[The new residence of some 70% of the City's spider-themed populace is an unprepossessing little house in Brooklyn. Or not so little, what with six bedrooms and a basement apartment, but it has that down-home vibe to it that Peter hadn't even realized he'd been missing in the MAC until he signed the lease papers.

Peter is the first one to arrive today, since he wanted to unlock all the doors and turn on all the utilities before eight -- no, seven -- teenagers come crashing in. After hauling in the boxes and bags he brought with him in the rental car (which presciently includes two grocery sacks full of snacks: see above note re: teenagers), he retrieves himself a coke and goes out to sit on the front stoop, waiting for everyone else to come swinging in.]

And just so we're clear, Peter's not sharing.]

[ When Miles shows up, he doesn't have much stuff on him. He already managed to squish most of his clothes into his backpack, and apart from that, he's just got a couple other boxes with the stuff he's collected in his month-ish of being in the City. He'll let pretty much anybody talk him into whatever room, both because he's a bit intimidated by a house full of people who have been doing the Spider thing way longer than he has, and because.

Well. It's automatically going to be better than the tiny 3-person dorms at his Charter school, where one of the people doesn't know his secret identity. ]

[In an odd twist of fate, the girl that should be allowed no where near a cooking appliance is stocking up the fridge and cabinets in the kitchen (hey, having a cousin who can teleport all their junk straight into the room has it's advantages) when she catches the mini-spider passing by.]

Hey, did you see a 'kitchen' box anywhere? We are disturbingly silverwearless.

[ Miles stops in his tracks, trying to figure out for a long second which Spider person he's talking to. There are so many of them here. ] --N-no. [ His lips pull down in a frown, though, and he glances around at the chaos of their new house. He's adopted a sort of perpetual state of borderline nervousness about everything. ] Where have you looked already?

[May holds up her hands in the international (not to mention inter-dimensional) sign of 'take it easy' in the face of the nervousness.]

Not too many places. But don't sweat it. It'll turn up eventually...or in one of Peter's experiments.

[ Miles tries to un-hunch his shoulders, brow furrowing. ]

Wait, he does experiments on silverware? [ What did he get himself into here? ]

[ Well, Kitty was there.

She knew almost everyone that was there too, so she was just going to stand around and, you know, do nothing. Just smile a bit.

And look for easy exits. ]

Hey, Kitty! I'm glad you decided to hook up with us. Or maybe you were just tired of the MAC, huh?

[The joke falls flat, because hello awkward. Of all the people Peter's met from the other universe, Kitty is the only one he knew of but didn't really know in his own.]

I'm glad to be here too, it was getting too weird to live alone.

[ She won't comment on it because this is Peter, or some Peter, but anyway, she wants to make nice with him. ]

You're really great for doing this for us all, though.

[He waves a hand dismissively.] Well, I was getting tired of sleeping on my own couch, so this was the next simplest option. The whole "living in Brooklyn" part's a little weird, but hey, a man's gotta keep an open mind, even if he is from Queens.

[ She smiles a little at that. ]

All I hope is that this doesn't get to the point we end up begging for an Aunt May. [ She cuts herself, not sure of how's the deal with his Aunt May. ]

She was...really great when it came to take care of a bunch of superpowered teens.

[He laughs, shaking his head.] I can believe it, even if nothing like that ever happened back home.

'Course, there was that time Doc Ock was a boarder...

She's the strongest woman I have ever known.

[ A confused blink. ] That sounds like a story.

Let's just say that I adore Aunt May from the bottom of my heart, but she has a definite tendency to see a little too much good in some people.

I can relate to that, yes.

I'm just glad I managed to interrupt the wedding. [Yes, he did say that just to see her reaction. And yet it's true!]

[ Le Gasp!

What!? That's a lie and you it.

It's the absolute truth, I swear to God. They met when he took her hostage, and then he was her boarder for a while, and then she inherited an island with a nuclear power plant on it from a distant relative so he hatched a plan...

And I thought the Peter I knew was weird.

Well, he was weird. You're the older, weirder version.

[Sincerely:] Why thank you, Kitty.

[ There's a pillar of smoke and fire. Then, there is Reilly, standing in the middle of it. Looking around desperately for a familiar face. Or at least one that's not staring at him like he's a freak. ]

You're on smoke detector disable duty. Calling it now.

[ Aaaand the alarm starts going off... now. SIGH. ]
