sons, daughters, you've been made not to fade
WHO: DRAGONS OH BOY. aka Aurican and Khisanth!
WHERE: SOMEWHERE IN THE CITY
WHEN: tonight
WARNINGS: none
SUMMARY: Those conveniently color coded dragons meet up and do like good and evil tend to: not get along very well.
FORMAT: quicklog
[ She never wants to go to France again. It had taken entirely too long for herself, Parker, and Isaac to get back again, and she's more than had her fill of traveling. Unfortunately she still has to return to her swamp, but... well, she's going to put that off for a few days. She can survive in the City until then.
And first on her list of things to do, while she'd procrastinating on the return flight home, is to revel in the fact that she can finally take her true shape again, without being diverted to the form of a small dog. Man that had been annoying.
So Khisanth is currently a dark shadow perched at the edge of a 10 story building, wings folded to her sides, and simply enjoying the evening. And she'd made sure to find herself a meal outside of the City, so as not to be tempted by the smells of the City's most populous creature. She's really not feeling keen on another confrontation with anyone who might object to her picking off humans for dinner. ]

Swooping down on a particular large building that can hold his weight, he perched precariously on the ledge, right across from Khisanth. He has not seen her as the other buildings blocked her from his sight, but as he settled down, he quickly realize he isn't alone.
Swinging his head, he spots a black dragon - the very kind that he and Darlantan has slain not too long ago. He stills, looking at her intently. ]

But... no. This dragon's wings are all wrong, more like some aquatic creature's fins than her own batlike wings. And his scales aren't bronze, they're... golden. And he's larger than Lioth had been, even larger than herself.
It's this last fact that finally snaps her out of her curiosity, and into a guarded wariness. She's never met any of the metallic dragons of her world. She need not jump to conclusions about this one, he could be from somewhere where golds are perfectly civil. She eyes him, wings half mantled and body poised to move. Either forward, to attack, or backward, to escape. She's not sure which yet. ]
You look out of place. [ Rumbled in the draconic tongue, which even the dragons from other worlds had understood. ]

One can say the same for the same for you, being in a world dominated by machines and humans.

—Which is when another piece of the puzzle presents itself, and she silently curses herself for not having thought of it immediately. That human she'd met, Aurican, the cleric of Paladine. Or what she'd thought was a cleric of Paladine. The green dragon she'd met had been able to take the shape of an elf, she can take any shape she likes, why wouldn't a gold turn into an old man?
Her eyes narrow, but she's completely still and taunt otherwise. ]
Aurican.

Khisanth.
We've finally meet.

Does she attack? She should. She's certain Takhisis would prefer she fly at him in a truly impressive rage, ripping and tearing until there wasn't a single gold scale left intact. But... Takhisis hasn't been a concern of hers for over a year. She should hate him, he's a metallic—he's also the only other being she's ever seen here from Krynn.
Her tail thrashes once, and a few indecisive quivers run down her body, but she doesn't attack. Or speak. She's mostly just looking conflicted, actually. ]

Are you considering to resume the practices of home, now that I am here? To wage war in a world that there are no gods, no Abyss or Dome of Creation?
no subject
Why bother? Even if I decided to kill you, this world would be no more mine than it was yesterday. Humans reign here.
[ She's still not settled on a course of action, but she is sure that the right approach is feigned (or not) disinterest. If she's going to fight a gold dragon, it's not going to be from the front, in an honest attack. That would be ridiculously unwise. ]
no subject
[ Aurican's gold eyes are piercing, taking in every detail, every movement she makes. ]
So why haven't you?
no subject
Tell me what you know about Corrozus.
no subject
The first black dragon, formed in Takhisis' image. When the Sons of Takhisis rose to war, they attacked the Daughters of Paladine, and Corrozus was the one who slain Querrasian, the first copper dragon. It was said he wore a necklace of copper scales as a trophy. In the end, he was killed by Aurora, the first gold, by fire and fang.

And then she recalls just who she's having this conversation with. (Why is it so easy to lose track of that?) She's tensed again, still readied. ]
How old are you?
no subject
[ He spent a thousand years in the grotto without seeing the sun, he really has no idea. ]
And of you?
no subject
She's not sure if she should be amazed or skeptical, but she is sure that she won't be answering. She has no idea what her age is, but she knows she's spent no more than six of her years conscious. ]
Look at us. Chatting like old friends. [ There's a toothy grin in place as she says it, and her body takes on a bit more of a comfortably looping curve. ] There's something wrong with this picture, don't you think?
[ She's half honestly asking it, even as it's out in a teasing purr. They are supposed to be at each other's throats, aren't they? ]
no subject
And as I much as I dislike your kind, I don't see a reason to resume any fighting.
[ He replies just as breezily as he gave a pause, then added: ]
Unless you give me one.
no subject
Gods, this is confusing. ]
I've lived here for more than a year. I've learned the best ways to avoid unpleasant situations with the locals and imPorts alike, and those ways don't include burning or melting large parts of the City.
[ This disinterest in fighting may not wholly acted anymore. There's definitely some truth in her words, as she would really like to avoid being locked away again. ]
no subject
[ Due to Aurican awful lack of understanding sarcasm, it's hard to tell if he's being genuine or being rather dry with her. ]
Takhisis' philosophies have never been practical.
[ YEP HE WENT THERE. ]
no subject
So in a second she relaxes, folding her wings calmly into her body. She's not going to fall for that. ]
Takhisis is just as absent from this realm as Paladine is.
no subject
Fortunate as we are that we don't have to be their soldiers.
[ Aurican loves Paladine, but he makes no qualms to the fact while he is a beloved child of Paladine, he is a soldier as well, willing to slay evil wherever he sees.
Wherever he sees. ]
no subject
Fortunate for you, maybe. I'd always heard that metallics were a cowardly lot.
no subject
[ But then, she never will understand.
Chromatics never do. ]
no subject
Her wings half unfurl, but she knows better than to use her favorite exit strategy with this one. Leaping straight toward people that she isn't allowed to kill to make them cringe and duck, only to fly harmlessly overhead, may work well in most cases, but she'd really rather not get a faceful of fire for her efforts. ]
We'll meet again, gold.
[ She's leaping into the air with that, spiking about sharply to wing in the opposite direction. ]
no subject
We shall.
[ He watched her fly away into the darkening sky, her scales blending her into the emerging night. As soon as he can tell she is not going to swoop back ot teleport back for a fight, Aurican leaps and climbs into the air, his scales gleaming by the City's lights like a piece of a sun has fallen from the sky. ]
