SUMMARY: Kenzi is out shopping for Kang's hatching day party and runs into Gil, possibly literally.
FORMAT: Quick

[It's just a few days until Kang's party and Kenzi wants everything to be perfect. She almost has everything needed but there's still a few more things to get. So she's out doing that. She's not paying much attention to the cart she's pushing as she pours over the shelf. Food stuff isn't a big issue for the party, same with alcohol, but she did want some decorations.]

Hmm, Tiki lights are always a must... [She muses as she moves along, eyes focused on the shelf and not where her cart is going.]

[ He falls into step with her quite easily; being tall has its advantages. ]

Solar? Do you mean the sun?

Yup. I don't think those are too common though. Still experimental or something. [She shrugs. Once outside she glances around for a cab before starting to walk.]

There are cars you, like, plug in for electricity and can run off that charge. But I don't think any that run on just straight electricity exist, only hybrid. Meaning they also use gas.

What are solar... cars like, then? [ What does the sun have to do with cars? He looks around for a cab as well, not yet spotting one. ]

I'm not really sure how they work. I guess they have solar panels on them which collect sunlight and turn it into energy for the car to use?

Solar panels? [ Yeah, this is beyond him. He shakes his head. ] How does that work? Energy from sunlight.

[Kenzi shrugs.] You'd be better off asking a sciency person that. All I know is light is energy just has to be turned into energy we can use. Like the wind can also be used for energy. Again, I dunno how it works but it does.

Maybe one of Sue's books she left at the house explains it. [ She was a scientist and all. He hasn't read through many of those things because they use terms he's never heard of before.

A taxi comes turning from another block and he catches it quickly. ] Taxi! [ He lifts his arm to beckon the driver. ]

Maybe. [Once the taxi pulls over and they're both in Kenzi gives the driver their destination.]

So she left a lot of science books, huh?

[ This time he pointedly avoids the cab driver's gaze. His accent catches attention from many, but he knows his eyes are seen as unusual in this world. ]

Many, yes. [ All of that for him. He still can't believe it. ] She was a scientist herself.

Yeah, I think you mentioned that. Just thought, y'know, even scientist would have some books that aren't science related around. [People need to get over Gil's unusual eyes. Kenzi thinks they're awesome.]

I think there are, but I haven't really taken the time to look over them all in detail. I put them back onto the shelves.

You don't even think about reading any? [She squints at him. How could any resist looking through the books someone else owns and possibly reading some?]

Sometimes, but I haven't had the time always.

Not even, like, right before falling asleep? Read a few pages and pass out?

I have my own books and sometimes I'll read the paper.

Oh. [She glances out the window to gauge how far they are. Although with the after work crowd combined with the Friday night crowd now out and about the haven't gone far.]

[ He looks at her, curious. ] Why?

[She shrugs.] Curious. What kinda books do you read anyway?

Cookbooks and adventure novels. I don't get to read as much as I would like to here. [ Since there's always something to pull him away. ]

[The cookbooks she expected but adventure novels? She blinks at him.] Really? Adventure books? Didn't really expect that from you.

What? [ Now he's flustered by that remark. ] The most popular novel series back home is Holy Knight.

What? I just always took you for the type to read something more boring.

[She gives a little laugh.] Holy Knight sounds like it'd be a boring book.

It's not a boring book. Adventure novels are not boring. [ That's the whole point. ]

Depends on the adventure and the characters.

They're popular for a reason. [ Hmph!

The car begins to slow down, finally reaching its destination. ]
