True. Could you imagine falling asleep on the bus? [She looks horrified for a moment.]

Oh no, wouldn't that be disastrous?

[ he still understands buses to be wild animals you have to catch that run in schedules and take people places so YES THAT'S HORRIFYING. ]

[dogwitch]

It would be if you had no way to get back after you woke up. Could you just imagine? You fall asleep on the bus on one side of the city and wake up on the other side of the state?

Wow, yes, that would be a really bad situation to be in, definitely. It would probably take a long time to get back, unless I guess if the buses weren't being particularly unruly.

[dogwitch]

[She blinks at him.] Unruly?

[uhhh]

[ a nod. ]

Unruly, like maybe refusing to transport you places because they're tired, or something like that.

[dogwitch]

...Buses aren't living beasts. They're machines and they're run by people. Although they do kind of do that, the whole refusing to transport. They only run on schedules because the drivers have to sleep.

[She gives a laugh and reaches over to pat Tavros' shoulder.]

Did you try talking to them?

[uhhh]

Yes! [ he's so embarrassed, his face actually goes into his hands. ] I thought it was weird because they weren't, answering me!

[dogwitch]

[She can't help but laugh.] I'm sorry...I shouldn't laugh. You didn't know but still, it's kind of funny.

[uhhh]

[ give him a few more seconds to hide and get over it the humiliation before he emerges, still grimacing. but there's a weak smile mixed in there somewhere, too. ]

I guess, as far as cultural misunderstandings go, it's not such a bad one.

[dogwitch]

[Jade nods.]

Exactly! So it's not a big deal and now you know. Buses and cars and all those things on the road that move on wheels are machines.

[uhhh]

That's, what I thought, but then I talked to someone—uh, Stephanie?—who talked about them, like they might be some kind of a cattle creature. Possibly a hoofbeast, I thought, because of the transportation thing.

[ yeah the entire rest of his drink is gone in one last big gulp. ]

[dogwitch]

[Jade snickers and shakes her head.] I'm going to take a guess here but she was probably just messing with you.

[uhhh]

Maybe. She was, pretty helpful and offered to show me some places and things, so, I thought she was nice.

[dogwitch]

Nice people can still play jokes. [She laughs.]

[uhhh]

That's true.

[ he manages to get over it enough to grin a little. ]

[dogwitch]

[Jade smiles at him before finishing off her drink.]

Do you want another?

[uhhh]

I kind of, would, yeah. If you don't think it's a bad idea.

[ he's trying to play it safe. ]

[dogwitch]

[She looks at the empty glasses then back over at the bar before looking up at Tav.]

Well, how do you feel? Feeling anything weird? Because if not one more couldn't hurt. [At least she didn't think so.]

[uhhh]

I don't feel weird.

[ which will ultimately lead to his undoing, later in the night. "don't feel it, don't feel it, don't feel it, oh crap I'm wasted." but for now, he's as oblivious as can be. ]

[dogwitch]

[Yup, it's a horrible thing to base it on and Jade probably should have done some reading on what being drunk would feel like so she had a better idea. But she didn't. Oops. Thing were probably going to get messy.]

Then I'll get us a another round. [She rises to get them more drinks and isn't gone long. She hands Tavros another of the same drink from before then settles back on the couch.]

[uhhh]

[ he thanks her and tries to take this one a little slower just to make it last, which is quite hard because it's so yummy.

but he can start by making some more conversation. because really, between getting to talk to Jade one-on-one in person and having a nice drink, the better choice is just too obvious. ]

So did you, do much dancing yet? I guess that's kind of the important thing that people are supposed to do here.
