WHO: Zatanna, Ned, & Matt.
WHERE: Lassiter's old townhouse.
WHEN: After Ned's big break out!
WARNINGS: Talk of alleged murder is likely.
SUMMARY: Zatanna and Matt bust out the Piemaker. In order to keep him laying low, she takes him to the one place she conveniently forgets to mention is in her possession...
FORMAT: Quick!
[Lassiter's townhouse was like a second home to her, even now. It was warm and familiar despite the thin layer of dust that had been acquired over the last few weeks (she hadn't been there for a while, even before she had been ported out). The memories she holds of Carlton Lassiter are nothing but fond and his home reminds her of that. The second she teleports them in, she feels almost like she's being wrapped in a big fluffy robe -- that's comfort. Or, that might just be that two guys are still attached to her limbs. Hard to say, really.
The wispy clouds of smoke they came into the home in start to dissipate almost immediately. She detaches herself and leaves Ned and Matt in the kitchen. Everything is decorated sparsely and somewhat modern. It's nice. The bedrooms are upstairs, with her former significant other's room and the Civil War memorabilia room locked as if she expects someone to care enough to break in.
Zatanna moves around the table and into the living room.] I would rather you not mention this place being in my possession. The only other person aware that I own it is Amanda Waller and she's long gone. [She peers over her shoulder at the two men that had accompanied her. She folds an arm over her waist and she shrugs a little.] I'll go shopping shortly and fill the fridge. The bills are all paid, including cable. Most of the DVDS are Civil War-related, but there's a Wii. [There are only two Miis on it.]
You guys okay? [Maybe she should get them pizza or something... there is a weird vibe going on in this moment.]

Is there, uh. Anything else I could change into...?
[He looks at Matt, then back through the door at Zee. This was awkward that's the only vibe you're getting from him, Zatanna. But he is grateful so he guesses he should say so.]
Thank you, both of you. I was starting to worry you'd forgotten about me. [A really lame joke... or is it?]

[Matt is tempted to tell Ned not to mention it, to forget the whole thing, really, but he knows what it's like to be busted out. After all, hadn't Frank done him that same favor not four months earlier? The only difference was, Matt was guilty and Ned was innocent.
He stood perched against the counter, on foot kicked up as his nose twisted from the dust. Dust and the disorienting feeling that accompanies the use of magic.]
We'll get you all squared away, Ned. You'll be good as new before you know it.
[A month back in town and already he's reduced to busting clients out of jail. How far the righteous have fallen, Mister Murdock. How far, indeed.]

Ned, ah. Hrm. One second. Hctiws eht ebordraw. [She raises a hand and does this unconcerned, almost bored twirl of her fingers.] The guest room now has your wardrobe in it. But for now... [She waves her hand dismissively and it's clear her magic has no real definition to it, unless it's "sarcastic magic," maybe. A gust surrounds Ned and his clothes slowly change into something more comfortable (and less conspicuous), just in his style.]
You know I won't let any harm come to you. [That's when she comes up to Ned and straightens out the collar on his newly transmogrified shirt.] You're my best friend. [Patting his shoulder, she turns toward Matt.] You guys hungry? Pizza or something, maybe?
[Like they're just hanging out for the sake of hanging out now. In reality, it's more to try to help Ned feel less uncomfortable as they wait for one Mister Jack Bauer, a super man in his own right.]

I'm starving. Not... literally, but close enough to it.
[Then he turns to Matt, leaning away from Zatanna.] Who doesn't like pizza? As long as it's not... meat-lovers. [Ned actually smiles, shooting Zee a private look of commiseration.]

Anything you two have is fine by me.
[Now that they are settling in, it feels more appropriate to ask about the details of Ned's situation.]
I was hoping you might be willing to explain the circumstances of your arrest, Ned.

Then pizza it is. Ned and I don't do the meat thing, so veggie lovers, I guess? Is that alright by you? [She's heading toward the sofa, plopping down as she pulls out a phone.] I'm thinking just for now, just in case... I'm going to do a pick-up instead of a delivery. Why don't you guys come in here and get more comfortable? [Or as comfortable as Ned can be in this situation. She's already dialing for pizza from the phone that was perched on a table beside the sofa, but keeps her eyes on Ned. She wouldn't mind being caught more up to speed on all this nonsense herself.]

A man, a food critic actually, by the name of Walter McConkey, was murdered in the Pie Hole. By a pie. So naturally, I was taken in under suspicion.
They have "evidence" against me. Though considering it is my Pie Hole, why wouldn't my DNA be all over the place?

So the mode of death was what? Poison? Choking? Razors baked into the crust? [His brows furrow as he thinks.] And what was the motive here? Did he give you a poor review?
[He tilts his head toward Zatanna.]
Let's be sure whatever pizzeria you choose isn't know for it's vengeful pie-makers, okay?
[An attempt at humor, however unfunny it might be.]
