WHERE: Coney Island Boardwalk and around the City!
WHEN: December 29, 1PM until January 1st, midnight.
WARNINGS: Naked people, animals, probably a lot of cursing.
SUMMARY: It's all fun and games until someone turns into a polar bear.

this post is meant to cover the day of the swim itself and subsequent days after! there will be threads for the swimming/mingling; feel free to start closed/open threads for the following days, or start logs on the main comm, whatever floats your boat! indicate if threads are closed or open and i'll keep them organized on the main post. o/

[ "I..." she falters, trying to find the words. "God, I don't know. Has this ever happened before?" ]

[It took a moment for him to get over to them but the reply did come as Bight stepped over toward the two who had called, he'd understood them perfectly.]

Most can't, I however, can. My apologies for the delay, chaos still abounds.

[He comments with a wry look to the others about before looking to the two at hand.]

Remaining calm would be a start, I've not seen such an occurrence in my time here, however I have known of magic that has the ability to shift ones form back home.

[ Wally lets out a low sort of moaning noise. At this point he's just trying to see what sorts of sounds he can make.

"I'm calm! For a whatever-the-heck I'm really calm."

He flops his ~~arms~~ flippers about to prove how incredibly calm he is.

"I'd like to be calm and human." ]

[ Kate looks to Bight and then the recently turned elephant seal.

"I assume it's magic that did this. The last time anyone was changed someone used a spell against us." Klarion the Witch-Boy or whatever he called himself. ]

Good, the human part may still require some work however.

[Bight nodded thoughtfully, taking a moment to look over the two of them.]

I do recall as much. If so however it is hard to determine just what manner of magic is at hand.

I will attempt to dispel the change if it is within my power to, unless you have any objections.

[ "Go for it!"

In his excitement, he flops in front of the strange man. His nose flops too. ]

[ Not like they have much of a choice, she thinks to herself. She doesn't want to think of how she'll spend her time as a wolf if this lasts more than a day.

"No objections here." ]

Very well then.

Let us see if we can't turn you both back then.

[He dips his head, taking a moment longer trying to sense whatever magic or effect. Drawing on his power as he chants in draconic, weaving a spell in an attempt to dispel the magic, if that's what it was, that had changed the the swimmers.

Gesturing to the two he released the spell across them both, observing the result or lack there of for a moment before casting once more, this time focused on the seal before him to similar results. Trying to observe any changes at all to what held them in their forms.]

It appears unfortunately, that what ever changed you both is resistant to disruption and dispelling.

[ Wally closes his eyes while the stranger does his work. In a minute he'll open his eyes and be normal again and then he can go home and curl up under a blanket with some hot cocoa and a bag of marshmallows. Or maybe a peppermint mocha with whipped cream. Mmmm, peppermint mochas.

He opens his eyes and croaks questioningly. "Did it work?"

The sound of his own voice is answer enough and he rolls onto his back and moans.

"Maaaaaaan!" ]

[ Kate watches as long as she can, hopeful that this is going to work. When it ultimately fails, her exasperated grown escapes her as a low and displeased growl. Damn wolf biology.

"What about the water? Is that the source?"

Not that jumping back in had done anything to change her back. But maybe the answer lies somewhere underneath its waves. ]

Unfortunately not.

[Bight gave a thoughtful look out to the water where the majority of the swimmers had been changed. He couldn't sense anything different as to the water but then, it may be further out.

Taking a few steps closer to the shore he crouched down to more closely inspect it. Shaking his head after a moment he turned back to the two.]

While it's clear that whatever caused the change occurred out there, there doesn't seem to be anything different, no traces of magic or otherwise in the water here at shore however.

It is possible that whatever caused this has dissipated or is further out, that would require further study.

[ "So what do we do now?"

He looks at the man past his giant nose with some difficulty. It's particularly unwieldy upside-down. ]

[ "Hopefully no one's about to call animal control," she snorts, though it comes out as more of a growl. She trots over closer to the water, refraining from stepping into it.

"There was a pull. Like something grabbed my leg and forced me down." ]

I intend to study possible causes and look for a solution, for the moment perhaps try to avoid the public for the most part. The change may well only last a short time, such events usually have, but it is hard to say for sure.

[He gave a thoughtful look then a half amused snort of his own at the wolf's comment, glancing to the other animals about then to the wolf in question]

I would doubt it, they would have some..difficulty even if so.

Indeed? Interesting...whatever pulled you down was likely the cause of the change.

Did you too have a similar sensation? I myself didn't, nor any such pull in the water itself, likely out of its area of influence.

[Giving a look to the seal at the question as he thought on that little piece of information.]

[ "Maybe." He rolls back over onto his stomach.

"Might have just been the blubber." ]

[ She would roll her eyes if she could. Instead she begins to trot with all four paws to wherever she's been keeping her bag. Although she's wet, she doesn't really feel the water breach her fur (fur...) and touch her skin. Guess there's an upside to some of this.

"There are probably other magic users you can contact for help," she says to Bight. ]

I'll take that as a yes.

[He comments wryly at that before nodding to the wolf's comment]

I shall see if any of the others know of anything that may be of assistance.

[ "Hey man, thanks!" It comes out, of course, as a rather threatening series of odd, trumpeting croaks. "If you figure anything out, come find me!" ]

[ "Thank you," she says, going over to her bag and starting to tug rather lamely on the zipper to get it open. ]

[Bight dips his head to them both.]

You are welcome, I will let you know if I find anything that will help.

[He gives a look to the bag in question and the other assorted belongings still left by the changed individuals]

Should you need somewhere to place anything you cannot otherwise carry I can hold onto them, or deliver them to city hall or another location should you wish it.

Should either of you need a place to rest at any point during the change, I have a warehouse in an out of the way place by the water front.
