SUMMARY: Max Lord introduces the newest member of the Avengers to the team: Black Panther! Everyone, get to know each other, this is for mingling of all sorts.
FORMAT: Quick.


[ It's not exactly a meeting; they can discuss pertinent issues (as always, Max has a whole agenda of topics to bring to the table) another time, because today, what Max wants to talk to the Avengers about is short and sweet. It's something to celebrate! Within their brand new Headquarters Max Lord stood in a brown suit and a checkered tie, a table laid out with food and drinks running the length of the wall to his side. ]

Now, I know we have a lot of Avengers business to discuss, especially since some of us were gone for most of the month. But that's not what we're here today for. But of course if you want to talk shop later I won't stop you.

I'd like to present you all with the newest addition to our team: please welcome Black Panther to the Avengers. I think we can all agree we had a few [ Er. ] holes to fill... and this is our guy. In fact, I think a few of you know each other already.

Max, that's awful. That's a line I might have come up with, that's how bad it is.

[ Looks at the ceiling. ]

Okay, so I'm not a comedian. [ He blows a little smoke from his mouth. ] I was just thinking about the future. We have a lot ahead of us and not much time to plan. Nothing I'd shoulder you all with today, however.

[Spidey's nose crinkles under his mask. He's not that fond of the fumes, though at least Max seems to smoke a better brand of cigar than J. Jonah Jameson-- no surprises there.]

I thought talking about that kind of stuff was part of why we're here today. Not that I object to good food, good company and shooting the breeze, but it's not like we don't pretty much do that stuff all the time anyway.

[retconman]

The objective was primarily to introduce our new teammate; I didn't want to distract everyone's focus. [ He pauses and raises his eyebrow. ] Did you want to discuss something?

Well, Hank and I were bouncing something back and forth -- but, nah, it's kind of a downer. No reason it can't wait.

[retconman]

You can tell me. I'll have to deal it sooner or later anyway. It may as well be now.

[incywincyhero]

[Again, drawing it out this time...] Well... We were talking about what happened to Bob. The Sentry, I mean. And how it's really hard to figure out what the boundaries are when your friends or teammates are hurting, especially if you don't have any training in that kinda thing.

[retconman]

[ He rubs his chin. ]

Maybe we could benefit from a little on-site counseling. A third party might help get the ball rolling more than relying on each other's own judgement.

Yeah, maybe. Although... do we have any imPort shrinks who aren't tied up with NoHOPE?

[retconman]

None that advertise. I'm sure there are some competent native psychologists that would take the job on.

There is that. Though, don't call me anti-native or anything, 'cause I'm not, but... speaking from experience, knowing about superpowers and what people with superpowers go through intellectually isn't the same thing as living it.

[retconman]

We have to start somewhere. I'd offer myself, but I don't think I've earned anyone's trust that strongly yet. [ Pause. ] Plus I'm no doctor.

Yeah, I think not having people with training around is exactly what gets us into these messes. [He's not unfriendly about it, though.]

[retconman]

Hence why a non-Import may be our only choice to begin with. That's assuming this is enough of a priority.

Isn't part of the problem that it's never really a priority until after disaster strikes?

[retconman]

By the sound of it, yes. So let's fix that and start shopping around, shall we?

[incywincyhero]

Wait, am I supposed to be helping? Most of the psychiatrists I've known have been supervillains.

[retconman]

I assumed everyone would want a little say.

[incywincyhero]

Sure, but I'm probably not one of the guys you want running job interviews, let's just say.

[retconman]

You can relax. I would be handling all the heavy weight anyway.

[incywincyhero]

Well... in that case, maybe. But no supervillain candidates, okay? I mean it.

[retconman]

I promise. Trust me, I know some of the supervillian "psychologists" around here. I'd have to be insane myself to think of hiring them.

[incywincyhero]

I'd say it's a wonder any of them got hired, but look at whose name is on the hospital.

[retconman]

Oh -- do I want to ask?

[Headtilt.] What, haven't heard the scuttlebutt about Norman Osborn? He's bad news, as I can say from all too personal experience.
