[Ned was a far cry from his childhood self, one who once regarded his dad as the most magical man in the universe; one he had modeled himself after right up until his mother's untimely death and then, death again, forever. Ned blinked, opening the heavy door to the rooftop for Zatanna. What they were about to do was strange, and dangerous, and awkward, though it held a degree of familiarity being that he had done it once before. Admittedly, with his own girlfriend and not--another man's. Another man who just happened to be a terrifying and until previously fictional international super spy.

Swallowing deeply, he gestured to the poor, dead hives. He had killed them in record time. Not exactly on purpose, but he could admit to himself there was a heavy amount of neglect. It probably made him a bad person, but there was a coincidental waterbug infestation that just such a thing might take care of--again. Perhaps his honey would even be ready in time for Thanksgiving. Or at the very least, Christmas.]

Maybe we should just get this over with. [He started stripping off his clothes, cursing himself when he was shirtless. It was really cold on this rooftop at night in the middle of November. Genius, Ned, just. Genius.] I'm sorry I had to ask this of you but Jack is in the hospital and--probably wouldn't do this anyway.

Sorry! [he snaps, closing his mouth just in time for the last few bees to buzz away. He watches them with a light smile before a thousand waterbugs fall, dead, out of the drain pipe. His attention moves too them but he holds back a comment in case Zatanna has more instructions for him.]

[She has to wonder if he has any idea what he's doing. It seems like he's waiting for her to tell him what to do? And it's not like she even has the vaguest idea. All she knows is that Ned... undeads things. At least she can protect him, if it becomes necessary. Probably.]

[He coughs, once, his lungs starting to grow tight in his chest. Slowly, he collects his clothes and gets them back on on his way back to the door. Ned holds it open for her,] Stick around for some cocoa?

[She usually doesn't find herself befuddled, but befuddled she is. She stares at him for a god, long moment before silently entering with a slight incline of the head as an offering of thanks. She walks half a flight of stairs before she answers.]

Sure, why not?

Oh, good. Cocoa just isn't cocoa unless it's among friends. [He follows after her with a light grin on his face. He now had bees for the honey harvest. Bees that could never die. Bees that would make honey for Chuck's cup-pies even without her being here. It was almost as good. And he hadn't even been scared... really.]

Well, it is. Just not as good. [It's perfect, actually. She has been putting that wall back up around herself lately and a small, sweet moment like this was enough to start chipping it back down again. It's nice.]

Do you take yours with or without mini marshmallows? [He rushed down the last few steps, passing her on his way to the kitchen.]
