There was nothing quite like a night on the town. The bright lights on the streets so far below, the wind through her hair as she swung between buildings, the sounds of late-night-early-morning traffic , and the ocassional girly screams of would-be muggers having their arms twisted by a chick in a black and purple cape.

Yes, this was the life. One of them, anyway.

[ If she changed into her civilian clothes she could have made herself some waffles for a snack, but as it is she has to settle for a protein bar. Stephanie Brown has waffle powers, Batgirl does not. And that’s fine, really, all that sugar would probably make her sick anyway and there are hours yet until sunrise. ]

[Bucky has a trouble with sleeping some nights— alright, most nights. Especially lately. And when he had trouble sleeping, he took a walk. Sometimes he took a ride, you could go just about anywhere for a couple of coins, here, and it seemed like a bit of a waste if you didn't get going sometimes. At least, that's what he told himself, to cover his restlessness. But walking around hadn't gotten old yet.

He didn't wear a costume, because it felt weird to wear one without Steve around. He wasn't looking for a fight, but he found one often enough anyway, City being what it was. One thing he'd never, ever run into, though: a lady mask-type eating what looked, from his squinty-distance, like a candy bar. So, he was gonna be all gallant, or swing for it, at least.]

Does it taste good?

[He says this from far away, at street level, so he's halfway shouting.]

[ At first she thinks he couldn't possibly be talking to her. But when she peers over the edge to where the voice came from, he was definitely looking straight at her.

Well, that was new. ]

I've had better? [ She's experimenting with brands. Protein bars seem to have no lower quality limit, so it's hit or miss. ]

Did you, uh, need something?

[Well no, he was just being a smartass, and now that she's asked, it's making him rethink himself.]

If I tell you my car's broke down, will you help fix it?

[Bucky did not really get the point of patrolling. Back in his day, &c. He always had missions handed to him, he never had to go out to find them.]

I could try, but I'd probably just make it worse.

[ She shrugs. Mechanics are totally beyond her, otherwise she might have been able to hold on to her moped a bit longer. ]

You know that's what they make phones for, right?

I don't got a phone on me. [Bucky knew cellphones existed, but it was another thing for him to buy one.]

[ She points across the street to a pay phone. ]

Maybe it's time to invest. I'd offer to give you a ride but I don't fly. [ So, you know, she'd just be walking him home and that would be weird. ]

Oh, I don't actually— I don't have a car. This is New York.

I just didn't know if you would. We don't have people stalking about in costumes, where I'm from. Not like this.

No? Well then, welcome to the City. [ She kicks her legs out over the edge of the roof and glances towards some of the nearby shadows. ]

Most Bats aren't as talkative as I am, though. So consider this a special occasion.

I know. I met Batwoman.

[ichoosefight]

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say "met" is probably a strong word, there.

[He shrugs.] We fought Nazi vampires.

[Bucky broke his leg it was embarrassing.]

Somehow that seems worse than just regular old vampires.

I never get to fight any other kind.

You fight Nazi vampires a lot?

[deadthenred]

Nah, not a lot, I— [he has to stop a second, like he's counting this up in his head] I fight Nazi vampires on occasion.

I didn't realize vampires had such pressing political agendas. [ But then the only vampires she's fought were all holographic representations of a manically depressed Dracula. ]

[deadthenred]

They were Nazis before they were vampires. Hitler's real sweet on the stuff you're s'posed to find in the Poverty Row pictures.

I've heard that. [ She thinks. Probably. Whatever 'Poverty Row Pictures' are, she can guess the connection to vampires. ]

They still around, or is this one of those time travel things?

[deadthenred]

There's a guy here who kept bringing 'em back. Wore a swastika and the whole bit.

[And though he's generally a cheery-seeming guy, some part of him seems drained when he talks about this.]

He's dead now. He hasn't come back.

Well that's lucky anyway.

[ She can tell it's bothering him, mostly because she's talked to him in civilian clothes before. But that's also the reason she hasn't gotten any closer to him. ]

You ever need a hand, I've never fought Nazi's before but I've staked a few vampires in my time. [ 24, subtracting the ones Kara got. ]

Well. I kinda hope they don't come back, if that's alright with you.

[ Hey maybe she should take a minute to pretend she's never actually met him. ]

I'm Batgirl. You got a name?

It's Bucky.

But maybe I should change it to Bat-Bucky to fit in better.

It'd probably piss off one of the birds. [ She pauses for dramatic affect... ]
