A Very Weasley Birthday Party
WHO: Ron Weasley, anyone who lives at the Trollburrow, and *Open to any of Ron's friends who'd like to make an appearance!
WHERE: The Trollburrow
WHEN: Evening of Thursday 1 March
WARNINGS: None. Well, possible pranks and things. Weasley Warnings.
SUMMARY: It's Ron's birthday and we're having a party!
FORMAT: However you like.
Not even a week has passed since Ron Weasley had been found sleeping on a spaceship, where he'd been hidden for weeks while a Skrull ran around wearing his face. Now that Skrull, along with all its friends, is gone, and the whole City is still feeling the aftershocks of that event.
But that doesn't matter tonight. That's because it's Ron Weasley's birthday, and in all fairness he'd be getting a party anyway. But after the week he's had, he definitely deserves one. Fred, George and Ginny have fitted out the Trollburrow for the occasion, and all of Ron's friends have been invited.
A huge space has been cleared in the main room, and there's a table with all sorts of cakes, buns, cookies, ice-cream, and fizzy drinks. Across from it is another table where presents can go, and there's music playing from somewhere that's not quite clear. Some very friendly balloons are floating around the place, and will loudly sing Happy Birthday on request. Or if you get too near. Or if you look at them funny. Regardless, they're floating around the place and making a general nuisance of themselves. The room is lit up with dozens of glowing, colour-changing orbs which are floating just below the ceiling.
Everyone is welcome. Happy birthday Ron!

She's beside a rather large birthday cake, which she baked just for the occasion, and she's waiting for Ron to arrive so that the candles (those Quidditch hoops) can be lit.

"Impressive." And he is impressed. "How'd you manage that? Didn't work too hard, did you?"
The cheer is something he's trying hard to dig up. He feels... Weird. Everything that's happened recently is weird.
no subject
And, sorry, but she's just going to hug him now.
"Happy birthday, Ron! I've been dying to do this ever since Christmas. I'm glad you like it. How are you?"
no subject
"I'm okay. This... This place is enough to adjust to without getting carted off to space."
Bit more to it than that, but he won't say so much.

"Well when you think of Ron, you think of Quidditch don't you?" she said. "I was going to try and make a Snitch, but the wings wouldn't work properly. So I made the stadium! And then the candles were just normal candles, but I transfigured them so they'd have hoops at the end. I think it worked all right!"

She doesn't see the birthday boy in sight anywhere which allows her to ask her next question. "How's it been with him since he's been back?"

You think we should do something a bit more grand?

...It is a celebration, after all.

... What're you standing around here for?

[ it's probably wise, being wary of fred's presence around the table. although for once, he's relatively harmless.

He swallows before he speaks. Ooh, look, manners. ]
Please don't blow anybody up at my birthday party.

Ever with a piece of cake in hand, of course.

When he comes out of the bathroom and find George standing in the hall, however, he finally has to say something. Though he keeps any tone of irritation out of his voice.
"All right, George?"
no subject
It was the normal joking, nearly mocking, tone the twins had used with Ron his whole life, but George's expression was edged with a touch of seriousness. Who knew what sort of after effects these matters can with. They'd need to start reinventing the dreamless sleep potion were they too much.
no subject
To his understanding, most of them had been of a normal, human size, save for the children amongst them. That was a different matter altogether, and a thought that he'd rather avoid.
But, no, he hadn't really been dreaming of space-people. He hadn't even been remembering space-people, and that... That was part of what was bothersome for him. He simply had a span of time that was blank, in which he'd been taken unawares and kept helpless while a look-alike duped the world around him and exploded a subway station, threatened his family. That was what got to him. He'd keep that to himself, too.
"No dreams about this space nonsense, no, and I'm not sore anymore. I'm fine."

"You know, he's not going to disappear right in front of you. I think potential kidnappers would be very slightly more subtle than that."
no subject
It was attempted to come out as a joke, but...well, given that Ron had recently vanished while out of sight, it was nearly a grim statement. George winced a bit at his own tone, and tried to toss a not-all-that-very reassuring smile at Ginny.
"Or I'd be a poor brother indeed that missed the reaction to the birthday prank."

So, he felt more inclined to keeping quiet and watching everyone else. At least for now. He did get something for Ron using the money from the Porter and is holding the wrapped parcel in both hands, waiting until Ron is free from one of his siblings so that Harry can hand it over.
no subject
Here he is, though, and so Ron figures he can stop being discretely out-of-the-way and start being friendly.
"How are you, Harry? I'm glad you could make it."
no subject
"I wanted to give you this," he said, holding up the package. "Happy birthday."
Harry didn't know him well enough to make a good call on what Ron would have wanted, but he figured the gesture would do. It was just a blank journal, because Harry couldn't remember a conversation beyond their first that wasn't actually with him. Not exactly a trustworthy source of information.

He was taller than her then. So weird.
She came over to him, holding out a slice of cake on a plate.
"Hi Harry," she said. "Have some of this, go on. I'm glad you could come, how are you?"
no subject
"I left the MAC flats," he admitted after a moment.
