[Nill had decided that today was a good day to just walk around the City. It wasn't too hot out, and it gave her an excuse to wear some of the new clothes that Kate had helped her choose. She didn't have any particular destination in mind, but she thought she might stop by a bakery or coffee shop while she was out, just to pick up a snack. Or she could just sit in the park for a little while. In the City, the sights were almost endless--except the places that had been damaged by the "war game," of course. Nill thought she would just avoid those areas as best she could.]

[ He looks taken aback for a second and then it hits and he looks down uncertainly. ]

Are you sure?

[ He doesn't want to just steal her food from her, that seems kind of rude. Especially if it's not something he's dying to have. ]

[Nill almost rolls her eyes. But maybe he'd take that wrong, so she just nods, her smile growing. Of course she's sure!]

[ It's alright, John's not that easy to offend anyways even if he did take it wrong. And since she's so instant on it he'll reach into the bag and pull out a muffin. ]

Thanks a lot, Nill! So have you had a good day today?

[Nill's way of showing she cares is to feed people, alright. She nods, closing up the bag and pulling it close. Yes, today had been an excellent one so far. She tilts her head to reciprocate; how had his been? She hoped it had been good. John was a nice boy.]

[ He grins at that, and takes a bite out of the muffin, chewing for a moment. It's not bad, actually! Nill has pretty good taste in muffins, and this is a pretty good reintroduction to the world of baked goods. One baby step at a time. ]

Uhm, are you asking about me? I haven't done much today, but it's been pretty good.

[One day she will get him to try all her baked goods. Probably.

She smiles and nods. Yes, she had been asking about him. And it was good to know that he'd been alright. Things in the City hadn't been that great recently, and she was worried for all her friends.]

[ John will reluctantly put up with it too. Saying no to Nill is kind of like punching a puppy in the face, and John doesn't really want to punch a puppy in the face.

He takes another bite of the muffin, chewing slowly as he thinks about things. Yeah, he can't blame her for feeling that way about things that went down in the City, it's been on his mind too. And she looks pretty okay, but... ]

Hey, so... you avoided everything crazy that went on a little while ago, right?

[Well that is very good to know. At the question, she nods, clearly relieved. Kate had made her stay inside the whole time, but their apartment had been far enough from the trouble that it had remained unscathed.]

[ He looks pretty relieved too. He didn't want to hear about any of his friends getting caught up in this mess, even if they were mostly okay now. ]

Good! It would have really sucked if you had. It was already pretty awful as it was.

[She nods, sympathetic. Nill wished there was something she could do to help clean up--but she wasn't strong enough to help move rubble, so her options were pretty limited.]

[ It didn't help that there weren't exactly a lot of places you could move the rubble to anyways unless there was a truck or something from the City to dump it all in the first place.

Also, John hesitates for a moment before asking the next question. ]

No one you know got badly hurt either, did they?

[There's relief on her face as she shakes her head. No, none of her close friends had been hurt. Maybe a bruise or a cut here or there, but nobody had lost a limb or died.]

[ He'll smile a little at that! It's not really happy looking, but he is feeling a lot better than when they first started talking about what happened in the City recently. ]

Good! I am glad to hear that.

[To be honest, as traumatizing as being kidnapped and replaced by a skrull had been, it couldn't even come close to the devastation that had wracked the City over the past few days. She nods; she had been so glad, too. The first few hours after cleanup had begun had been some of the most nerve-wracking of her life.]

[ John was lucky that most of his close friends either lived with him, or lived together in a second house, making them pretty easy to contact after a mess like this. Not that it didn't mean he hadn't worried about a few others he knew as well.

He shifts back and forth from one foot to another, feeling a little bad that he did make this conversation kind of awkward. ]

So uhm... did you need any help with shopping or something today?

[She didn't mind much; Nill was used to awkward. Usually, her very presence inspired it. But she perks up at the question. As a matter of fact, she wouldn't mind company at all! So she nods; if he wasn't busy, sure.]

[ He's pretty much never busy when he's not at school, so there's no worries there. And he's happy to have something to do to distract him for the time being anyways. ]

Great! What do you need help with?

[She reaches to loop her arm with his and gestures with her other hand in the general direction of more stores. She could always pick up something for Kate or Damian, or even John if he saw something he liked.]

[ He'll help, moving his arm a little away from his side to make it easier for her to loop her arm through his. Then he looks down along the line she's indicating to, not sure exactly which one she's pointing to specifically. ]

Uh... sure! Looks good, I will just follow you wherever you need to go, okay?

[Her wings flick behind her back, and she nods before starting down the street. She's walking slowly (only a little taller than John, but she wants to take her time anyway), letting her eyes wander over the shops lazily.]

[ He's keeping an eye out too, though he doesn't really know what Nill is looking for, so he can't actually help out much. He has a feeling that the normal movie and game shows he would go into when by himself aren't really want she's looking for during this outing. ]
