject
"I wanted to give you this," he said, holding up the package. "Happy birthday."
Harry didn't know him well enough to make a good call on what Ron would have wanted, but he figured the gesture would do. It was just a blank journal, because Harry couldn't remember a conversation beyond their first that wasn't actually with him. Not exactly a trustworthy source of information.

He wasn't even sure where Harry would have gotten the money. The immediate supposition was that James had provided it, but... It didn't really matter. It was a very nice gesture, especially considering that Harry didn't know him well, had plenty of reasons to distrust him.
He didn't really know what he'd do with a journal, but he grinned at it nonetheless.
"Thank you. I'll... Find something to put in it. Rest assured."

Money was easy to come by. Providing one remembered to hold onto their tags. Harry kept them constantly around his neck beneath his shirt so they wouldn't jangle. Or be seen. There was something about them that made people give him second looks and he already received quite a few of them as it was.
"I'll get something better next year. Promise."
no subject
Odd to say, he was sure, but it was true. Harry had always been a very generous person. There wasn't reason for the boy to worry when he'd already been handing over birthday and holiday gifts since they'd met, practically.
"You have any cake, yet?"
no subject
He was taller than her then. So weird.
She came over to him, holding out a slice of cake on a plate.
"Hi Harry," she said. "Have some of this, go on. I'm glad you could come, how are you?"
no subject
"I left the MAC flats," he admitted after a moment.
no subject
"I saw your dad asking about school," she said. "Does that mean you're staying with him now?"
no subject
"I've got my own bedroom," he said as his way of an answer, looking more than a little pleased by this. "I've never had so much space before."
no subject
"No, well," she said. "It must make a nice change from being with your Aunt and Uncle."
no subject
"Yeah. And my dad is here," he falters slightly. "I don't think magic can do that. Just this place."
no subject
"No," she said. "Magic can't do that. Time doesn't follow its own rules here. Your dad, you, me, and Ron...we're all from different times. I've no idea how the City managed to bring us together like that. I don't think anyone knows."
