[ Once again, she feels a prick of guilt when she slips out of the apartment, leaving Nill all alone for the night. It's the last thing she needs, but Kate reminds herself she knew what she was getting into when she first donned this uniform. It has to be done. This is her duty.

[there's a long pause at that question and her brow creases in thought. she can speak, it's just a matter of whether she feels like speaking. and she doesn't. never has.

so, technicalities aside, Chell finally shakes her head.

[ Alright, that puts things in an awkward light. Still, she's much interested in that portal gun, seeing as how this one looks fully operational. The one she saw on the Network was clearly malfunctioning. ]

[Chell shakes her head, looking down at the device for a second.

she takes one hand off it and gestures to her chest, at the name on her tank top. Aperture Laboratories.

she's just a test subject, nothing more. the only scientific skills she possessed were building potato batteries, and even she didn't remember if that was actually hers.

she raises an inquisitive eyebrow after that. how did this stranger know about the portal gun? had she met GLaDOS when She, apparently, had been here?]

[ She mouths the name to herself, then fixates on Chell once more. There's a tiny smirk across her face. It's neither sly or cruel, though. ]
