SUMMARY: Diana pays an informal visit to City Hall.
FORMAT: Quick at first, then whatever!

[Diana has been looking forward to this visit for several reasons. She admittedly wants to see how the City is being run, and while it isn't her priority, it's a good opportunity to observe.

She arrives without pomp and dressed in casual clothing, her Wonder Woman armor and accessories nowhere in sight. She isn't exactly inconspicuous despite this, but she's still hoping to blend in. After all, she isn't here in any formal capacity -- only to visit friends.]

Oh? Is something the matter? [At least he doesn't sound too worried, which calms Diana.] Do you need my assistance with something?

[viced]

Well, yes, actually. Well, more of a proposal. [ He starts to walk the direction of his office. ]

I think you'll notice that we've been having PR problems as a community.

[themysciran]

It definitely hasn't escaped my notice. [She follows him, her strides becoming more purposeful.] I assume your proposal is related to this.

[viced]

Yeah, in a way. I don't want to say it's completely about that, but the opportunity to fix it can't be ignored.

[ It's really not a long walk, and after a bit, there's the door to his office. ]

[themysciran]

[She waits for him to enter before walking in.] Then I would love to hear about this proposal, especially if I can help mend the situation.

[viced]

[ Mitch's office is most notably the largest, although it's also most notably very spartan. Blue carpet, Red curtains, white walls. There might be a theme going on, but it's not exactly garishly advertised. There's the desk and chairs, with bookshelves everywhere, most of them have to do with the laws of the City itself. Mitch indicates a chair as he walks behind the desk, and sits. ]

We think it might. You've heard what Vulcanus is doing, right? Humanitarian missions, peacekeeping, the sort of stuff we should be doing right now, but have been so busy with our heads in other places, that we haven't been able to do?

[themysciran]

I am aware, yes. [Diana takes a seat on the chair Mitch gestured at. It doesn't take long for her to put two and two together, but she's still wondering what her role is in all this.] And you want us to start focusing on them, I take it. Are you looking for individuals to help you with carrying out these duties?

[viced]

Yeah, I do. Edward came up with it, actually. [ He waves a hand. ] We're looking for people to help lead the initiative. I'm sure his reasoning for coming up with it is purely political, but the things that we could do out there would go a long way to make this entire world better. We've been so short-sighted with just protecting the City.

[themysciran]

I agree, but that would take an immense amount of organization and effort. [The City Hall is already stretched thin as it is. But she supposes that's why he's asking for her help -- but she needs to clarify a lot of things before getting involved in this project.] What exactly will be my role in this initiative?

[viced]

[ He leans back, bringing the fingers of his hands together in a steeple. ]

Oh, it definitely would. We were thinking of signing on several different people, each with different talents. Let's be honest, you have a lot of talent in diffusing situations, and diplomacy. You know how different parts of the world work, and how we can help them without being an intrusion. That's the kind of thing we need.

[ He swept a hand, turning his head to look out the window. ]

We have all these powers, you know? At the same time, Vulcanus is doing more for them without powers, but we don't need to flaunt them, give someone a fucking Lex Luthor syndrome or anything.

[themysciran]

[Diana is silent for a moment, thinking about what Mitch has said. This would be exactly what she was doing back home, but now it would take a political turn -- and she didn't know how closely this group would be affiliated with the government. She would agree to take on the position in a heartbeat, but she does make it a point not too associate herself too closely with any political party for several reasons. Still, she has to admit that she has far less influence here, and if she wanted the resources the City could provide, she has to compromise on their terms.]

I understand the political reasoning behind this, but how closely would this initiative be tied to the government? I have no qualms about being associated with your administration, but I would prefer working as an ambassador rather than as a government official.

[viced]

Honestly? We're hoping that it's enough to make a difference, without being too close. I don't want to have a few desk jockeys sitting somewhere determining where you should go. I trust your instincts. That's why I honestly wanted to ask you to come on board with this.

[ He paused, before continuing, giving her a rueful smile. ] I won't lie, there's politics in this, but I don't think it's just for the City government. I think it'll be good for us imports as a whole. We should have been doing this long ago, regardless.

[themysciran]

We also have to account for the number of crises here in the City -- I'm certain we would have branched out already, if we weren't so preoccupied with keeping it safe. [But she smiles back, her expression bright.] I'll certainly give it some consideration. But don't worry, even if I decide not to involve myself directly with the project, I'll still support it however else I can.
