WHERE: Kenzi's room at the MAC
WHEN: Not long after this.
WARNINGS: Uh...drunk shenanigans?
SUMMARY: Kenzi's upset about getting a getting hit with a Double Rainbow charm and Kang's curious to see. Also drinking of good ale.
FORMAT: Prose?

Piccolo had left not too long ago and now Kenzi was rushing around her room in an attempt to make it more presentable. Normally she wasn't the type of girl to do regular house keeping. She figure as long as she could walk around without stepping on something it was fine right?

But then guests would come over and she couldn't really have them tripping over all her junk. And while Piccolo had been an unexpected guest she was expecting Kang.

Her dirty clothes were quickly stuffed into the hamper. Her collection of lifted wallets was shoved under her bed. Dirty dishes were put in the sink, where they should have been to begin with. The empty bottles of various drinks were tossed into a box that would from then on be known as the recycling box. She decided to just stack the pizza boxes up near the recycling box. Were pizza boxes even recyclable? They had cheese and sauce stuck to them but she assumed they were.

She took one more quick look around her room to make sure it was presentable. What she wouldn't give to have a Brownie living with her. Once things were clean enough, in her mind, she flopped on the couch and turned on the TV while she waited.

"Your world has dwarves?" Kang was surprised. "Short, beards, and stubborn as mountains?"

"One that would require a bit of backstory about the creation of my race to properly understand," he shrugged, smiling wryly and flexing his hand slightly. It was strange seeing the scars but being able to move it freely again.

Kenzi frowned as she shrugged. "No faeing clue dude. I've never met one...I mean not like the uh, fantasy dwarves. Technically speaking Trick is of the height that is considered a dwarf by humans. No beard though." She furrowed her brow as she thought about it. "He can be pretty stubborn though."

"Oh. Okay." She nodded slowly. "It'd end up being on of those to be continued kind of stories."

Fantasy. It was odd to Kang that many of the races on his world were thought to be fantasy, or mythical. Dragons, at least, had been thought mythical at one time on Krynn, but not races like elves or minotaurs. "What does that mean, considered a dwarf?"

He shook his head, "Not really. We've only been around for about forty-four years."

"Oh." Well that was kind of interesting she'd have to actually ask more after she got done explaining the whole dwarf thing.

Kenzi took a drink then rubbed at her neck with her free hand. She chewed her bottom lip as she tried to think of how to explain it. "Okay see, a grown human is usually somewhere in the five foot and over range. But some people are born with a mutation, and no not the kind that gives wicked powers, where they don't ever reach that height. More often than not they have certain deformities in their bone structure that makes it easy to tell. But a rare form results in a more perfectly proportioned but much shorter human. The term this mutation is known by is dwarfism."

She took another drink and shifted on the couch. "There's also an opposite form known as giantism...although I have seen some giant ass Fae." Not that it took much to be a giant compared to Kenzi.

"Oh, I see. So they're still human, and not an entirely different race." Kang didn't know anything about genetics, but he did understand the basics of what Kenzi was talking about.

Kenzi nodded and pointed at him. "Bingo! But as far as I know there might actually be dwarves that fall under the Fae umbrella. I've just never met any...I don't think. Kind of hard to keep track of what kinds of a Fae I have and have not met."

Kang smiled, and took a drink of his ale, "You've met a lot of them?"

Kenzi took a drink before nodding. "Yeah. Some are pretty cool. Some are complete jerkoffs." She wrinkled her nose and scowled.

"Sounds just like every other race," Kang snorted. "Some have more of the latter than others."

"True. At least with the Fae it's sometimes easier to know if they're more jerkoff than others. Dark Fae tend to be the biggest assholes ever. While the Light Fae typically nicer. Although depending on their social standing they might even be more of a jerk than the average Dark Fae toward humans." she explained before grumbling, what was more than likely curses, in Russian.

"I'm glad Bo chose to not take a side." She gulped down the rest of her bottle before reaching for another.

Another snort, and Kang sat down on the other end of the couch. "That sounds familiar, too. Is Bo Fae?"

Kenzi stretched before nodding. "Yeah. Succubus. Funny thing is as much as I miss her I haven't slept so damn well in months."

