[ Felicia usually dresses not to grab attention -- too much, anyway -- but at night it feels more appropriate to dress up slightly; she sits at the bar in a black and white striped dress with a black coat, buffing her nails idly with a file as she waits for Kate.

It's been a while since they've really ever done anything, or spent time alone together. Felicia meant it when she said she was starting to feel crazy, not getting out much. ]

Sorry to hear it. Maybe. I think hanging out can be overrated in large doses.

Really? [ She seems surprised. ] I always liked going clubbing every weekend back home. Gotham's party scene is pretty famous. [ And infamous. ]

I don't mind some parties. [ Ones full of rich industry moguls she can rob or con... ] In New York you have to know just what kind of good time you're looking for. Plenty of ways to have fun with or without company.

[gevurah]

You do know how to flatter someone. [ Kate sometimes is surprised she has a good friend or two at all.

In all honesty, she's glad for Felicia's friendship. She didn't feel burdened or exhausted by her ever. It's some kind of wonder that Felicia hasn't upset Kate in some way.

Maybe when she and Eddie had split for a while, but it wasn't enough for Kate to hold any sort of grudge, despite her intense dislike for the man. ]

It pays to be charming.

[ She looks over at Kate, smiling. As difficult as it is to think about, Kate is one of Felicia's better friends as well. Maybe the only one she's really close to in any way. ]

When it's worth it.

[gevurah]

[ She tries to tone it down herself, just to be fair to Helena. She sort of misses her right now. ]

Good ability to have when you're tossed into another world.

Mm. Sure. Too bad it hasn't taken me back yet. I think I'm the only person left who's never been back even once.

I don't know if that's good or bad anyway.

[gevurah]

Do you miss it?

[acrossyourpath]

Sometimes.

I don't think about it too much.

[gevurah]

[ She looks over at Felicia, uncertain if she believes her. ]

I don't think I would want to be stuck here forever.

[acrossyourpath]

I don't either. And I don't know if we will be.

[ She shrugs a shoulder slowly. ]

I'd just rather not wasting my time expecting something.

[gevurah]

[ Part of her wishes she could shut off that part of her brain. ]

You're right. We would only drive ourselves nuts.

[acrossyourpath]

[ She nods, brushing some hair from her face. ]

Unfortunately. It'll happen when it happens, luckily. Think of the lack of warning as a sign there's always a chance.

[gevurah]

[ She hums, amused for a moment and her gaze drifts to the city itself. ]

[ She smiles a little. ]

Do you like it here? At all?

[gevurah]

Loaded question. [ She starts with a sheepish, quiet laugh which is followed by a small sigh.

It's difficult to put into words. She feels trapped here and at war with things that are out of her league. Dealing even with those amateurish Phantasm members is sucking the life out of her.

Everything feels harder here. Accomplishing something doesn't come so easy. ]

It's the people that make it. Anywhere you go, right? [ What good is being in Paris or Rome if there's no one with you? ]

Porter just had bad timing bringing me here.

[acrossyourpath]

Right. And no matter where you go life usually won't be easy. The problem is starting over.

Sometimes again and again.

[ She sighs, leaning her head to one side. ]

Nice to know we aren't wasting our lives here, though.

[gevurah]

[ She looks to Felicia and wonders about her father and if she was alluding to that. ]

There would be a lot more complaining on the Network if that was the case.

I can just imagine. It's tolerable because it's not at the expense of anything. Not really.

Besides convenience and comfort, but anyone can live with that.

[gevurah]

I do miss living downtown. [ Kate is spoiled and misses it a lot. ] And my 007 DVDs and books.

[ With a slight laugh: ]

Comfort. [ She nods. ] Who wouldn't miss having money?

[gevurah]

Very few people, probably.

It's not bad, though, showing kids the ropes in gymnastics. Plus I get exercise out of it. [ More of it anyway. ]

Sounds fun. I think I'd get too impatient, teaching. I'm not much of a kid person.

[ She cocks her head, biting the corner of her lip thoughtfully. ]

Good money?

They're between nine and twelve. Not too young and they're all girls. People always say girls listen and learn better when boys aren't around.

It's not bad. Never going to be what Hamilton Rifle makes, but I'm managing.

I'm not at all surprised to hear it. Who can hear anything over the sound of boys? Or men, for that matter.
