[Nill had decided that today was a good day to just walk around the City. It wasn't too hot out, and it gave her an excuse to wear some of the new clothes that Kate had helped her choose. She didn't have any particular destination in mind, but she thought she might stop by a bakery or coffee shop while she was out, just to pick up a snack. Or she could just sit in the park for a little while. In the City, the sights were almost endless--except the places that had been damaged by the "war game," of course. Nill thought she would just avoid those areas as best she could.]

[The day had been a busy one; she'd seen people she hadn't in a while, and made a new friend or two. At least, she liked to tell herself that. But a relaxing few minutes in the park would definitely be a nice way to end such a hectic day.

Two years ago, maybe even one, Nill might have flinched at the sudden approach of a stranger. But after over two years in the City, she was more than capable of not being afraid of every man who walked up to her. Besides, he looked like he was about her age. Nill offered him a smile, and shook her head, scooting over just a bit. White wings flicked behind her back, and she pulled her tote bag on to her lap.]

Wings? I don't suppose you're my guardian angel. [ It's obvious he's making a joke, and he isn't trying to pick her up, either. Friendly small talk. Girls liked that, didn't they? ]

[Nill has grown up enough to tell the difference between flirting and casual conversation. It was clear to her that he was attempting the latter. His joke does make her laugh, if opening her mouth a bit and a little shake going through her body can be called a laugh. No sound comes out, however. She shakes her head; no, she wasn't anyone's angel, except maybe Heine's.]

Heine? [ She wasn't the first mute that he'd encountered, though hopefully with her wings (which stood out on their own), she wouldn't be too spooked by his ability to read her mind. ]

[Well, that was unexpected. Clearly, he could read her mind. That didn't surprise her as much as it would have a few years ago. She gently reaches up to touch the side of her head and smiles at him. Then, Nill offers her hand forward so he can take it, and she can reply.]

[ He complies with her offer, curiosity lighting up his eyes. ]

[His flesh is cold, but it doesn't particularly bother Nill. As soon as their skin touches, he'll hear in his head, in whatever voice he might imagine this small girl to have:]

And what makes you think you are his angel? Have you saved him before?

[But how would he know what a young Bella sounds like. And she laughs silently (there might be a bit of giggling in his mind) and she shakes her head.]

[ He can't see the specifics, but when bad men have a beautiful girl like Nill, bad things tend to happen. ]