That got Kenzi a curious look. Kang had no idea what a succubus was.

She glanced over and couldn't help but laugh as his expression. "Guess you don't have them in your world?"

She took a long drink before explaining. "See a succubus to most people is a demon. Y'know the kind with horns and spade tipped tail and little batwings. Some have hooves and red skin depending on stories. But in my world a succubus is just another type of Fae that looks human. They feed on sexual energy and have this really sweet ability to control people with just a touch. Which I think is common no matter the story."

She looked over at him and grinned. "Living with one is...interesting. But it doesn't leave me with a good night's sleep most of the time. Because Bo gets loud."

The demons that Kang was familiar with were quite different, but he caught on to what Kenzi was saying about succubi like Bo very quickly, and started laughing, "I can see why you'd sleep better."

"Yeah. It's not cool when part of the ceiling comes down on you." Then again it probably wouldn't have if they had actually finished fixing up their crack shack of a base.

Kenzi took a long drink of her ale and let out a sigh. Time for a new subject before she really started to feel home sick.

"So your kind's only been around about forty years?"

"Forty-four, roughly," Kang nodded, getting another ale and settling down for the questions. It was his turn to start feeling homesick. "We were created to fight in a war."

Kenzi's brow furrowed as she frowned, her gaze turning to the beer in her hand. "That's...kind of terrible. I mean only existing to fight in a war?" She looked back over at him. "I take it there was no choice if that's what you were created for?"

Kang shrugged, pushing down memories of the hatcheries and killing his own brothers and cousins, "We chose to fight. Of course, the few who didn't want to were killed pretty early on, but most of us embraced the cause."

Kenzi shifted uncomfortably before setting her drink on the table. She regretted asking about his kind and suddenly ale wasn't enough.

Without a word she stood and made her way into the kitchen. She pulled a couple of shot glasses from the cabinet before grabbing the vodka from the freezer. After which she returned to her seat and filled both glasses. "You're welcome to the vodka if you want." she said before slamming back one of the shots, leaving the other for him if he wanted it.

"So what's your world like? I'm imaging far fewer cities."

"It's not something I'm all that upset about," Kang frowned slightly, watching her fetch something that was clearly liquor. "It happened, the war's long over, and we've made a place for ourselves. I don't mind answering questions."

He watched as she took the shot and copied it. It wasn't bad at all, leaving behind a pleasant burn that was reminiscent of dwarf spirits without the aftertaste. "Not nearly as advanced as this one. There are more villages than cities, and none even half as large as this one."

"I guess that's uh...good." She poured herself another shot and quickly downed it. At this rate she'd just forgo the shot glass altogether.

"I just...the whole fate thing is stupid. I've always been a firm believe of making your own choices and fuck whatever plans other people have made for you." And another shot down.

"Hm...I think I'd go crazy in a place like that. Especially if there's no pizza."

Kang smiled, "I knew I liked you for a reason, Kenzi. "Everyone has the right to achieve their own destiny." A human friend of mine told me that once."

Laughing, he poured another shot for himself. "It's not that bad, really. There isn't as much convenience, but we appreciate what we do have, and don't take things for granted."

She grinned at him before pouring another shot, although she didn't down it right away. "They do. Although apparently if a banshee wails for you there's not getting out of that. ...No matter how hard you try." She frowned. She had really liked that guy. He'd lived such a careful life and helping him break out during his last hours on earth had been great.

She gave a slow nod before finally downing her drink. "Yeah, sounds like the kind of place I'd go insane in. Suppose I'm thankful that this place didn't turn out to be something like that. Instead it's closer to home..." Minus her friends.

"You know someone it happened to, don't you? What happens if a banshee wails for you?" Kang had picked up on that frown.

He made a quiet noise. "I'm entirely lost here. Almost nothing works the way I'm used to, I'm so far behind I don't even know things that children here do, and I'm not even stuck here with people from my world I know or like. No, it's a black dragon, a br- another lord-governor of a nation like me, and someone else that the black dragon seems particularly gleeful about me meeting, for reasons I can only assume aren't good." He muttered a few curses in Nerakese, taking another shot. If only he could at least have his mate with him to help deal with it all and talk to.
