It was a beautiful city, green and lush. Morning mist locked fingers with older stone and quiet brick. Much of the populace lulled in the valley between two solid growths of mountains, cushioned in an ancient palm and electrified by the lively pulse of the crisp, rain-courted air. The temperature is brisk, chilly, but that shouldn't discourage you from enjoying the lakes and rivers breathing through the land. The city itself is equally crisp and its usually pristine avenues are ablaze with color; banners and posters and warm hellos. There was warmth everywhere, in homes and faces and hands.

Welcome to Mérida, Hero.

[She chortles softly as she sort of sashays around Kate. It's not quite a dance, but it is somewhat elegant.]

And what's a trip to South America without a little music and dancing?

[Helena's own stated reason for visiting is to explore Wayne Enterprise's business options in the country, though it all seems a little anti-capitalist for her taste.]

I don't think the music's stopped since we landed. [ Not that she's complaining much here. The energy's great, as are the locals so far.

It's really throwing her off. Maybe there's nothing sinister at work here. ]

It's part of the charm, perhaps.

[It certainly hasn't set off any alarm bells for Ms. Wayne. She isn't the most knowledgeable when it comes to the customs of Venezuela, so she's just assuming it must always be like this in touristy areas like this.]

And the scenery is to die for!

Are you on vacation or is Wayne Enterprises looking to expand here?

[amiga]

We're always looking to expand the business, and there's no denying the government here has been incredibly welcoming. [She pauses, no longer swaying either.] But this trip is strictly for me.

[gevurah]

You came all by yourself, then?

[amiga]

I did. [She smiles.] Though I met up with Damian and Charlie once we landed.

[gevurah]

Damian. [ A slight frown. ] Don't tell me he came here by himself.

[ Aren't kids not allowed to fly alone anyway? ]

[amiga]

My brother does most things by himself these days.

[Even their week spent with their ages reversed hadn't changed the nature of their relationship that much.]

[gevurah]

Still not looking any better?

[ She's slightly surprised, having felt maybe Damian would have warmed to family by now. ]

[amiga]

Between you and me? [She nods.] Something happened with us while I was a child. I can't say what that change was exactly, but things are better.

[gevurah]

[ Kate's movements cease entirely from then on. She arches an eyebrow. ]

You were affected then. [ A beat. ] Was Damian...?

[amiga]

Yes. So was he. [A faint smile passes over her for just a second.] If the man I met then is any indication of the man he will become, I am very proud to call him my brother.

[gevurah]

[ Proud? She doubts Helena would use that word without careful thought. ]

Does he lose the temper, at least?

[amiga]

He managed to temper it when necessary. But Damian is still Damian. Some things never really change.

[gevurah]

I'd like to believe it's a phase. [ Ah, well. ] Were you okay during that... week?

[amiga]

I was just fine. I'd hazard to say I couldn't have been better cared for if my own parents were the ones doing it.

[gevurah]

I'm almost sorry I missed that. [ Call her curious; a grown up Damian Wayne. ]

Did you have your memories?

[amiga]

No. I only had my memories of my mother and father and home. It wasn't a very pleasant experience at first.

[gevurah]

[ She nods. ]

Neither did I. I was lucky enough to have run into someone who still had hers.

[amiga]

That's a lucky break. Who did you end up staying with?

[gevurah]

I ran into Felicia first. Nill was older... but she came by to get me.

[amiga]

I'm glad you were safe, Kate. [Slowly, Helena begins to sway to the music.] I don't know what I'd do without your friendship.

[gevurah]

[ She pauses, both touched and confused by Helena's comment. ]

You're strong. [ Kate can sense it. ] You'd be fine.

[amiga]

[Helena smiles, but she isn't so sure. It's confusing, wanting to be alone but hating the actual loneliness of it.]

Well then. [She glances back to the spectators.] I'm parched. Would you care for something?
