i reach out to touch you:
WHO: ImPorts in Venezuela
WHERE: Mérida, Venezuela
WHEN: October 19th 10AM to October 20th 10AM.
WARNINGS: Strong language is likely. Potential violence.
SUMMARY: Welcome to the twenty-four hour masquerade! Refreshments will be flowing throughout the hours, and while entertainment is provided (both musical and theatrical), don't let that deter you from inventing your own mischief. Remember, there's only one rule: while at the masquerade, you cannot remove your mask!
As the levity hits its high notes, however, beware the dark figures scheming in the shadows, those poisoners with swift hands. By 12AM October 20th, the imPort-only virus will be exposed and infecting the masqueraders first, before spreading outwards.
FORMAT: Whatever you'd like.
Masks of all counterfeits paid tribute to the color spectrum that soon poured out into the confetti-strewn streets that morning. The flood of spectacle drowned away any groans of the mundane, and once ten o'clock stuck then did intrigue ascend to the hazy plateau of status quo. Bodies moved like whispers against each other, some seeking friends, while others hoped to fool foes. The air sung with sticky excitement: mischief was welcomed here, as long as you did it honestly. As long as you wore your face over your mask.

We need to force them to fucking calm down, any way we can.

Right about now, he had bigger fucking fish to fry. He had a slack-jawed surprise for Max instead, eyes wide like he knew that was bad, before there was a pop somewhere off to the side. A sound system, and then a screech, low at first, but building in pitch and volume. The flow of blood from his ears tickled against his skin. ]
Motherfucker. We have a legion of panicking fucking imports, and no way to get them under control!
no subject
Right. That's the situation! [ He exhaled, sharply. ] Obviously engineered specifically to be out of our grasp.
no subject
He had suspicions, but he didn't voice them. There was no good in voicing them, it only sowed more problems, and there was too much noise for him to think clearly. ]
no subject
[ Max shook his head, trying to breathe slowly. ]
I can't even think straight. Too much commotion going on.
no subject
There's too much shit out here, we're not going to get any leads in the middle of this bullshit.
no subject
I forgot to mention, your bodyguard is looking for you.
no subject
Of course he is. [ There's a violent flicker, and he winces, trying to get a grip on things. ] He's a little slow, he'll catch up eventually. What do we have to do, Max? You had an idea.
no subject
no subject
I have an idea, be ready.
no subject
[ Max's gaze settled on Mitch again, finally, and he inhaled slowly, putting his arms up. ]
We aren't going to fight our way out, are we?
no subject
IT'S 650° RIGHT NOW. DO YOUR FUCKING JOB.
[ Water poured first, but with his powers so out of control, the lights in the line to the nearest exist started to burst, sending a shower of sparks. The crowd parted like the red sea, either to get out of the water, or the shower of glass that rained down. ]
Come on. Before any of them think it's a good idea to dance in the goddamn rain.
no subject
All right, I'm right behind you.

The power surrounding the hazard warnings and power shut off, leaving the whole thing dead. The words "SALIDA" died, a shower of sparks lighting around it, but they died off before they were close. ]
LET US OUT. [ He told it, before he pressed for the door to open, thankfully not letting off any alarms. ]
no subject
Nifty little power you have there.
no subject
His lips turned down at the comment. ] Hm? Not right now it fucking isn't.
[ His voice was strained. Logically, being outside made no difference in how far he could hear, and it really wasn't different, but without a direction to point his perception, it spread further and further. Maybe it was his imagination, but he felt like with every heartbeat, it was getting worse. ]

His voice was his power, but he couldn't do anything with it if people weren't willing to listen. He needed calm, and that was the fucking rub. He knew if anyone could do it, it was Lord, but Lord wasn't biting, so either he couldn't, or it was the virus. ]
Shit, right now, I'd rather be able to talk people out of panicking.
no subject
[ Max had settled down slightly, distracting his mind now with the repetitive and compulsive motions of drying his jacket and tie. He tried to clear his mind again enough to recognize what feelings were rational and what was not. He'd gotten caught up, before. Sloppy. He needed to be aware. ]
no subject
That means we're in trouble. If it's one or the other, we're not going to have immediate options for getting this taken care of. We need something immediate.
no subject
[ He shakes his head, rubbing the back of his neck until it stings. ]
no subject
Hell, I'd prefer to be knocked unconscious if I didn't have to hear this. It's not fucking normal, I don't know about you, but I'm not going to be able to be in control of my powers for long. I'm barely hanging on as it is, and there are people in there with worse powers than mine!
no subject
no subject
Yeah, maybe if I hold my breath, I'll pass out before anything goes wrong. And then you can keep the jackals off my body, right? [ He waves a hand, not caring that there weren't jackals in South America ]
We'll find a solution.
